Names that you are amazed you got

Hello peeps!

Everyone knows that coming up with names for your toons is hard work. You come up with the most awesome idea for a name, one that you think no one else would have thought of, type it in and *bingo*....someone already has it....blast!

So its back to the drawing board. You either come up with something not quite what you would of liked, or just start mashing up words that sound ok until you get something workable. Sometimes, I just havent made a toon I had planned because I just couldnt come up with a name that suited.

But then there are the other times. Times when you just happen to come up with a totally awesome name, but you think its so obvious that its definatly taken, but you try it anyway. And..well, its free?! No one has taken it already? But..how is that...even...? And *BANG* its yours!

That happened to a friend of mine, who stumbled across the name 'Arms Race' for a duel pistol blaster. I managed to pick up 'The Waif' last night for my Primalist reserve, and 'Rising Damp' for my water blast reserve.

What names have you managed to get that you really thought someone else would have taken before you? What names did you want to take, but found someone had beaten you to it?

Personally, I was gobsmacked I got the name Duriel for an alien insect hive queen come to Earth. I was surprised it wasn't blocked, personally, but I've gone out of my way to make sure I don't lose it.

I was surprised I got the word Cecity for a name, just because it's a word and I was sure someone would have taken it. Nope. It fit the character at the time, but since I don't like the concept I came up with, I might just end up dumping the name. I'm thinking of rerolling anyway.

I was more than a little surprised I got Stardiver. I mean, yes, it's two random words mashed together, but the activity it implies is so inspirational I can't believe it was free. Though, in this case, the name becomes inspirational AFTER you get it, so maybe I was just lucky.

I was pretty damned shocked that I was able to snag Trombe for my Storm/DP Defender. And Zankantou for my TW/invuln Brute.

But on the whole I don't have the issue as much, as my characters to end upw ith more 'real' names than 'super' names.

Still amazed that my main villain's name, Tyrrano, was available. I made a copy on every server, cackling with mad glee the whole time.

Almost as amazing was my main hero, Royal Sovereign. Someone else got it first on Freedom, tho. *Really* surprised when we got access to the euro servers and it was still available on Defiant.

On Victory:

Crevasse (snagged for a rename after a name purge)
Arbitrage (admittedly before the auction house was implemented)

I don't think I've ever been surprised by something that wasn't available -- there are a lot of very clever people that play this game.

Patriot Star - SJ/shield scrapper

A few of the names I was surprised to grab here and there. I'll have to see if there's others I can't think of at the moment.

Interruption, for a Dark/Dark tank.

Poignant, who is an Arch/Dev blaster.

Pejorative, for a Villain Sonic/Time Corruptor.

Almost forgot, Dark Consequences, currently a Dark/Time controller. Originally a Kin/Dark defender.
