This is just my personal feeling on the subject Zwill, but when something is apparently finished and completed, it irks me to the point of deep seated annoyance to have it appear to be delayed for what to me is useless tat, that is what I hate about Paragon’s current once a week release schedule.

I don’t mind vanity pets, I won’t buy them, but I don’t begrudge their existence. But what I do begrudge is that they take up the weekly release slot.

I was actually going to always buy new vanity pets as they were released when we had the old mechanics for them, IE as many as you wanted. This one vanity pet thing, though? I can't really support and will not support.

A maximum of at least two, maybe three, would be awesome. But I know at least one friend had a character concept ruined due to the cap, and I will NEVER buy a vanity pet unless it's a Shiba Inu.

Also, this?

"If we release too many Powersets too quickly, it could be seen as a grab at your Paragon Points, and subsequently, your money. While we certainly appreciate you buying Paragon Points, we also have to be responsible with how we encourage you to spend with us."

Is a little bold, Zwil. Seeing as you've done the exact same thing with the four-legged rig for weeks now.

People in this game have been hankering for a staff fighting powerset for at LEAST 7 years. I don't recall ANYONE begging for stupid vanity pets, especially ones that animate so damn fast that they look ridiculous after 5 minutes.

And seriously, a stinger on the Liger? Who had THAT bright idea!?

As long as it was used sparingly (i.e., not updated hourly since it pops up and, in general, pop ups are evil ), may I suggest using the GMOTD that gets updated on Tuesdays with the current and next few weeks' worth of WSTs and Market releases.

Thanks for the post, but it seems like it is just more teasing with no date and the Very Soon™ deal yet again.

You guys have been on a money/paragon point grab ever since it was revealed that you must do new stuff every Tuesday on the market. Most of us are cool with that it's a business and we want you to make the money etc...

I think it is kind of not cool the way you guys still will not give a date for the release of something that has been on the BETA server since December 2011 and just tease and tease and tease more. That's just straight up booty.

Most people would even understand a delay from the originally announced release date if needed, it happens in the industry and has since the 80's when I first started playing these games. You guys have even done it so I don't know why you are playing the tease game with this set unlike others and that is what is making most that are angry that way.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

The weekly release schedule is really more a boon for those who want to buy it all, or multiple things. Instead of putting the pressure on people to spend money to get enough points all at once, they break it up so that you have a chance to get your monthly stipend or use smaller amounts of money to supplement that stipend.

While in the longer run it makes more sense to buy larger amounts of points, due to bonus points, some people can't afford or don't want to spend that much at one time. However, $10 a week is more affordable for them.

In addition, it tends to keep people coming back to see what's new. As any business would attest, it's nice to get first time customers, but your bread and butter is repeat customers: those that will keep coming back again and again. A once monthly check vs. a once a week check? I'd say it's a no-brainer for any business. Indeed, the comic book industry is also based on a weekly vs. a monthly schedule. (That is, they don't release all comics on one day; they break it down on a weekly shipping schedule.)

Waiting sucks; I get it. I've got two names already reserved for my Staff guys; they've been that way since January. I'd like to play it sooner than later, but it will eventually get here.

I find your lack of signature disturbing.

But releasing four vanity pets, one of which is only obtainable as the rarest item in Super Packs and was demonstrated on beta and live both to require an average expenditure of over a hundred dollars, and two powersets that utilize your new four-legged rig in a very short timespan isn't a grab at our Paragon Points?

Sorry, Zwill, I like you, but I have to call shenanigans on that claim. It's so hollow and blatantly false that it makes me angry. The fact that Beast Mastery was released to the live servers in a blatantly unready state, being universally acknowledged as severely underperforming by anyone who actually knew what they were talking about, and breaking the Mastermind pet AI in general even for the other sets makes the cash grab even more blatant.

But Reiska! Performance doesn't matter, be it a set or the server!

I do know I'm done beta testing after the Beast Mastery BS. That was a waste of my time.

I'd tell you to leave the BSing to marketing, but then I remember you ARE marketing. (-:

I agree that Staff Fighting shouldn't go on the same day that Beast Mastery is on sale, as a point of business. But the notion that doing so would overload the poor pea-brained minds of the players to the point that they can't make time for them both? That's a load of crap.

hi

I honestly do not mind the wait for staff fighting, but it is/was the not knowing when to expect it.

I'm just so exited about the Set that i stopped making new char's(and that says something for me)/continue existing ones(iTrials), just so that i would be ready the minute that Staff Fighting release's, and not have to worry bout a not finished toon :P

Now atleast i know its coming Very Soon :P

ty for the head's up

49 level 50's(CoH/V), cant be arsed to list em all :P

They were giving level bumps and testing end game Staff builds in the New Dark Astoria months ago. They have teased and teased and teased and teased some more today since then with no real concrete communication in a forthright manner regarding it's release including today with the ANNOYING AS HECK Very Soon™.

ALL of this angst is soooo darn easy to avoid with forthright clear regular communication. We are not children and the it's X-mas eve hints at what is in the box approach to some things being released is extremely nauseating to many many here.

I can sum up what Darth is saying with a little less rage;

It's extremely poor to release the set that had barely any testing, and hold back the set that was tested since December. On top of that, a Set people have been wanting for years is being held back versus a niche set that was, again most importantly, poorly tested.

Top it all off with Paragon Studio's lack of concrete release dates = people are pretty pissed we're getting the 5th and 6th blatant shelling of the four-legged rig niche instead of stuff MORE people want, aka Staff Fighting.

The wait on staff has been long enough that the excitement has turned to annoyance. I'm tired of waiting for you guys to dangle it down low enough above our heads so we can reach it. I've unsubscribed and will probably be avoiding the game for a while - By the time I come back maybe there will be a few things worth getting amongst the piles of vanity pets.

If they aren't all time sensitive, that is.

Not that hard

And if you don't see it right away, you can always do Ctrl + F in your browser and search for "Weekly."

And hey... it was updated today! Wootsauce.
Its not always at the top and having to dig for the information is indeed a pain. As many people have said i would go to the wiki, but if i need to use a 3rd party to find that information then clearly something is wrong with how the information is being delivered. But yes you are right today i can go there and its right at the very top.

I made a character roughly 7 years ago which has been waiting ever since then to get a dual-rocket costume item like the one that's coming in the Retro Sci-Fi costume pack. The core concept of that character was essentially based on a rocket pack like that (which of course I had no idea I'd have to wait 7 years to get at the time ).

So does it irk the b-jesus out of me me every week we don't get the Retro Sci-Fi costume pack on the Market? Of course it does. But honestly since I've already been waiting 7 years for it I can stand to wait a few more weeks. I tend to think the people who've been waiting for Staff Fighting will be able to survive another week or two as well.

I'd like to vote against this idea. Those pop-ups are very annoying and anybody that wants a release schedule can take the time to go look for a forum post, even if they don't normally use the forums.

Making information available is not the same as forcing it on people, which is what the pop-ups do. It also forces it on people multiple times if they have more than one account.

Staves are MELEE weapons.
Sure they are realitvely large melee weapons, but melee weapons none the less.

What other kind of category would the Devs place them in?

When Staff Melee first hit beta, there was a guy in one of the Global Channels I frequent that spent over half a day raging about how the devs had missed the boat by wasting their resources on making Staff a melee set, instead of making it a blast set. He wanted magic staves and/or Goa'uld staff weapons. He also seemed to be of the impression that since staves were now melee weapons, there was no chance that the devs would ever make the "Staff Blast" set he wanted, because there was no way that they would ever use one weapon in two different powersets, like they did with Archery, Trick Arrow, and Ninjas.
