As I read this late last night, I kept looking for a 'Like' button to click....then I remembered this isn't Facebook. Consider this 'Liked'!!
Taking a long drag on her cheroot, she studied the message. Date, time, coordinates - all there. And this particular contact had proven both accurate and reliable - two marks in his favour when it came to maintaining a steady cashflow.
"Hmmm - and there's a permanent group of bounties out for those idiots. Crey for their tech... The Rikti for revenge... In fact..." She scrolled through a few more messages, then a slow smile curved her mouth beneath the camo face paint she wore. "Well, well, well... " Taking one last drag, she flicked the last of it to the floor and ground it beneath her heel. Luckily for her, she'd just wrapped up her last job here in Striga, so her timetable was free. And thanks to a timely if unwilling donation from the Sky Raiders, she'd just scored some particularly illegal but effective munitions for her team. Time to put 'em to good use. Swinging her black combat boots onto her field desk, she let out a piercing whistle, and her team came striding in, weapons at the ready as usual. "You rang, boss?" "Who's up for a significant paycheck?" The team's field medic raised an eyebrow. "Define 'significant'." "As in Arachnos' number three bounty. And then some." A series of low whistles went around the office, and she nodded in confirmation. "Yep, the grapevine says that ole Bronze Bombast himself is gearing up to make a move." "And the 'then some'?" "Recluse says the offer's been sweetened regarding his head. Double if we can verify it's the real one. Doubled again if it's alive and still attached to his body." The group's weapons mechanic hefted his minigun and grunted in approval. "My kind of 'then some'." The rest nodded in agreement, and she smirked. "Get your gear in gear and check it twice. We'll be heading to Independence Port come Tuesday. Dismissed." The men filed out and she keyed a quick reply to the bounty offer and rose to her feet as well. She intended to claim that bounty... and if she had to take out anyone else along the way to get it, well... with luck, there'd be cash involved for them as well. After all, she thought, slinging her customized composite bow over one shoulder with a grin, that's why they call me Profiteer. ***** Michelle aka Samuraiko/Dark_Respite |
You know what occurred to me this morning? Why would a crusty old royalist right-wing reactionary like Nemesis plan his big conspiracy for International Labor Solidarity Day? It seems terribly off-message for his politics.

Typed into Google Maps (39.76 -70) stuck the marker below Rhode Island and to the right of Pennsylvania.
I am pretty sure that there is no negative 70 longitude. I'm just sayin

Considering in an SG RP arc post I calculated Cap au Diable to be at 40.73 -70.93, and used several different online longitude/latitude tools to do it, then yes... -70 does exist.
Hmm, looks now like I was a bit off in my calculations there.

Nah, it's the original post that's off, unless they just *really* didn't want to be close to precise. The location they give is supposed to be '5 miles from Talos', and yet is more than a hundred fifty miles off the coast. >.<

I sit corrected, We've always just said 180E or 180W.
You'd be wrong. ;-) Longitude is measured from the prime meridian, up to 180 degrees east and -180 west.
|
Longitude is given as an angular measurement ranging from 0° at the Prime Meridian to +180° eastward and −180° westward. The Greek letter λ (lambda),[4][5] is used to denote the location of a place on Earth east or west of the Prime Meridian.
Rene Descartes orders a glass of wine and drinks it. The bartender says, "Would you like another?" Descartes replies, "I think not." And he disappears.
Which is also a perfectly valid way of doing it, same way latitude can be given as either +/- or degrees north/degrees south. Standard convention uses the +/- method, is all. At least in my region, and most that I know of.

That's because you live on Earth-217, the boring Earth. Here on Primal Earth, everything pops, whirs, whistles, crashes, buzzes, clangs, glows, flashes, vibrates, rumbles, clashes, sparkles, pulses, and thunders. On Primal Earth, the SOSUS warning system was discontinued in 1971 when it was overwhelmed by Captain Aqualung every time he activated tuna summoning.
(Yeah, I know, a spoilsport - but really, with all the various underwater detection networks and devices and most subs designed specifically to be exceptionally quiet, something pinging every 33 feet would be like walking into a library screaming and beating a bass drum and cymbals. This would hardly be a surprise! ... and yeah, stuff like that does bug me. I had to stop reading a book - and, basically, an author - after he talked about someone being transported in a private cabin, with attendant and drink cart and extra seats, in an F-106.)

If you wanted to shoot a torpedo at everything that made a metallic sound off the eastern coast of the United States on Primal Earth you'd have to nuke the entire Atlantic Ocean.
Keep in mind also that an invasion by Nemesis in some parts of Paragon City would be considered "just another Wednesday."
We roll a little differently here on Primal Earth. We invade Praetoria and the leader says "I'm the only thing standing between the people and the Hamidon, and if you challenge me I'll nuke my own city" and we say "what size is that helmet you're wearing again?" Besides, Nemesis knows if he isn't actually standing in front of a hero or next to a teleportation target, its not like the heroes of Paragon City are going to go out of their way to find him. Not enough XP.

So is this gonna be like Rikti and Halloween just with Nemisis mobs or not? Plus, how do I add my pic? I really seem to be having trouble with that....
At least there won't be any snipers. They'll all be self-immobilized on the beachheads on which they landed.

It's supposed to be off-message; it's to cover the fact that everything is a Nemesis plot.

Well, it appears that the time has come for the Galvonic Man to gear up and face the brass hordes of the Nemesis Army once more.
