"I'm soloing" ... "ur selfish"

I wS soloing yesterday doing some arcs and I got a tell reading "can i join ur team pls?"

I responded "sorry, I'm soloing right now".
The reply "ur selfish. Let me join u" came back.
I Didn't bother replying to that.

Soloing is selfish now?

I've ran into similar situations before. I've caught alot of flak when trying to get enough people together for trying to solo tf's.

I like to play a lot during the day while im doing other things like paperwork/replying to emails etc, basically so i can be in a mission and say kill a mob or two then do something else out of the game then back in the game [that sort of thing].

I get a LOT of messages asking me why i aint teaming up with them and it does get annoying when they dont believe you when you say you either just want to solo or because your going at your own pace while doing other things. Even gotten as far as me going on hide last few weeks from being constantly asked about it

If they do that, what you should do is let them join you, then leech the whole mission behind them.

Serious answer now: leave flag red and don't answer tells, simple (unless it's from an ingame friend but he'll probably understand).

I solo a lot due to distractions and in general just wanting to take my time.

I had a rash of "can I join" requests, all in the same week, shortly after Issue 20. Upon my reply that I was soloing, most would either not send anything back or I'd get an "K, have fun" reply.

This one guy...

He sent the tell asking if he could join my team, with an invite appearing as soon as I got the tell. I declined the invite and told them I wasn't on a team.
They sent another invite and replied with "U could be with me."

I declined the invite and explained that I appreciated the offer but wasn't really doing much, had laundry going etc.

10 minutes later I get another invite popup and tell from them. I'm guessing they either didn't realize they'd already talked to me (going down the list) or were trolling.

I replied with "Still soloing "
They send yet another invite and at this piont I just accept it. I'm a bit more frustrated than I should be so I don't say anything in Team. I was in the process of upgrading enhancements so I just kept doing what I was doing. A few minutes later he appears in the shop. I compliment him on his concept and notice that he has the 3yr vet badge. I again suggest that he look for a real team as I wasn't interested in inviting anyone and give him a brb so I could check on laundry.

I got distacted by a phone call and didn't return to the game for 10 minutes or so.
When I did...
He'd invited a full team, then proceeded to set a mission and run like normal. This is when things got trollish.

After seeing the full team window my eyes widened a bit and then I hear the tell chime. It's one of the team members chiding me for holding them up.

I scroll up and read the chatlines from the team. One of the team members asks me if I'm coming. Without reply obviously. Then the leader, the guy that begged to join me, says lets just go. I keep reading.
After a few minutes of what I assume is mission sweeping on their part another member inquires about my status. At this point you'd expect the leader to clue his new team in and kick me. Instead he goes on a tirade about griefers like me ruining the game for everyone. That I spammed the stuffing out of him for an invite and then pull a stunt like this. I've heard the tell chime 2 more times while reading...
Looking over the tells, one is from a random team member calling me something I can't print here. The other is from the leader.

It simply reads... "So, ready to team yet?"

Oy! Every since then, I send a single reply that I'm soloing and then ignore every subsequent request. Some people get their jollies anyway they can.

/hide -> hide from searches

I haven't been unhidden from random search for years now.

This is so relevant to my playtime in the recent weeks for some reason. Just earlier this evening, while soloing hero tips, I got a blind tell. I handled this one pretty much how I usually do (paraphrased):

Them: Team?
Me: I pull for Duke, if you mean basketball.
Them: Kill things?
Me: Only when in-season and I have my permit.
Them: Run mishes?
Me: Sometimes I do, sometimes I street sweep. Tips are usually my faves.
Them: Tina Mac?
Me: I usually only listen to classic rock.

Didn't hear anymore after that. Stringing out a full sentence must be tiring.

Most of the time I just say that I'm not interested in teaming, sometimes it's just unfortunate that I set my LFT flag, do some roleplaying and then I get a tell asking me if I want to team, those are the most embarrassing ones since if the story I'm involved with it good enough, I have to apologise for the false flag. >_>

As for invites, if they keep popping the invite window up after I decline so many times, I just move the window to a corner that won't obscure me so much and be on my merry way, can't invite me if I'm still deciding.

Sometimes I'm coocing or eating at same time and just doing something minor things but I don't want to hide myself. It's not good idea in small server. I'm just telling that I'm slightly busy right now. "Sorry but we are full" was good lie a few issues ago It was easier than explain the whole true story and result was same.

Once I told someone that we are doing SG things right now but he didn't liked that. So sometimes it's just easier to lie a little bit. Most of people still understand the point.

I haven't had people hassle me for "join ur team" in a long while, myself, so I don't have any horror stories. I have had people go off on be about "Why play an MMO if you want to solo?" pretty much every time I bring up Dark Astoria, though.

Why? Because I have a guest over and I'm playing on the side. Because I'm watching Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel and I'm only actually playing during the ridiculously long commercial breaks. Because I'm expecting dinner to be done in 10-15 minutes. Because I'm posting on the forums and only playing in 1-spawn increments between Alt-Tabbing away. Because I don't know you, don't like you and want to be by myself right now.

That argument isn't all that common, though.

Also, when I asked for help filling for my solo defender STF attempt (failed at Aeon), people were universally supportive.

The less you say, the better. Heck, just lie a little. If the tells keep coming I guess I could hide from search, but then I keep my tell window seperate from my chat channel window. So I can just switch chat windows and go about my merry.

Personally I've never had an issue. On the rare occasion I have been playing solo and been asked I've not found any problem with declining. Usually a "Sorry not on for long" is sufficient.

If this does seriously bother you, set the Search Options to not looking and use the /hide function.

I have a solo supergroup.

One random invite- I'll ignore.

The second invite and I'm adding a note "annoying, do not team with"

I have two standard replies,

1. no reply

2. "Sorry about to log"

Typically if someone is relatively polite and not using speech like Freakshow, I'll give them a quick "about to log" or "not on very long". If they are overly aggressive or use LEET speak I just don't reply.
