QoL Issues
Fair enough, I just don't like how they're pretty much designed to be autofired though. I really think they'd be much more fun and interesting as something that can be turned on permanently out-of-the-box (with costs to compensate) or something that can only be flipped on in emergencies or before big fights. Right now they're somewhere between the two and it doesn't suit my tastes.
|
No need to autofire it.
Dull Pain, even when I have it perma, Id save it for when I need the heal, not "Oh look, I'm still at full health, let me fire it again just to keep my HP capped".
Now, I could see a reason to keep Hasten on Autofire.

1. The whole problem with the 'Warning you're selling useful salvage' is that it always goes off. People have memorized recipes and these inevitable cover most salvage. When deciding if salvage is useful the Memorized recipies should NOT count. This would eliminate 80% of the bogus warnings and make this more tolerable.
2. The lag issues with the power tray saying somethings recharged when it is not is driving me nuts. The patient escape on BAF is very time critical and if you're wasting time trying and failing to get the power to go off it is really frustraing.
3. During respecs please for the love of god do NOT dump all the temp powers into the trays. the sorting is really annoying. Primaries Secondaries Pools PPP/APP Incarnate Accolades and veteran powers only. If we want one of the zillions of temps we all have let us put it in the tray.
4. Increase the number of attached trays to 5. and actually remember a character tray config. If i load a character that has fewer trays than the last one i still have to remove the extra trays. Also give us some smaller tray options 2x4, 2x3, 1x4,1x6,1x8
5. In the market interface if we click on something to expand it( salvage in the list or an item in a slot) there is no option to shrink it back. This eats up a lot of real estate if your going through your list if items that you're trying to buy/sell. we can only shrink it by expanding something else. And if i expand on salvage in the market's list please center it in the display area. expanding it and finding it half scrolled out of the viewing area is annoying. Yo might also use short abbreviations in all enhancment decriptions in a recipies title. End Mod instead of Endurance Modification. Be consistant and always use the shorten up the recipies names which are often too long to display.
Bonus round.

I'd like to start this thread for people to post their top 5 I20 quality of life issue that they would like to see addressed.
Here are mine: 1. Reduce server-side lag. Notable reliable examples include BAF escapees, canyon in ITF and mothership raids. This is particularly bad with people who have critical powers on medium to long recharge times. The UI says a power is ready to use far before the the server will allow it to be used. Sometimes powers take 2-15 extra seconds to activate after being pressed before they take effect making for very slow and annoying game play. 2. Need up to 3 powers to be auto-fire instead of the current 1. Consider making it so that at most only 1 damaging power can be set on auto to help minimize botting. 3. Minimize/eliminate loading times. I have a machine with 8 GB of memory, feel free to precache every adjacent zone and every mission that I have. 4. Reduce annoyance of cutscenes. After watching the same cutscene 50 or so times, they get really old. Also, being able to chat with friends or do any non-combat functions would be very nice. I'd suggest an option that lets the cutscene to be played in a tiny window while allowing complete use of the regular UI except for not being able to use any power or move. Even better would be to have TFs and Trials have an option for whether to play cutscenes that the leader can select when starting. 5. Eliminate need to be in the same zone to start a trial. Forming trial groups often takes much longer than actually running the trial and this is one of the major culprits. Being in a full zone while trying to get other members in is extremely painful. |
Okay I will definately add my voice to #1.. This is something that has driven me a little batty for years. Fix the problems you KNOW exist before you add new stuff and create new problems!
Definately agree with #3 and I know from discussion on other threads that there are those that would disagree with this suggestion. But as mentioned these things may be cute once (and I do stress MAY BE) but when you see them again and again and again they get really annoying really fast. The first few characters I ran through BAFs to open Judgement and Lore were averaging about 10% of the IXP needed per run .. that meant around 20 trials to open both powers on each character.. OR around 60 before all three had them open. That means I have now seen Mother Mayhem, Siege, and Nightstar discuss strategy between 80 and 85 time since I have 4 with all of the new powers opened and am working the fifth. If we could vote to not see it prior to entrance it would be great.
Your number 5 sounds good but I am not so sure its an absolute. So you start the TF with 2 players still not in zone and then what? Start without them and firce them to miss some XP, INF, potential salvage/recipes and depending.. shards?
Now one I'd add ..
Allow Vigilantes access to Villain bases while teaming RED Side and Rogues access to Hero bases when teaming BLUE Side. And while in there they CAN use the bases teleporters to get to other zones. This will streamline a number of TFs and make life easier for many players. I KNOW I KNOW technically a Vigilante is still a hero and a Rogue is still a villian BUT when they are on a team, TF or whatever, they are helping out either Heroes or Villains (again depending on side). Seems to me if your on a TEAM you assist one another and telling a Rogue he has to make his or her own way back from PI to Founders Falls for the final mission of Dac Kahn seems rude. No matter what that Rogue may have done in the past she is helping you defeat Reichmann at the moment so wouldn't it be a good idea to get her to the mission as fast as possible.. In my case especially since she's the only one with Inv and Recall friend that can get the team to Reichmann Fast!
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
During respecs please for the love of god do NOT dump all the temp powers into the trays. the sorting is really annoying. Primaries Secondaries Pools PPP/APP Incarnate Accolades and veteran powers only. If we want one of the zillions of temps we all have let us put it in the tray.

Let me set up a direct debit for base rent. Or at least let me pay remotely via the Supergroup window.
Also I'm getting awfully long delays when selecting a server or going back to the server list - anywhere from 20sec to a minute+. So if the devs could sort that out that'd be super.
I'd like some way (other than writing it on a piece of paper) to know what my character has in the Salvage Vault while I am standing in WWs. Its time for heroes to upgrade from just a cell phone to call their contacts to a smartphone.
Other smartphone functions that might be useful:
- Show me a list of the recipes and salvage I have stored in WWs
- Help me find the people who start TFs in a zone
I'm not asking to manipulate what I have, that is to say I don't expect to be able to move the salvage or recipes, I just want to know what I have so I don't buy something I already have stored, or I can discard/sell stuff I don't need without running around so much.
Ideally, the tank will die precisely as everyone else starts fighting, allowing aggro to be spread evenly among the blaster. -seebs, "How to Suck at CoH/CoV" Guide
Practiced Brawler is easily made permable to the point you can click it and have a 30 second window to click it again before the buff wears off.
No need to autofire it. Dull Pain, even when I have it perma, Id save it for when I need the heal, not "Oh look, I'm still at full health, let me fire it again just to keep my HP capped". Now, I could see a reason to keep Hasten on Autofire. |
I use Dull Pain the same way. I'm ambivalent as to whether it should be changed to a toggle, which is why IIRC I didn't list it with the others.
Sure, it's easy to keep Practiced Brawler running even without using autoclick. I'm not threatening to quit over how hard it is or anything. It's just that I think it would be more elegant, and improve the gameplay a little, if there wasn't this basically pointless difference between it and other mez protection.

First off, there are 4 mez protection powers that are clickies, /SR, /NIN, /SHI, and /PSI EPIC.
5th if you count Domination Inherent.
Now, of those, /SR, /NIN, /SHI can all double stack their protection! Can't do that with a toggle.

1. Fix the power customization screen so it shows what our toggles and pets look like. For toggles, just leave activate the power ONCE and let it run until reset by changing its colour or selecting a different power. For pets, show the pet summoning animation, then have the pet cycle through all the animations it has at the time of summoning it. If you're customizing Trip Mine, show it being set down, then show it exploding. If you're customizing Jack Frost, show him being summoned then show him activating his ice powers in order. We need to see what we're actually changing.
2. Eliminate weapon redraw. BABs was already working on this before he left, so presumably it's something that's desirable. Go ahead and just do it. But eliminate it only in the functional sense. When attempting to use a power which can activate immediately, allow it to activate immediately with the weapon just appearing in the character's hands en route. When attempting to use a power which cannot fire at the moment because it's out of range, out of line of sight, you're out of endurance or attempting to use the power on an inapplicable target or if you have nothing selected, play the draw anmation.
And please fix the bug where if you activate Build Up while in a non-combat stance, it locks you outside of entering combat stance until you draw a weapon or hit Esc about five times.
3. Allow click status protection powers to be activated while held, slept, stunned or terrorised. In essence, allow these powers to work like a Break Free inspiration. There's nothing dumber than getting held just as your Practiced Brawler is going down because you neglected to "press X to not die," but allowing players to activate the power when held, waking them up from the hold would fix that problem and give click status protection powers a distinct advantage to offset the easy convenience of toggle status protection powers.
4. Never put contact introductions in the lists of contacts more than 4 levels lower than I am. It's hideously annoying to level up in a mission in Brickstown, only for Dr. Whatshisname in Atlas Park to show up in my active contacts offering to give me more contacts. If new contacts need to be introduced to me, use the contacts I had in the previous level range. If I have no new contacts in the previous level range, I can always run newspaper missions and get new contacts that way. And while we're at it, please mark contacts who won't offer me missions and will only offer contact introductions in my Contacts window. Highlight them in green, for instance, so I know they'll only give me a referral and not missions. Let me know why I'm making the trip.
5. Remove missions that waste my time from the game. This includes contact introduction missions, Security Chief missions, PvP Liaison missions, difficulty contact missions and so forth. Remove Security Chief and PvP Liaison missions from the regular contacts and instead place them in the roster of the City Representative and Kalinda/Burke. Remove contact introduction missions entirely and make Wincott, Temblor, Peebles and Bower into regular contact introductions via the "Be introduced to a new contact" option or otherwise have them "call" the player via the Montague/Mercedes pop-up window. These aren't needed, as none of these zones are new, nor have they been new for the past six years.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Make that x200.
Also, adjust the Mission Transporter power so that if you haven't set a mission, you're prompted for which mission you want to go to instead of just transporting you to the first one on your list.
(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon
I'm a list-maker so this will be tough to keep to 5.
1) Remember ALL of my preferences for things. The Memorized Recipe window as closed, the location of Powers in trays during Respecs. My 5 most-used pieces of Salvage. Oh and by the way the 'Classic' Team window is not classic it's Coke Classic with the formula changed! I HATE lime green in my team window. I want the old one back. Once I set up a character I want it to stay that way until I change it for some reason.
2) Bases and SGs. I've heard that the Devs feel that Bases are underused. No offense guys but you're not making it any easier. For example: Redside/Blueside teaming won't allow access to bases. You GAVE us Going Rogue and then seperated the teams...not good. No SGs or Bases for the first 20 levels in Praetoria. WTF? So now you WANT us to speed through 20 levels of really good storyline so those of us who like SGs and Bases get to use them? I understand no self-inviting or promotion but not being able to invite friend's offline alts just makes this harder to juggle logistically. I won't mention the bugs...
3) I agree with the 'Status clickies as BF' thing. I've always felt that sets with click Status Protection got the raw deal. In the middle of a fight you simply don't have time to check to see if you're covered or not. I'd also be thrilled if you could choose 'No Animation' for it in PvE play since they force weapon redraw.
4) Lag during the big events. Again, you guys GAVE us post-50 content like we asked for but it doesn't work well when you have 24 players firing off a flurry of FX. The Valley of Lag in the ITF has never worked well (I remember, I was in the Beta for that one). Rikti Invasion is just sad. I fire a power and then go get a drink.
5) Expand the LFG to include regular teaming. Players looking to form a team can flag themselves as such and then put in a level range or a specific even like the ITF. Players looking for a team or an event flag themselves as such and then go about their buisness. If something opens up and the prospective teammate is in a mission they get a window asking them if they want to leave and join the event. We should be WAY past broadcasting for a team or members in this game. We have 400 emotes and yet our Team Search sux.
6) Overtime: Now that we have these huge events make a special instance of RWZ and Pocket D to form them in. Seriously, we have to scramble to form up because half the League arrives and the other half can't get in because the zone is full? Alternately let us just enter the Trial from different zones as another poster mentioned above. Then we don't all have to be in the same place at the same time.
"Comics, you're not a Mastermind...you're an Overlord!"
Here's some more on my list. Some of these I've been harping on for a while:
1. Another vote to collapse memorized recipes.
2. Please arrange the salvage tray in a way that is non-stupid. Or allow us to. I don't care about base salvage. Bury it at the end. Invention, Incarnate, and Special. Everything else is clutter.
3. English, mother%*#er. Do you speak it?!
Seriously, fire that chimp that hammers out the various snips of copy and text, and ORGANIZE it into something cohesive. Listing a power as granting a "5% STRENGTH to ranged" is ridiculous. "5% DEFENSE to ranged" There, that so hard? Find & Replace.
One power does "Superior" damage, and other does "Extreme" damage. Which is more? Granted, a lot of this subjective crap is leftover from the days when Statesman didn't want us peeking behind the veil.
4. Cut scenes. Stop making cut scenes. You're. Not. Good. At. Them. Either become good, by editing down your overwritten dialogue and adding some actual action, or just abandon them entirely. If it wasn't for the blessed combination of Alt and Tab, I probably would have given up on this game over the terrible BAF cut scene alone.
We get it. Doctor Aeon is a zany screw-up. The Snakessss will rissse. Mother Mayhem got a boob job.
5. End the sexism in the costume creator. I want to make a chick with a cigar and a dude in a schoolgirl tartan (Sailor Beefcake.)
6. A GUI for keybinds. I'm going to keep harping on that one till i get it!
7. If you're going to force me to target through all the damn civilians running around in mayhem missions, at least let me cleave one in half!
Stay Gold, Paragon. Stay Gold.
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind
OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!
2. Have up to 3 powers be auto-fire instead of the current 1. |
5. Eliminate need to be in the same zone to start a trial. |
Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

Add to that fixing targeting so that anything that is behind you and "invisible" because it's outside the cutoff of your view frustrum is also untargetable. I'm getting very, very tired of running up to a door, sliding the mouse up to click on the door, and have the pointer turn red because I'm now targeting my pet, who is nowhere visible on the screen, but because it's right up behind me it's intercepting my mouse clicks, so I have to play 'how do I twist my mouse view to not target my pet?' games to be able to enter a mission.
"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."

1. Reorganize and redesign the interfaces for Badges, Clues, Enhancement Vendors, and the Costume Creator. These interfaces still use simple scrolling lists, and each list is populated by anywhere from dozens to hundreds of items. The sheer amount of scrolling required to find anything in these lists makes them a PITA to use.
2. Tone down or do away with any sound effects which use high-pitched screams, squeals, or rings, especially in the foreground. Many of us play wearing headphones and earbuds, and some of the people playing are sensitive to high-pitched noise (myself among them). Peacebringers and Gravity toons both regularly emit sounds that ride just shy of the threshold for inducing physical pain.
I can't think of another three.

As for suggestions...
Create a new base item, or maybe re-puropse an existing item to be a base salvage computer. Have it work like a mini WW. Link it to all the salvage racks, enhancement tables and maybe even insp bins. Also, change all the bins to allow exemptions if sg's want people to have personal bins. Its annoying to come back from a break and forget half the crap stored in your base.
Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.
SERIOUSLY! We have similar prompts for like 10 other options and the rest of them work perfectly. You can turn the damn things off and they STAY OFF. For these two to still be malfunctioning makes the programmers and managers look . . . let's be polite: less than competent.
