Ooo,
I'd be interested in Lot 37, myself, one of the scrapper ATO sets.
If that's not available, then lot 41, the kheld set would be good.
Thank you, Organica! -
AdBlock is your friend here.
I went months without visiting the forums because of the offensive background that they're now stuck with in perpetuity. I don't buy comics in which the art sucks, and I don't see any reason to subject myself to crappy art in CoH, either.
I wouldn't be posting now, if it weren't for the extenuating circumstances of the game ending.
So I went out, downloaded AdBlock for free, and tuned it to cut out the background. This is not quite as good a solution as the customized backgrounds some people have set up, but it's good enough for me to tolerate coming back and saying goodbye to people here.
It's unfortunate that the team gets saddled with this mistake as they ride off into the sunset. But I expect it's a lesson that'll stick with them in future games: Don't tolerate or promote bad art- you may get stuck with it. -
I'll pipe up here and ask for a Blessing of the Zephyr -KB Proc, as low level as you can make it, please.
I normally buy recipes for these off the market, but it's gone all wonky and supply seems to have dried up. I'll cheerfully trade you 25 mill inf for one, 50 mill for two if you can swing it.
Oh, @Casual Player, just like it says over there on the left. -
You know,
I think I've let you all stew about my secret identity long enough.
This is my (The Net's) original account.
-
Pfft,
Look at all these pikers posting away.
You all know this game was built to cater specifically to me. Don't even try to deny it. I'm responsible for everything.
Semi-seriously, my first character from back in the I2, pre-weapon-customization days, was a war-mace tanker whose RP was that she was wielding a wrench. Her memorable war-cry was a hearty "Lemme adjust those nuts for ya!" I'll never know for sure whether or not that prompted the wrench when we got customized weapons, but I'll always believe that the wrench was just for me. -
Michelle,
I can help you with Richard @James Crey
His full name was Richard Butler, and he played his original character, Templex, on my wife's account. We never deleted it after he died, and I can fire it up for you on Virtue if you want to take pics or video. Just name a time that's convenient and I'll try to swing it.

Quote:All right, let's go for some honest criticism. You didn't like it when I tried to be funny in a separate thread, so I'll bring my criticisms back home to roost here.Hello everyone,
While we appreciate the honest criticism, keep the critiques guided towards the topic. Please remember that personal attacks and non-constructive feedback are not permitted on the City of Heroes: Freedom forums.
If the bevaviour continues, further action may be necessary, which is something we'd like to avoid.
We thank you for your understanding.

1) You, the community reps, lied to us. Implicitly, not explicitly, but it was there: "We'll give you (the community) a say in what art graces the forums." But you didn't.
You guys are supposed to have our backs here, and build consensus. This thread asked for our input and generated a consensus so clear it was visible from space. AND THEN YOU IGNORED OUR INPUT ENTIRELY.
Zwill fell on his sword, claiming technical difficulties, but there has been no assurance from you guys that you understand the social aspect of this faux pax. No one's mad that you've chosen to alter the art to fit better on certain viewing aspects/ratios. We're mad because our feedback was ignored.
That doesn't build a community, it destroys it. You, The Mods, should Know Better and apologize NOT for making an artistic or technical error, but for making an error in community management.
2) You're promoting sexist art. You're promoting sexist art in a T for TEEN game. You're promoting sexist art in a T for TEEN game and relying on the commonality of female-specific softcore-porn poses in other comic book media to support your position.
The Over the Shoulder Pose has been increasingly and rightfully coming under fire.
No, It's Not Equal (the best article so far, IMO)
When Oversexualization Kills the Story
Escher Girls, which has plenty of examples along with occasional "fixes" that bring these artistically anatomical freaks into line with reality.
I'm going to note here that I had several humorous links all ready to go, but I've eliminated them to keep this discussion appropriate. Google 'male superheroes posed as women' if you want to see visuals that convey what these articles write about in more effective fashion.
In case it's not clear, I'm accusing you, the Mods, of deliberately oversexualizing Penny, just as she is on the splash screen.
One is a mistake. Both at the same time? That's intentionally going for the softcore porn.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
3) I fully expect this post to get deleted, under the newly-created "Inappropriate discussion of the aesthetics of the human form, subject to moderator discretion" clause. Hmmmmm. I wonder why that clause was instituted just now?
See my conclusion from point 2). You knew you were about to start using softcore porn to sell your product to teenagers, and you decided to institute a policy enabling you to delete or modify the posts that call you out on it.
I re-iterate: you should be ashamed of yourselves. -
Quote:Wow. Big of you to take the blame for this. There were some very good points brought up by those posting in this thread, and in sending me PM's, regarding the margin sizes shrinking. As such, I made a decision to change direction to something that wouldn't impact your reading pane size.
Thanks!

And yet, you couldn't take your decision far enough to cut off the hideous Escher Girl Pose that Penelope is sporting in version #2. Another quarter inch or so would have done it.
Or was this your Yoda-like way of emphasizing to the art team just how awful the #2 Penelope pose is?
There will be nothing quite like watching that broken butt peeking up over the tab bar with every load-in to drive the point home.
Now I have to go find out if Zombie Man's reskin works on macs. -
Ubelmann the Unknown was a classic for its time, and I haven't done it in forever.
Man, I think I've even forgotten who gives it out at this point.
But it sets the stage for all the future (concurrent?) time traveling that the 5th Column have been involved with.
It would be awesome to see it updated with some new mechanics and meshed into the current 5th storyline a little more tightly. -
Appropriate amounts of snarkiness in that list, but insufficient levels of geekiness.
How can you riff on Superman Red/Blue without knowing or mentioning the nature of its homage?
Also, the list fails without mentioning any of the abysmally awful Bad Girl Comics of the 90s. -
The number of posts in this thread make Bob the Watchlizard sing.
Grimjack was teh awesome. GJ was the Dark Knight before there was a Dark Knight.
I am a huge fan, and would love to see more.
I don't know how well the web-serialized version did a couple years ago, but unless it did reallllly well, I rather doubt we will see more. Hard-boiled detectives, fantastic/sci-fi/gladitorial or vanilla, don't seem to be flying well these days. -
-
This was the best Hulk portrayal yet, IMO. Ruffalo had all of Bill Bixby's charm and pent-up angst about his violent secret and yet he was still able to bring the SMASH! when it counted.
"Now you know my secret. I'm angry all the time!" -
Extrapolating this trend in forum background art, I predict that next year's revamp will feature Percy Winkley facing off against some Battalion minion.
'Cuz remember, kids! The game is all about YOU, not our most recent update!
Ugh. With the lack of a 'none-of-the-above' option, I've gone with the least offensive #1. -
I figure we need a thread devoted solely to the awesome lines contained in today's US superheroic movie release. If you do not know of which the title refers, or wish to avoid massive spoilers, then hie thee hence to the theater and watch Mr. Whedon's masterpiece.
I shall start us off with Dr. Banner's witty riposte to Loki's (abruptly interrupted) speech about how he is a god and we are all beneath him.
*ahem*
WAMMITY
BAMMITY
BLAPPITY
THWAPPITY
SMASH!
edit: Changed the title of the thread to be obvious to even those who haven't seen it. Just a precaution guys. -Z
//double secret probation edit- no worries, good point -
Quote:I try to at least dabble in all the mini-games offered. In the case of superpacks, my sole purchase of packs was with a Reward Token.I'm curious what percentage of superpacks bought was through the Paragon Reward Tokens repeatable. I have personally spent quite a bit of money on Paragon Points, but I didn't buy any of my superpacks through the Market.
The subsequent gameplay ('opening' the packs for the 'thrill' of discovery) was duller than dirt and the rewards were 'meh'. I won't be wasting any more tokens on this nonsense and I'm sure as heck not going to waste Paragon Points on them. -
Quote:You were hurt deeply by the 70s, weren't you?It was just a joke.. out of love to you all.
Sorry for the mental scars, but I thought that was the most epic image ever made, and the perfect way to describe the Pummit.
I understand.
This kind of thing would do that to anybody:

Quote:No, it's just a silly web page, like the Leekspin page Ironblade linked to. It loops catchy music to a very simple animation and does nothing else whatsoever apart from increasing a counter the longer you leave it running.I must be immune to game design, then, because I saw the page for around five seconds until I realised what was going on and then closed the tab it was in. Is this honestly supposed to hold my attention or is this just a joking parody of the decaying status of decent game design?
BUT: That basic achievement, of making a number go up, is what I was referring to as a fundamental of game design. How many games are based on just that simple a concept?
Obviously, installing a button you would have to click occasionally to create some interaction would intensify the 'game' experience. But I think the simple non-action of leaving the page running to increase the 'time passes' number is enough to draw people in.
I think the cuteness of the animation and catchiness of the music also factor in, but that's where aesthetics and personal taste enter the equation and things get tricky. That's the point where some game designer steps in and creates either a classic or a passing novelty. -
Quote:But what about the CoH Myspace Page?!More to the point:
Social Media is a *constantly* evolving thing. We will perpetually be testing new ideas, new approaches and emerging technology and trends via all of our Social Media Platforms. This could mean new platforms, such as Pinterest or Ustream, or new technology that makes sharing more interactive.
It's a brave new world, and the City of Heroes Community team will *always* be adapting and working to be on the cutting edge.
Huh?! C'mon, man! You're letting down your trailing-edge peeps just to look cool!
(need I print out the winkie? I'd better:)
-
How high can you make your numbers go?
As amusing as I find this page, I'm dead serious about the topic.
I think you could sell this as a smartphone game app and people would buy it, enjoy it, and recommend it to their friends. -

I saw this today and it reminded me of the various "Why aren't you using X?" posts here recently.
You may be small and wounded with a door closed in your face, but NEVER GIVE UP, folks!
