Dick is Nightwing again. Babs is Batgirl again. Damien is still Robin. Still no word yet on the status of Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown or Cassandra Cain, though...

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

OK, I admit that I like Damien!Robin a bit, but seriously? Man, DC is committed to erasing the late-80s to late-90s, aren't they?

Well, hopefully we see a return of Stephanie Brown as the Spoiler. But I'd rather see Tim Drake.

Also I don't see the difference between father/son duo of Bruce/Damian, when it seems like the only difference from Bruce/Dick is they have a blood relation.

There's also the whole "Damian is a knife freak that would be more suited to apprenticing the Joker" bit.

But ya, I have to agree with Foamie. On the upside, there's years worth of Legend of the Dark Knight, Nightwing, Robin, Gotham Knight, and other stuff still to read.

What a sad time to be a Batman fan. They don't know how to finish the current story so instead are rebooting the entire franchise.

Also, isn't it against forum rules to talk about DC now?

Meh.

If they're going to do a real 60s-style reboot instead of the half-arsed messing about they've been doing ever since the '86 Crisis then they need to chop out all the deadwood.

We don't need a half dozen shmoes running around in Robin tights. It's pretty clear that Grayson/Nightwing has enough of a hold on the B List to keep around, but everyone else needs to be on the chopping block. Pick one- Damien, Tim, Jason, who-the-heck-ever looks like they'll relate the best to 21st century sensibilities, and keep him as Robin; then axe the rest.

Retcon them all into Earth 23, Limbo, or wherever. We all know they'll be brought back eventually anyway, so just wipe the slate clean now and give everyone room to grow into the old familiar molds again.

I wonder if Grant Morrison is a wee bit pissed that DC is essentially erasing everything he's done on the Bat-books for the last 5-6 years? Anything about him or from him has been noticably absent since DC made their big announcement. Not that I've completely liked or been in favor of everything he's done, but he clearly had a very detailed and involved plan for the Bat-family that has just gone poof.

I know they're trying to make everyone younger again, but just how much de-aging are we going to be seeing? Its a trickle down effect. If you de-age all the big guns, then you HAVE to de-age all the Titans generation, which means de-aging all the Teen Titans age-group that came after that. Seems like a logistical nightmare to me.

But, on the plus side, I've still got my boxes of comics with everything I liked before, so they're free to do as they will.

Um. Stay away from Tim Drake if you know what's good for you, sir.

Can't talk about the game based upon DC properties. But that's about it, unless you've got something specific from a mod saying talking about comic books in the comic book forum is now verboten.

It was simpler back in the 50s when comics editors could just assume that the readership would turn over every four or five years, wasn't it?

"We are done with Universe altering events after Final Crisis"

I think I'm done with DC. I'm so sick of them rebooting after every few years like I got sick of "crisis this" and "zero hour that"

ALSO: Renumbering Action Comics and Detective Comics should be against the law.

I think they underestimated how bad Final Crisis would be. They put too much faith in Morrison to tackle a large scale event with large scale ramifications.

True, but this reboot completely negates Blackest Night and Brightest Day.

If any company needs a reboot, I mean REALLY needs one, it's Marvel!

Indeed. Tim Drake is my favourite Robin. Not that I dislike Dick Grayson, but I like him better as Nightwing (preferably with the awesome big collar).

And goshdangit, Steph is a good Batgirl. Babs fits as Oracle, though I find it...odd...that in a universe littered with high tech and magic, that she still can't walk.

What I don't get is why is there are these storylines going on right now like Batman Inc., Flash Point, and the Green Lantern search for the spectrum avatars if it will all be null come fall.

Posted

Why are these stories going on still? My guess is to make money. Except maybe the Flashpoint storyline which is the lead in/ tie in/prequel to the reboot of the DC universe.

Drake would certainly be my choice for Robin. He's the best fleshed out of all the johhny-come-latelys, and the one who's actually best at the job. I just want to see them pick somebody and run with him for a few years without needing a replacement.

But they're keeping Todd in this newfound continuity in addition to Robin? Grrrr!
