    Star Wars Kinect

Just to clarify, this is Han Solo and Lando Clarissian doing a dance-along cover of a Jason Derulo song somewhere on Cloud City.

Those things make no sense to anyone who doesn't already know Star Wars and will only mystify and/or enrage people who do, so why do it? When you add in the other parts of the game, like the "strip-along with slave Leia" it starts verging on a self-parody.

There are plenty of ways that Lucasarts could have brought Star Wars to the attention of "the next young generation" without stooping to whatever the hell this can be called.

And I'm not even a massive Star Wars fan.

    Star Wars Kinect

There are no words, this has to be seen to be believed. George Lucas really has stopped caring about Star Wars.

  3. I'm in, again, of course

I'll be sure to coordinate with Dante in advance to avoid any nasty fashion faux pas.

It's the eternal stakes-raising problem; if you kill or say you will kill a character then it adds drama and/or suspense to your story, but once they're dead then what? You can't just keep killing people off in more and more dramatic ways because you'll run out of people, but if you bring back everyone who was "dead" a few weeks later then it removes the sense of drama from the deaths.

It's the problem that Mario has (Where do you go from "Galaxy", apart from "Galaxy 2" and even then...) and that shows like Doctor Who & 24 have; you've got to find ways to one-up the previous dramatic event in a reality where the world and/or universe is threatened on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, back in the SSA...meh. Storywise it was OK but gameplaywise is was pretty dreadful, especially heroside. Fight lots of family ambushes that spawn out of nowhere. Fight lots of psychic projection ambushes that spawn out of nowhere. Fight lots of Rikti that spawn out of nowhere. *yawn*.
  5. This is a known issue (it's in the i21.5 known issues thread) and will apparently be fixed in a coming patch.

In the meantime, you can make use of /wdwsave & /wdwload or /wdwsavefile <name> & /wdwloadfile <name> to save and load your window layouts.
  6. It is this user's avatar being hosted on the webng.com domain.

It appears to be just another free webhost, but poorly policed free webhosts are often used for malware distribution, presumably hence the warnings.

    watch out

Caveat emptor, as the Roman power levelers used to say.
  8. The_Spad_EU

    Broken UI

/wdwsave and /wdwload will allow you to save and reload window layouts to help with this.

/wdwsavefile <name> and /wdwloadfile <name> will do the same but allow you to save multiple layouts if you have different ones for different characters.
  9. In addition to the above, when CoH *was* on Steam they neglected it massively to the point that when they switched to requiring the NCSoft launcher those of us with Steam copies of the game were left unable to play it through Steam and never got a satisfactory response from support about it.
  10. Science is the result of experimentation (See: Spider-man)
Tech is using technology to achieve your goals (See: Iron Man)

I suspect you'd be looking for a Science origin with what you're going for.
  11. Why not just wait until your account goes premium and then buy it?

The pets don't really have any AI to speak of, which is part of the problem; they just cycle their attacks as they're available which inevitably means at some point they only have melee attacks available and as ranged attacks don't have a minimum range they never back out again unless instructed to.

That and the regular NPC scripting sometimes causes them to run into melee for no apparent reason, but mobs do the same thing.

Read the sections on the Beta and Test servers respectively.
  14. It was going to be 3 months, but that was when they were planning to award all reward tokens upfront, which they can't currently do, so it's now "undetermined".

And you have to be Tier 9 to claim any of the Tier 9 and Tier 9 VIP rewards.
  15. The other problem with the Shadow Shard is that it's 40-50 content and it's been quite clear that over the last few years if it's not Incarnate content then the game may as well end at 30 as far as the devs are concerned.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this might change, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
  16. The biggest problem that 3D has had this generation is that very few movies have a) Shot in 3D to start with and tacking it on afterwards always looks poor and b) Not made 3D a gimmick (hurling things at the screen, etc) as opposed to a part of the environment.

The only movie I've seen with genuinely good 3D was Avatar, because it was shot with 3D in mind and was used as a backdrop to the rest of the film rather than shoved in your face every 30 seconds.
  17. Thing is, it would also require changing the SSTFs as most (all?) of them have missions that take place outside of the SS.
  18. It's been suggested many times, I don't think we've had much in the way of official response to it.
  19. It's still a way off and they haven't really show a lot of stuff but it looks promising, though I would feel more confident about it if Relic were involved given their 40K history.

And by the time you get to hundreds or thousands of different "bug that bothers a fraction of a fraction of a percent of people a fraction of the time" you start giving people a bad impression of the game.

Bug management and resolution is a tedious, boring, resource-hungry necessity with any program.
  21. Unfortunately, the push since the launch of Freedom seems to be for more content rather than better content (not that two are mutually exclusive).

I can understand the temptation when you've had all these things you've been wanting to do for ages and suddenly you can, but I can't help but feel that they might be better served by putting a bit more dev time into bug fixing and a little less into new shinies.

Yes, you want to provide a constant stream of content to attract and keep the new players, but if you allow the old content to stagnate and leave issues unfixed then it doesn't help with the medium-long term image of the game for those new players.

    What Not MARTy

All together now: MARTy is to catch and stop game-breaking exploits without having to down the servers immediately to patch them, it is *not* to stop Power Leveling, Farming, RPing or spamming /Help with "LF DFB LOL" unless you're doing so by use of teh sploitz.

    That is all.

As much as I agree with you, you can pretty much say the same thing about Fire Armour too.

  25. Drivers on the desktop, while not ancient, are a few months old and given the issues with older ATI drivers I'd strongly recommend updating them to 11.9 as well.
