SSA #7 Story Discussion ** SPOILERS **

I only recently shifted back to being a Hero from a Vigilante.

Previously, I've done both sides of each of the SSA arcs. Because of this, much of the dialogue treated me like a Villain and not Hero, specifically Scirroco talked about me betraying him and I had to fight Manticore at the end. Did anyone else get these same options as a Hero?

You were supposed to walk into the Obvious Trap(tm)!

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Wow that's pretty cool, and no didn't get that option was treated as a true blue hero all the way.

Yeah, I loved the maps, both in that mission, and the one in the south Pacific.

Boss-level Sapper Tanks sounded a lot scarier in my head than they were in reality.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when Lord Recluse didn't betray me at the end. I would have bet money he was going to say something like, "Oh, and by the way, [expletive]head, remember that broken mask you handed me a couple of years ago?" *WHAM*

I have to say though: for someone wielding the power of Statesman, Sister Psyche, AND Rularuu the Ravager, Wadelaruu was a pushover. I had a harder time with Ghost Widow (who was repeatedly one-shotting my bots through soft-capped +def) than I did with him, at least, once I took away his Apocalypse Beam.
Yeah I was on my hero and was totally expecting to have to fight LR and his lackeys after everything. I also think that Wadelaruu was easy and had a harder time with GH.

But one last point before work...

In the mission where you go to the Shadow Shard and have to 'rescue' Scirocco....

Why can't we target him?! GRRR....

When I entered the mission I did my keybind, "/bind e targetcustomnext Sci" and went all over the map (and inside the ball/chantry) and never got a hit.

So I went around again trying to stay low to the ground (was SJ'ing around last time)....

Then finally saw him when I entered the Chantry/ball on the left side....

GRRR....really?!
Oh man if only we had a map function in this game that they sometimes used to show us objectives...

I was OK with it (very OK when looking at what the new art assets mean for the future! wheeee) except for one bit:

What the heck? C'mon guys. I can't give your MA arc a decent score if you can't be bothered to finish it.

Or is it...

Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.

Do no real damage? Maybe not intentionally, but by the second or third one, Black Scorpion (after all his boasting) was dead from the explosions.

Yeah that would be nice too

Edit:

I'm not sure if you're saying there was a marker in the mission and you were being sarcastic but...

And in case you were....I'm 99% sure there was no marker when I did the mission so....*shrugs*

Lately, where the map shows or where the nav bar points, and where the objective is has been two places for me a few times.

Yeah I noticed that too.

Also lots of the "info" for the mobs were missing and or just plain wrong. The text for the Reviled Rularuu was wrong too (forgot what the text in there was for though now).

The Tank info text was wrong too....

These need to be beta tested because...lots of typos/textual errors

Yes I know you don't want "spoilers" to come out...but...*shrugs*

Ah that's what was in the text info boxes for the tanks! hehe

And uh....I could tell you how I protect my data but then...I'd send the kittens after you!

I did it on an alt which recently switched over to hero, but had done all the villain SSAs. He was treated as a villain, and had to fight Manticore at the end.

He has done I think 3 or 4 of the hero SSAs as well.

Too many alts to list.

Wish they had killed someone else off so it didn't become a "Kill of Jack' chaarcters" storyline.

Would it have been that hard to kill off BABs?

.
Well, if you read the briefing from Infernia, Malta is still in the process of fitting the tanks with sapper technology.

I think the developers would have to create a new animation rig to make a 'fightable' tank or helicopter or any other kind of vehicle capable of lateral movement while still pointing the dangerous parts at a target. I mean, unless you want them to be totally stationary like those turret trailers in RWZ, or capable of having a hilarious, immersion-breaking and arbitrarily quick zero degree turning radius like the Avatar of Hamidon does. I know they can turn like that IRL, but I don't know if there's a way to slow turning down ingame. In fact, I don't know if the critter AI used by the game engine is even capable of 'strafing' during aggro.

It's a technical issue. Not a mental block.

I like where this is going.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

It occurred to me, after a while, that it would have been nice to have been granted a temp auto-power that did two things: put "atmosphere bubble" FX around my character's head, and gave him an invisible 200' radius PBAoE that gave the same bubble to any friendly mastermind minions. But as soon as I thought of that, I realized that Doc Aeon probably thought of that, too, and the powers and art departments laughed him out of the room for thinking they had time to do it. Still ... anybody who bought the whole SSA1 series paid $35 for it. Having the "you can now breathe in space" spell be visible should arguably have been included in that price. It's not like they'll never need it again.

Sean Fish's characters got more of a mixed bag.
They put Manticore through Hell, but they gave Mako a two crowning moments of awesome.

OK at the risk of sounding egocentric. I'm kind of annoyed my character didn't even get an honorary invite to join the FP but Penelope Yin got invited. As far as I'm concerned my character saved the world through 7 episodes. And NO, Freedom Phalanx Reservist don't cut it, cuz I already had that LOL.

I will say:

1. It's more they wanted to keep a close eye on someone so young with so much raw psychic power.

and

B. Just wait until SSA2.

A fun arc, and it's nice to actually feel like the protagonist again after the "sit back and watch the NPCs do stuff" of #s 4-6. I'm not looking forward to trying to run it on my mastermind, though.
To be fair, at 50 odds are you already put Recluse on notice by handing him his helmet and you aren't really under your patron any more if you finished their arcs. Though it would be extremely cool if someday the dialog could reflect whether we have done all that or not.

And if you are an Incarnate then you are even that much more awesome than your patron.

I really wish there was more villain stuff to do at 50 that reflected one at or even possibly above Recluse's power but then that opens the door to you are the new Recluse or even possibly Tyrant and everyone is gunning for you. A major pitfall of a MMO I guess.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Funny, because I was thinking it would be hilarous if the entire thing turned out to be a Nemesis plot to manipulate Wade into merging with Rularuu so that the players would defeat him and allow his mind to scanned for Rularuu's secrets so that Mender Silos could use that information to fight the Coming Storm.

I mean, the players would burn down Paragon Studios so I would never actually get to see the Coming Storm, but it would still be hilarious.
