  1. I don't think I'll purchase another subscription based game from NCSoft after this, too much time and investment to have it just snatched away like this.

Tabula Rassa, ExSteel (Exteel?), Dungeon Runners, that car game they were working on, that's the ones off the top of my head, a few more besides them.

When the books are looking bad, doesn't have to be a loss, just not as good as they want it, they'll drop a game and the studio behind it.
  3. TSW, is buggy, very, very buggy, progress stoppingly buggy.

Gave up with it after a puzzle went from an enjoyable ten minutes, to forty minutes of frustration because it was bugged and randomly ignored the correct patterns.
  4. Saw the twist coming from nine miles away, liked the chanting at the end, though it was a bit cheasy.

Guess what. Every single explanation of why they closed Paragon is a rumor. Given that, we have to evaluate each one based on its credibility, and I find it a lot more credible than NCSoft closing Paragon because their CEO had a bad hair day.

They've done it seven times before.

Books looking bad? Axe a small studio.

Burn me twice, but certainly not 3 times.)

I'm burnt on MMO's too for the foreseeable future. All that time, money and, lets not forget, emotional investment just isn't worth it if you can't rely on it being there when you want it to.

To be fair to obsidian in their life they've only made one game that the Publisher hasn't strolled up and said, 'you know those three years you've got to make a game, it's now one.'

How much trust will anybody here have for NC Soft games, in the future, when they do things like this?

They wouldn't care if they were 'focusing' on their home markets.

Not Racism, just an understanding that Asian business mentality is to never admit publicly to a mistake. If you lose your company a lot of money, they may not even sack you, they’d move you to a window desk instead, a hint that they’d like you to ‘voluntarily’ leave.
If they make a big deal of it, then they have to admit you weren’t the right man for the job, which calls into question the people who thought you were right for the job, and those people that thought they were right for their jobs, until eventually the entire company is pulled into question.

It is very, very rare for them to publicly axe some one of manager or above status.

As for the hate the West thing, perhaps I was being a bit strong in my wording, but they will always focus on their assets back home, and it’s far easier to sack a studio half a world away than have questions raised in the papers back home, for doing so to a ‘local’ studio.

    Boycott NCSoft

Atari don't even do online anymore....
  10. Aion cost them too much, but the Asian mentality in business prevents them from saying it was a bad idea, after they had bigged it up so much.

    So yeah Aion can't die.

And since Asians hate the west, can you guess what would have to die instead?
  11. Pretty much my view as well.

We need to give them a send off.
  12. Sunday 26th August , most Paragon Papers carry the story, as do news shows.

Police search for possible, Typhoid Marty.

A new lead in the outbreak of the unknown disease that has so far killed twenty people and left over one hundred in hospital. This unknown male, of unknown origin has been spotted in several of the outbreak spots, several people infected with this new disease have claimed to that the mystery man was around them shortly before they became ill.

<A picture, an artists impression, some might recognise it as the hero Arc Bled, though man he looks like crap, his skin discoloured and puffy looking, his head shiny, greasy and bald. Maybe it's just the way he is drawn but something about his weasely eyes makes him just the kind of guy not to trust, maybe he needs a punch or two.>

Local Christian meta-human youth group, The Street Saints, reported that two of their members were left hospitalized after attempting to arrest the mystery man. Police are advising not to go near this man, instead contact them or a disease proof hero.

Then look at the rest... meh those can go in the "pay" pile.

That's how anyone who complains about which power sets are free which aren't wants it to be. Unfortunately they can't all agree on what should be free and what should be pay so they decide ALL of them should be free or at the very least all of them should be included in VIP.

Personally I'd go by the one that we'd need for filling a Theme/theme character where either part is part of the standard game, the other should be included for VIP.

For years subscribers have been able to roll Plant/ characters but they haven't really had a second part to that equation, so in this case I'd say Nature should be alllowed since it woud finally fill in the Plant/Plant for controll characters.

Water blast, well we've never had a water manipulation set to go with it so, Water blast is fine as an additional cost.

    Titan weapons? Sure.

Street justice? Well the concepts could be filled with the Martial Arts set so, again fine.

But when they are plugging pre-exhisting holes, it shouldn't be at an additional price point to VIPs.
  15. Friday August 24th.

Mystery disease claims ten lives, seventy remain under quarantine.

The outbreak which started in the busy heart of Paragon City, Steel Canyon continues to infect new people, with thirty more reported cases today, sadly of these thirty, ten have died. The disease is said to be baffling Doctors, as they are unable able to determine a pathogen or other infectious vector.

They have however managed to rule out any methods of poisoning as the diets and life styles of the infected do not have any common cross over points, other than Steel Canyon itself. Doctors and Police are asking people to watch out for signs of infection in friends, family or neighbours.
  16. I can see that some of the powersets that V.I.P have to pay for shouldn't have been released as a paid for option.

Nature Affinity for example fills in a spot that we've been missing, we've had Plant Control, but no plant based support to go with it. Likewise if they ever add a storm/air control.
  17. Thursday August 23rd.

    =P

I think it's more that they decided to put those on a sale, instead of adding anything new this week.

Kinda makes their something new each week line a bit of a lie, I mean we could all forgive last week due to the market maintance, but this is the second week now.
  19. Doesn't the MMO gorilla have a bear based expansion coming out in September too?
  20. People can forgive a lack of content at launch, if the game has polish. The monks in space game, it launched in 2011 with a U.I from 2004, by the time they finally got around to adding U.I customisability, they had lost over a million subs.

They've only just added an actual system to look for groups, more advanced than spamming general chat, but its too late, they are going free to play.

Funcoms game has great ideas, but you play it, you start to get into it, start to get drawn into the story of a zone and then....

Five of the quests in a row are bugged an can't be completed, they patch the game and claim they have fixed these quests, but nope they are still bugged, they add new content, and this too is bugged.

For example, one of the newest quests invovles translating latin phrases into demonic text and entering it into a magic circle. Great. Except the circle is bugged and may or may not recognise the correct answer as correct, depending on how it feels.

The one that made me quit was the defend this location, but after the first wave of enemies the allies start attacking you as well.
  21. Going to be there as well.

    Will need a PC.

They were on last week, just not on the front page.
  23. Nothing at all, or am I missing something?
