I'd say he cares very much providing a license to a product that hits the next young generation almost four decades after his original product. What would you expect him to do, "NOT" capitalize on a ready made revenue stream?

Help me understand your perspective.

Just to clarify, this is Han Solo and Lando Clarissian doing a dance-along cover of a Jason Derulo song somewhere on Cloud City.

Those things make no sense to anyone who doesn't already know Star Wars and will only mystify and/or enrage people who do, so why do it? When you add in the other parts of the game, like the "strip-along with slave Leia" it starts verging on a self-parody.

There are plenty of ways that Lucasarts could have brought Star Wars to the attention of "the next young generation" without stooping to whatever the hell this can be called.

And I'm not even a massive Star Wars fan.

So you are mad that it does not line up with the movie lore? I have to say I am more than sure the sole purpose of any licensed game like this is not to convey lore to the next generation, the revised movies stand tall for that job.

This is the sesame dance street type treatment to appeal to the young people into that sort of thing. I doubt that restricting the dance songs to lore based stuff etc... would make any sense business wise and that has to be strongly considered as the primary focus here.

It's a built in audience of young and older folks that are into the kinect dance deal, how can they just ignore that revenue stream and be considered being responsible to their stockholders? Serious question.

Honestly don't see why anyone would care much.

I think Lucas trashed the franchise with the new trilogy, so I pay no attention whatsoever to anything Star Wars(which begs the question of why I opened this thread, but I was bored I suppose). However, I also don't pay much attention to what is put out. If people like it, they buy it. If they don't they don't. I won't be buying it, so I don't have to care.

If you think it is awful, don't buy it. That ends all the interaction you should care about. The existence of said product will have no impact on you at all (or on me either).

Too many alts to list.

'Prostitution' is the word you're looking for. Or close to it. The actual word, which starts with 'W' and rhymes with 'boring', is bleeped by these forums.

Wouldn't buy it. But then, how is this any different than a Star Wars christmas really?

Folks love these dancing games. Folks love Star Wars. Combine the two, and you get a fun little game families can enjoy.

Take the stick outta your *** and just have fun, man. This isn't ruining the original movies or whatever other silly notions you have about it.

Quite. It's a bit of fun, much as the Lego Star Wars games aren't exactly faithful.. but are huge fun, and also by far the most ludicrously addictive SW games, short of the original Galaxies. Before the dark times. Before the NGE. It was if a million toons cried out in terror, and were suddenly nerfed...

Also,it's STILL less embarrassing to fans than the Holiday Special, or Episode 1.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I'd say the holiday special is worse than episode 1, at least episode 1 has seen the light of day after it's original release.

The only problem I have to say is...well, it makes Lando and Han look pretty silly dancing like hip-hop background dancers. Certainly doesn't make them look cool. And you *can* dance and look cool at the same time, they just aren't...

...this is no longer a matter for discussion.

Well, I played the link for my 6 year old daughter and 10 year old son, both of them love the Just Dance games and enjoy Star Wars also. They thought it was pretty great, so I say Lucas has succeeded in reaching the audience he is trying for. Heck, my daughter wants to see the 3D releases in the theater.

Don't I know you???

The only Crime here is that the song is so catchy.

The fallacy in comparing anything Lucas puts out today to the Star Wars Holiday Special, is that the Holiday Special is the one piece of Star Wars dreck Lucas actually disavows. Anything else that is officially licensed presumably has his stamp of approval.

That said, I didn't watch the clip and don't really care what kind of Star Wars stuff they put out anymore. My Star Wars collecting days ended about three years before I discovered COH, and this is a MUCH cheaper hobby.

I'm not sure which is more hilariously bad, the lyrics of the song or the names of the dance moves.

After looking at this link I think the target has expanded well beyond dance game fans.

Well.. whatever is said about Star Wars by Geaorge Lucas is canon and truth... whatever any fan says...

This game is actually made as 'based upon' and meant to bring the Star Wars concept to a younger generation... And to make money again on an old licence...

Lucas makes millions again.. young kids love it.. new generation goes see Star Wars in 3D.

Lucas wins and is a blasted genious in that. Earning loads of money and securing future income! Whatever any fan says about him.. he comes out on top!
