When I get home from work, I'll be drinking fine scotch and hanging out until the lights go out. Kinda hoping there's some kind of big bang at the end, but I'm guessing its just going to be a fade into black...
  2. Okay, Rick is going a little gonzo there, but its about damn time someone got around to cleaning out those hallways. That's one of the things that's been driving me crazy. I get that they cleared out their cell block, but how on earth do you eat, live, or sleep comfortably in that place knowing there are other walkers all over inside? You don't know the layout, you don't know what doors and gates could be open or sealed.

The first thing I'd have done after securing your safe house is to get a blueprint or schematic of the prison layout, and then methodically go through the entire prison and wipe out anything that is still shambling. Yeah, its a lot of "killing" and a lot of work and a lot of cleanup, but it is the only way I'd ever get a good night's sleep under that roof. So good on you Rick! Now go finish the damn job!
  3. Just walk away man. Quitting cold turkey is always the best way. I'm hanging up my cape and heading off to play some life.
  4. And Lori goes down!! We have a winner!!

Poor T-Dog though. My wife was screaming at him about that walker coming up from behind.
  5. He was in game a couple of weeks back. First time I'd seen him in ages. But I haven't seen him around since.
  6. Come on out to Champion for the very last Tanker Tuesday. Hopefully we'll have a great turnout, maybe see a lot of old faces come out to say goodbye to the longest running player event in the game.

As always, 9PM est, Kings Row by the IP gate. Come on out and smash!
  7. *renewing my chant from last season*

please make lori die.. please make lori die.. please make lori die...
  8. Great turnout last night. I think we had over 50 tankers there. Got a lot of teams off and rolling. Ran a 5 tank Mender Lazarus TF, and had a blast, even though Nosferatu and his damn AoE heal almost foiled us. Wonderful as always to see all my fellow tank enthusiasts out there. #97, and our final TT, will be next month. Can't wait!
  9. Hard to believe its the 8th anniversary of Tanker Tuesday on Champion Server. For everyone who's still around, come on out on Tuesday 10/2 (9pm est, 8pm cst, 7pm mst, 6pm pst). Meet as always in Kings Row at the IP gate. Come on out for the traditional Stomping of Something Bigger Than You, and then we'll split up into teams and go smash stuff!

  11. I dropped all my DC books when they went to the DCnU. What a load of crap. I get the point behind the idea, but good lord, show some professionalism and have some editorial direction behind it BEFORE you do it. What a hot mess they've made of things.
  12. Must get a record of the Striga Isle Nutpunch.
  13. Tanker Tuesday has always been my favorite part of this game. Never anything quite as fun as just massing a gang of tanks and stomping anything and everything into the dirt. In my time I got to run every task force and trial in the game (with the exception of Tin Mage and the incarnate stuff) on all tank teams. Always an absolute blast.

Highest kudos must go to Ring (Ringslide ftw!) for starting the whole crazy thing in the first place. To Kiloton, Netminder, and AceMace for keeping it going. To Pep Rally for spurring the jump to other servers, and to Warboss and Rangle and all the others that made it a regular event on the other servers, while coming over to Champion as well.

And to the old school tanks from way back in my day who made it so fun on Champion to begin with: Myr and Dinah and Pep and Ace and Eso Laki and Titano and Gideon and Lady Tara and Kay Moonpetal and David Dun and Lil' Mama... most are gone now, but never forgotten.
  14. I'm hoping this will be good, and that the network doesn't interfere too heavily in it. Just glad to see someone taking a shot at something. Hopefully the Powers pilot doesn't suck, and they'll give that one a green light too.

For my money, the best comic books premise to turn into a TV series would be Rucka & Brubaker's Gotham Central series. That would just KILL as a TV series.
  15. Three of the top four share the same problem. They were all made WAY too long after the previous movie. 16 years for Phantom Menace, 20 for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 16 years for Godfather 3. With that much time gone by, there is simply no way that you could ever make a movie that would be good enough to live up to the hype and the build up after so long. I freely admit all of those movies were disappointing and failed to live up to the standards of their franchise. But, they pretty much had the odds stacked up against them. They not only had to live up to the actuality of how good their predecessors were, but also the myth and legend of how good the previous movies were. That they so blatantly failed to do either makes them that much more disappointing.
  16. I'm interested to see how they're going to explain the existence of Stargirl at all. Her costume and powers (cosmic belt & cosmic rod) are taken from the original Star-Spangled Kid (who, oh yeah, doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth) and from Starman (who, oh yeah, also doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth). And the only reason she ever came across either the costume or the powers in the beginning was because her step-father was Stripesy, the partner of the aforementioned Star-Spangled Kid (who, oh yeah, yet again doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth).

And yet there is Stargirl, pretty much exactly as she appeared on the old New Earth. Cuz yeah, that makes sense.
  17. The silliest thing in this entire line of thought has to be the assumption that Supe's reproductive equipment and methodology is compatible with humans to begin with. He's an alien! From a different species, different planet, different solar system. The chances of Kryptonian plumbing in any way, shape, or form aligning with human plumbing is pretty damn miniscule.
  18. Dave Stevens' Rocketeer comics are pitch perfect for what they are. And they're visually amazing. The closer they stick to Stevens' original material, the better off they'll be. I'd love to see them go back and revisit this character on the big screen, but be true to what the Rocketeer really is.
  19. I just have 4 words for this:

    Where's my gorram jetpack?

Let me be reiterate too, my beef with it isn't just the cancellation of RR, but that something's just off about the whole thing entirely. I wasn't all that invested in the pre-New 52 stuff because I'd only been collecting since mid-2010 (not like many others who've been into it since the 80s with CoIE), I was just getting my feet wet. But there was a feel to it, that's just off now. Like I said, I was truly interested in the Bat-stories from Year One to post-Final Crisis where my collections started. But now, I'm just in a "meh" state when it comes to what's going on in the DCnU.
I totally understand your feelings here. I have pretty much every Bat-comic that came out post-Crisis right up till the Flashpoint event. I LOVE the way they built Batman's "family" up, the extended support group in Gotham City, and everything about it. The character development in Gotham in particular was amazing. Dick and Barbara and Tim and Stephanie and Cassandra and Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya... I could go on and on.

And that happened all over the place. When they let the 2nd generation of heroes step up to replace their mentors, they made better characters in a lot of ways. I don't care what anyone says, Wally was a much more interesting Flash than Barry. Kyle (and Guy for that matter) are much more interesting GLs than Hal. And don't even get me started on how they've marginalized the Martian Manhunter in the DCnU.

What I really wish they had done was to just declare that the old DCU was Earth-1 (or any other designation they wanted to use). Then say that the DCnU is Earth-27 or 31 or 43 or anything they wanted. They could have moved wholesale to the new dimension within the Multiverse, while leaving the previous incarnation intact.
  21. The DCnU has been less than impressive. They pretty much scrapped their entire established history and continuity, for a new, sleek, and streamlined history that's supposed to attract new readers. That's fine. I understand that as a business decision.

BUT... it pretty much craps on all the long-time readers (like me) who happened to really love and enjoy the convoluted and often bizarre history and back story of their characters. The piecemeal way in which they're trying to say that some things happened and some didn't, that some things are canon and some aren't, it just doesn't work.

They should have had the balls to just come out and flat out say "we're starting over from scratch, forget everything you knew before, its done". The half-***** "soft" reboot just doesn't fly, and pretty much tanks the story behind many of their characters.

I dropped all my DC titles when the Nu kicked in. I've browsed through them since then and haven't seen any reason to regret my decision. It may be a DCU, but its not my DCU.
