Credit for all the downtime

After reading this thread, I'm convinced that many people here have no lives at all. To complain because a /video game/ is down for necessary maintenance is just pathetic. I honestly don't care if you think you deserve the game to be running 24/7 because that just isn't going to happen. The game has been down for maybe a day when you add up all the maintenances this entire month. You guys are really complaining about that? Grow up, children. Get out of your computer chairs and go do something else until the game is back up.

I don't seem to have a USB port on my book. Where do I connect my mouse??

But but...I like my computer chair. It's all comfy and squishy and it spins.

A day spread out over multiple days, all in the prime time of a particular customer group. It's not a case of 'Oh it's down for an hour I'll watch Dr Who' it's a case of 'It's down today, oh well maybe tomorrow. Oh wait it's down tomorrow too, maybe I should cancel my subscription since they did the same thing last week."

210 PP sounds fair to me as compensation.

My book has a power socket; I've not read off dead tree since I got it!

Instead you burned the dead trees to power your book.

I know it sucks...but they're giving warning and they're doing it for a server upgrade. Who doesn't want a server upgrade?

Really, I don't see the problem with missing a couple of days if that's your prime time playing time (and I say this as someone's who's work scheldule means I tend to login during those down times for a couple of hours, so I'm missing out as well, so this isn't me saying it as someone who gets to go "Hahaha...I was at work anyways")

Now if they wanted to give some compensation like whatever...I wouldn't complain. But as someone who loses out on game time due to this (my work schedule really is that suckie) I don't feel it's needed.

Now if it was every day for a week straight...maybe...but it hasn't been that at all. And the worst of it was when i21 hit *sigh* My one day off a week and I had to wait...and wait...and wait...

This is the trap I see oh so many falling in to.

This is LIVE - no longer the Beta test. We are paying them to BETA TEST the game. They call it a "Head start" do you feel like you are getting a Head Start or do you feel like you are Beta testing?

This is terrible customer service on the par with AT&T.

Because everyone knows that a subscription for an entertainment service is equally important as critical phone line service

Somebody call the BBB! (If you have AT&T, GL not having the call dropped.)

But seriously, not only did they recently launch a major patch, but they also did major hardware upgrades to the servers. If you can't deal with that, it might be time to find another hobby for a bit

Uh...was this problem a beta test problem, or did it have more to do with server upgrades? The two schedules might have been independent of each other. Also, I'd like to point out that in an MMO environment just because something works relatively well in a beta test environment doesn't always mean it'll hold up going live for a variety of reasons. Seriously, it feels like this is a lot of people's first rodeo around here and I know that a lot of people have been here longer than I have.

None of this is beta testing, this is simply server upgrades.

The past few unexpected outages are most likely due to the high volume of players that only comes with a live environment. If enough of us would have participated in the Beta, they could have anticipated these issues.

Actually the headstart should have started earlier, but we forgave for that transgression. But more down time? PP sounds fair as compensation....210 is reasonable.

Are you kidding me? You would have rather them launched it even earlier, with less time to prepare, to result in more downtime?

Then he could ask for more pp for compensation.

Of course he would, then he could complain even more about server maintenance and ask for even more PP "owed" to him. Genius!

Edit: LOL, Blue_Mourning beat me to it

Well Paragon better get him his points quick before he gets caught in an infinite compensation loop and bankrupts Paragon. They're making those points out of real money, right?

No that's way too much.

To fairly compensate players for downtime the devs would have to tabulate exactly how many hours the servers were down and then add up how much that time actually cost the players out of their subscription fees.

30 days = 720 hours

Dividing the hours into the monthly $15 dollar subscription fee gets you just over .02 cents an hour, and since our devs are generous they'd most likely round it up to .03 cents an hour.

So the game would have to be offline for at least 83 hours just to be equivalent to 210 PP. That would be about three and a half straight days of server downtime.

Of course all the above only applies to unscheduled downtime. They scheduled the current downtimes and told us in advance they were happening so they wouldn't be compensated for as per the EULA.
