The Shawarma Initiative *SPOILERS* AVENGERS DISCUSSION *SPOILERS*
Okay,k I just got back from the movies.
LOVED IT!
After Hulk so gently showed Loki the floor, he said something, I think. But the audience (and myself) were laughing so loud I couldn't make it out. Anyone tell me what he said?
Thor: Take care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother.
Natasha Romanoff: He killed 80 people in 2 days.
Thor: ...He's adopted.
Also, pretty much any interaction between Cap and Coulson.
@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.
We just saw it as a studio...
And everyone went to schwarma for lunch.
Regarding the film: HO LEE CARP. Well done Joss, well done indeed.

*evil villain begins monolog...*
*WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK*
The way he just laid there on the ground afterwards had me rolling.

So two observations:
- The scene with all of them sitting around the table talking (on the ship) I totally was getting flashbacks of the dinner table in Firefly
- The Easter Egg scene, not the first one but the post credit one, am I the only one who saw that as a subtle nod to Favreau (ala: Swingers)?

This was the moment of the film for me.

The random Thor-punch was also just classic.

Oh yes, that was not Hulk Smash. That was "Watch this."
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
I thought the early banter between Stark and Banner in the lab was very good stuff. Was very pleased to see as much of Pepper Potts as we did. I think Gwynneth's "lines", especially in the jeans shorts, were pretty awesome.
This was the best Hulk portrayal yet, IMO. Ruffalo had all of Bill Bixby's charm and pent-up angst about his violent secret and yet he was still able to bring the SMASH! when it counted.
"Now you know my secret. I'm angry all the time!"
Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.

To quote Second Measure: "...and why didn't they have Mark Ruffalo playing the Hulk from the start?"

Yeah i just got back from seeing this. I was floored. Everybody got their time in the spotlight. Would have liked to have seen more of Cap's adjustment to the 21st century. What we got was still a whole can of awesome sauce.
Highlights:
-Widow's Fight scenes are the best in the film.
-The character interaction was almost perfect.
-Everybody had their moment to shine.
Oh yeah "Well then son, you got a condition."
I think the success of this film came in two parts:
1) Whedon.
2) The interaction between all the actors and the fact that it was obvious no one tried to take the spotlight from the rest of the cast.
I expected the movie to be a combination of awesome from the preceding films, but I was shocked at how much more the whole had than the sum of its parts.
Now what's this about a post-credit scene? I left after seeing Thanos. Are you saying I missed something after that!? CRAP! What was it!?
Guess I'll just have to force myself into seeing it again.
@Rylas
Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

The whole "For God and Country" aspect to his character really stood out and made the character more believable than any sort of antics or awkwardness of modern technology could have.
His response to Thor and Loki being "basically gods" did an amazing job of portraying this.

Honestly, I think it was just the right amount.

I also liked how Mjöllnir took being swung against the only person on earth who could lift it. Unless I misunderstood that part, of course.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
Probably will be down in a few minutes but here's the 2nd post credit scene.

Course I uh...will be going to see it again...

That moment was amazing. And it was pretty obvious that Banner was in control by the smirk on his face.

I said it in my initial summary. Stark got some of the best lines in the film, but the Hulk got all of the best scenes.
And the flying monkey reference:
Cap: I understood that one!
I figure we need a thread devoted solely to the awesome lines contained in today's US superheroic movie release. If you do not know of which the title refers, or wish to avoid massive spoilers, then hie thee hence to the theater and watch Mr. Whedon's masterpiece.
I shall start us off with Dr. Banner's witty riposte to Loki's (abruptly interrupted) speech about how he is a god and we are all beneath him.
*ahem*
WAMMITY
BAMMITY
BLAPPITY
THWAPPITY
SMASH!
edit: Changed the title of the thread to be obvious to even those who haven't seen it. Just a precaution guys . -Z
