My Global was eaten and now I'm....

Heya all, just thought I'd start this thread so anyone affected with the Global name change could put what their old one used to be and their new one down so we know who you are now.

I'm still @Kallandra, but my alt account has yet to be re-named as all the ones I'd like are taken

I'm not @TechbotALPHA....sans the space *twitch* ugh...

someone actually had my global i guess on NA, i logged in and had to change my global, since it made my global something weird

atleast i was able to go back to what it was when i 1st started

now i'm @Midah

also it has been a few yrs since i logged into the forums, had to remember what to use to get on forums

My Euro handle was brutally and mercilessly changed from @Golden Girl to @Golden-Girl.

We understand and sympathize that many of you had long-standing connections to your global names, but we are certainly hopeful that the benefits you will gain from the increased number of available character slots, as well as the increase in the number of people you can play with, will make up for the inconvenience of having to change your global name.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna name myself. The merge left me named after one of my lowbie alts which will have to be changed at some point.

Thanks for your understanding but no, it doesn't make up for it at all. I play on Defiant, sometimes stray to Union but really don't need 11 more servers where I don't know anyone. I'd rather have kept my identity thanks.

Well for 7 years I have been @Soul Storm and because I received no communication alerting me otherwise I thought I was safe with that. I logged in to find out my new global was @Torsion - one of my lowbie alts. I managed to rename my account handle to @SoulStormEU and some semblance of normality has returned but having literally no communication about it to prepare me and a generic apology (I can see why this is all you are able to say because you picked a method and had to go through with it) really doesn't make it all okay. To be honest I kinda feel like someone with an american account has stolen my identifiy a little bit.

If it's any consolation, Torsion is a GREAT name... I'da kept that, were I you.

I logged on this morning thinking I'd still find my global as @Royal, as it always has been. But since I wasn't sent an email or anything otherwise to tell me someone else apparently had my name it automatically changed to @Doctor Desecrator.

The Portal geek in me decided to step in and I've now been renamed to @Wheatley.

I saw on test that my global is taken.
So my name instead of Cat Astrophy is now Cat-Astrophy.

I had to use a huge amount of thought and imagination to change from @Riff to @Riffster

I wish I'd read Dante's post first cuz I'd have changed it to Epic Facepalm if I'd had my wits about me ;-)

Like everyone here, I am disappointed I lost my chat handle (was @BW, currently @Caterham, a character I only made the other day, for now). An email warning would have been nice, or maybe they should have considered an alternative method of dealing with clashes (like "who ever has had this chat handle the longest gets precedence").
Also, I wonder if it was wise to have a reactivation week at the same time as doing this. Maybe some of the inactive accounts wouldn't have clashed otherwise?
