this is roughly as "accidental" as the Staff fighting video and every other "Viral" thing that's been done thus far.

It's also rather pointless; they don't need to fake "accidents" to release videos or screenshots. Every time Black Pebble crys cause some info was leaked to early an Angel gets its wings.
It's happened in the past. And hey, it's free marketing because it spreads viral so fast.

I'm not entirely this story can be told, due to the circumstances surrounding it. Moderators, please feel free remove to it.
Once upon a time, we were testing another version of the game. A powerset was leaked (Beam rifle).
When it was discovered (like the Beast Mastery - someone created a blaster AT and noticed a new set), the forums went crazy. A redname jumped in and asked how we knew about said power set since it wasn't supposed to be in the build..
Our response was "Uh, it's currently in the game"
To which the response from the redname was "oh. That's not supposed to be there. Enjoy"

Yes, this was an accidental leak. The one responsible for said leak was promptly blown to bits. Reportedly, he got better.

Is there anyone among the current player base that actually did not know this set was coming? I mean, the devs have been dropping the most obvious hints. The only was they could have made it more obvious would be to say "eastbay asteryay isay omingcay".

So it seems on beta we have got a power set for masterminds called
"Beast Mastery" With all the powers definitions and some of the powers being unfinished and what not its in its very early stages of development. Now the thing is I thought things like new powersets the developers always had to keep extremly hush hush, I mean the tier 9 of darkness control set alone was a big mystery.
So Im guessing this is a HUGE blunder on someones part in the studio. Marketing department would be going nuts right? Me personally am just extremly dissapointed cause I was really looking forward to seeing dark control but I'll have to wait and I guess it's not that big a deal to us the players anyway.
It's also possible maybe dark control was causing system crashes or something last minute and instead of releasing nothing they put a set that wasn't finished but at least not causing a huge problem so we could stay happy? lol I don't know Im just curious as to whats happening in the studio now with such a mistake reveal of a power set.
