Yeah, I know, the forums and the game are going, but until they do, i'll do what I love on these forums......discuss the things we love

So, who's seen the new series first episode?

Epic in scale, a very clever intro to a new person......and VERY clever way to further what the Doctor wants to do!

3 & 1/2 hours before it airs on BBC America here in the US.
Can't wait for this season to begin. Should be an interesting ride for sure...

Thank you for the time...

Is this actually Jenna-Louise Coleman's character or is she portraying someone else when she becomes a regular? It wouldn't be the first time an actor has portrayed a different role before becoming a companion (Freema Agyeman in Army of Ghosts, Karen Gillan in The Fires of Pompeii).

I think it's a related character. In this she's called Oswin Oswald but her actual character is called Clara Oswin. I've been a fan of the actress since she was in Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii.

Saw the twist coming from nine miles away, liked the chanting at the end, though it was a bit cheasy.

Brawling Cactus from a distant planet.

Oswin is a lovely bit of alright.

I give it negative five seconds before slash-fics of her and Amy show up.

Predictable. And I hated the human daleks. I wouldn't be surprised if some time in a future episode the Doctor is shockingly becoming a dalek.

Better than the human Dalek from Evolution of the Daleks.

Ok, she'll be a suitable companion. I feel odd about this. I absolutely love Amy/Rory but I didn't really like either of them as much as Oswin this episode. It's like they were purposely trying to be bland in order to let her stand out.

But the Amy at the end. Just that look...the pale skin combined with the red hair...rraawr...

I preferred Dalek Sec, personally. He was cheesy, but not as much as the Dalek-unicorn-humans.

Grumble grumble! It was no Love And Monsters, not by a long shot.

In fact I thought it was pretty damn solid from beginning to the end. Certainly helps take my mind off... well... you know...

I thought it suffered from too much "action" and not enough actual plot happening. And what plot it did have was a bit incoherent.

Oh yeah, lets shoe-horn in some zombie/dalek hybrids. Because you can never have too many zombies or daleks.

I really should do something about this signature.

This, except unironically.

I hate it when a Sci-Fi flick tries to save money by Disguising aliens as a human or humans with very simple accessories. It shows real decay. I hope to never see them again, but I imagine we will probably be seeing these human daleks for the most part from now on.

The Amy & Rory are seperating at start of episode to get magically fixed by end of same episode felt chessy and daggy to me.

Probably a lead in to those two leaving so Amy can have kids without getting timeheads or something (maybe get dalekhead now)

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Amy can't have kids period (pardon the pun). The Silence screwed up her plumbing at Demon's Run after she gave birth to Melody; she's infertile. That was the entire reason they split up.

There were 5 shorts on the web leading up to the return of the show. The last one showed them breaking up but not why.

Unless those Dalek nanites fixed her up and made a Dalek factory out of her womb.

I've always hated that as well, but didn't suss this as one of those moments - good catch! Except... not five minutes later we're given shots of "every Dalek ever" and a whole CGI Parliment of The Daleks.

I think the complaint you're looking for here is the Daleks were taking pains to be sneaky and disguise themselves, which is very un-Dalek-like. "If the Daleks decided they wanted to nab a couple of humans, why wouldn't they just send down a ship, hover down in their travel machines and blast anyone who got in their way?"

On the other hand, it does lead in to the whole "nano-cloud turning people into Daleks" motif, which I think was meant to be another element Moffat tossed in to help re-scarify the Daleks (a stated aim he had in writing this episode). You'll also note Moffat cleaned up after himself nicely here by blowing up the Asylm afterwards. Any writer or show-runner who comes along after him and re-uses this will be the one to blame, not Moffat.

It fails to make them scary, however, and rather makes them into pepperpot Borg. With the Doctor now being potentially set up as Locutus.
