1. On Victory:
Rosetta Stone
Razor's Edge (snagged in prep for the dual blade rollout)

On Champion:
Enormity
Crevasse (snagged for a rename after a name purge)
Arbitrage (admittedly before the auction house was implemented)

I don't think I've ever been surprised by something that wasn't available -- there are a lot of very clever people that play this game.
2. Chase & Thong ... seriously funny!

Coffee on my monitor funny ...

Keep up the good work!

3. Shifting vigilance to some of sort of damage boost would be nice, but I think I'd rather have the defender inherent be some sort of scaling mez resistance (or protection): When the team is getting hammered, I'd like to be able shake off my drunken sailor status or statue impersonation a lot faster and help turn the tide of battle back in the team's favor ...

I hope you're right about his intentions -- I enjoy BAB's board sarcasm also but probably just missed it this time.

Come on, BABs -- you like to be the guy at the party that turns down the stereo? I really don't understand the point of this post, and frankly, don't see any tags in what you quoted that were worthy of it (there is at least one since then that probably deserves getting Modsmacked).

I'm not sure what bothers me about BAB's response: The implication that certain features are withheld or get taken away because we, da playahs, are ... what? Undeserving? Uncouth? Unregimented? Or is it that some folks have taken a feature and used it in a way that wasn't intended: as a vehicle for expression and entertainment? Like others have said, the tags have proven to be one of the more entertaining aspects of this waaah-fest (including some in which I see the barbs pointed in my own direction).

[Note: I'm not advocating rule-breaking behavior, and welcome active Moderators; I guess I'm missing what I saw as satire or just plain hilarity in the thread tags that was violative, such that a Dev responded with an implied threat that tagging would be taken away from us.]

EDIT: BTW, still laughing at "giant pancakes" ...

What? Putting the server queue code on the test server during double XP weekend could possibly cripple most players? That's your retort to my expression of disappointment with the timing of this? That's some smart thinkin' right there ...

Let me give you the two word version of my post: "Great timing <grumble, grumble>" -- that was no more or less than what I was saying. Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I begrudge any other players over it? No. Sorry my disappointment rubbed your granular surface the wrong way, Obsidius, but I still think the timing sucks.

Yes, I know the server queue change is ultimately meant for all the servers. My point relates to the timing of applying it (for testing or otherwise) to the test server such that it closes access to the character creation process during closed beta unless you are a closed beta tester.

This is the first time i've been genuinely disappointed in the dev team. What would it hurt to let us just look at the custom colored powers if we don't get into the game? Hell if anything it would probably help speed the process along since the character creator is the big overhaul this time around. More testers would get things found faster, plus only the closed testers would be able to see them in practice and test the in-game performance.

Not cool team, not cool at all.

Edit - after seeing the other reply and opinions that said tweet could just be a poorly phrased way of saying "people are locked out of character creator and we're tryign to fix it" i'd like to say that if that's the case then i retract my former statement and commend the team for being so very giving to us. if not you suck. >:|

EDIT: And what Gr33n said about that other beta ...
10. Appreciate this overview, and if you have answered the question elsewhere, point me to it: Bonfire as a splattroller power? It seems like it would be in conjunction with Fire Cages, but my Fire 'troller is not high enough in level yet to try it. Just wondering.

I made good use of your Plant/Rad Splattroller guide, and my Plant/Rad is one of the most fun characters I play. I'm going to rethink skipping Fallout based on your comments above.

Thanks!

Hey, if we're really lucky, i16 will allow alternate animations for our powers.

Knowing BaBs, we would have to be astronomically lucky.

The only bug I don't hate is the one with using any power that calls the "Smashcast" animation while you have the Nemesis staff in hand.

I've been very slow to 'fix' that particular one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Please continue to be slow fixing it... maybe even move it from "bug" to "feature" Call it early power customization?

I love pulling the nemesis staff to put the radation anchor toggles on an enemy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Was just going to say the same thing, except with the Blackwand (I assume it's the same bug).

And I agree that this bug should be the caboose of the bug-fixing train.

Server Status

Check the date of the server status page -- when it shows the servers up, the date is sometime last month. The servers are actually down, and I think the status page will alternate to show that (with the right date). This happened last time to the status page.

At any rate, why are the servers down? Yet another unannounced server maintenance?

The particle physics settings are what control the objects from Propel, I believe. Make sure you have those on.

[/ QUOTE ]

That was it! I always have left particle physics off on the machine I'm running on today (and must not have played my Grav dom on this rig before). Simply bumping it to low restored the random object fun. Thanks.

Sorry for the threadjack -- but Propel was what lured me into running a Grav character in the first place.
16. [ QUOTE ]
EDIT: Tweaked settings somewhat, but they are what I usually run with -- still no persistnt objects from propel. I don't have a Grav controller to test that it is just my dominator having the issue.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nothing on the Dominator boards that I noticed about this (not surprising, given Propel's universal disdain among the Dom set -- which is why I brought it up here; was too embarassed to ask there. )
17. Whew, thanks.

I haven't messed with my settings that I remember and they always hung around before -- I'll play with them and see what happens and report back.

The other relevant point, I guess, is that I was playing on my Grav dominator.

IMHO the hot new thing will be to have a bind activating the "alakazamreact" emote every time you use Propel.

Everything else will pale in comparison. :P

[/ QUOTE ]

Did they change Propel!? Now all my beautiful assortment of various objects disappear after hitting a mob instead of tumbling around and staying on the map! Please tell me this is a bug ...
19. I'm by no means a controller afficiando, but recently rolled up a Plant/Rad and followed the wonderful Plant/Rad "splattroller" guide by Enantiodromos ( Plant/Rad Build Guide )

I solo'd most of the time apart from some SG team-ups, ran regular content, and in short order he's sitting at 32 with his weirdo pet fly trap. I've been playing awhile, ad wanted to really test out the build, so I bumped him to rugged (challenge level 2) immediately after finishing the tutorial; right beofore hitting level 17, I bumped the difficulty to unyielding (challenge setting 4) and haven't looked back [NOTE: veteran powers (blackwand & sands of mu) are what allowed me to do this effectively -- I would not try it without them]. That is the earliest I've ever been able to sustain unyielding on any character I've run.

Needless to say, I'm very impressed with that build and highly recommend /Rad to go with Plant Control.

And with the temporary travel powers you get from Safeguards, I put off a travel power to get the classic control powers in earlier -- otherwise I followed the build advice linked above. So even as a "splattroller," I've been able to play classic control when I need to.

Mind idea

[ QUOTE ]
... On another note, what power would you cut to get a pet power anyway. The entire set is 5 star powers in some situation or other.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the biggest problem with the idea, which I like, but I just don't think there's anything to take away to make room for it. As I said earlier, it wouldn't be worth losing Mass Confusion (and the ability to stack confuse).

My appreciation of the idea was not because I think Mind is weak (without a true pet); I just think its a neat idea.
21. Spade

Mind idea

I like this idea. My mind controller is only level 32, so I don't have much experience with Mass Confusion yet. But with a plant controller now within a bar of 32 using a splattroller build and the wonderful seeds of confusion power, I have a feeling I won't be quite impressed with Mind's AoE confuse (I hope I'm wrong on that).

I don't think I'd want to lose Mass Confusion completely. Maybe a cone version earlier in the powerset? I do like the idea of stacking a confuse on top of mass confusion, and Mind is the only controller set that can do that.

But I really like this idea. The power could be called "Brainwash" or something like that.
22. I am by no means a Dominator expert, and there are great guides and great players on these boards that have and can advise you. I'll try and answer your focus question by what I've experienced (following the advice I've found here).

Slot your single target hold with 2ACC and 2 RechRed at a minimum, and six slotting it (2 ACC, 2 RechRed, 2 Hold) is one controller habit you should carry over -- the ability to cycle your ST hold among the mobs you're dealing with is invaluable. Don't slot up the rest of your primary powers early on, and don't slot damage into your primaries (some will disagree, and Gravity is prob an exception, but in general you can't go wrong with this method).

Devote the rest of your early slots to your secondary, 1 ACC, and up to 3 DAM on your main attacks (fill out those attacks later on as you get more slots).

Anyway, just some advice I've gleaned that has worked out for me in the lower levels.
23. Well, I'm enjoying four damage procs in Arctic Air, but I'm not sure this is germane to the OP's question ...
24. [ QUOTE ]
Yanno, it would be pretty awesome to just make the flyposes selectable. So I could fly anywhere all Supes style withut having to type the emote or make a macro.

[/ QUOTE ]

This. Then SS over water and up walls. Then maybe think about adding new travel powers.
25. It's BaBs! Hey, Positron would like some R Type custom weapons added to the various weapon sets in time for Issue 15 -- get on that, will you?
