Pugs are not cute. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Ugly little bug-eyed things.

    The naked cats are cuter.

  3. is there an /em throw stick emote to go with that dog?
  4. I don't think they should be inherent. We should be able to choose a travel power from level 2 though.
  5. I had thought so, but with Star Wars coming out next month, I don't know anymore. My friends have pretty much moved on from this game.

I may be downgrading to Premium at some point.
  6. I don't understand why F2P people can't have access to post in the forums. That doesn't make sense.

The fact that they shifted from the shard incarnate salvage to threads proves that the devs hate hoarding. I'm positive that come the new incarnate slots they will introduce yet another incarnate salvage system.

I mostly love this game. I've tried to play it a few times across the years, I love some of the concepts, I really like how the direction Paragon is taking the game.

But, for whatever reason, I can't stand to play any MMO where I can't respec any time I want. The first time I want to respec and find I can't - or I get stuck when leveling because I can't decide how to spec, given that changing my decision in the future will be either hard or impossible - I simply leave the game.

It's what happened 3 times already with CoH; I try to play, make a new character (as I can't bring myself to play my old characters), but in a few days I end leaving in frustration because I either can't decide how to distribute my slots and powers, or else I find I really want to change my spec. This last try, I ever tried adding 4 months of game time at a time, to see if the larger money investment could make me stick. It just meant I wasted money, since I played for a week or two and abandoned the game just after.

None of the ways to obtain respecs are actually enough for me. The respec recipes are simply too expensive, the free respecs too few and far between, and respecs are one thing I would rather leave the game than purchase in the cash shop (since I consider them about as essential for my enjoyment of the game as, for example, being able to resurrect my character).

BTW: I'm not actually asking for the game to change regarding respecs; I just wanted to explain the reason I could never stay in the game. While I would be thrilled if they were reworked into something I could live with, after this last try, I'm moving on.
I hate to say this, but this is a big fail on your part. I'm guessing that you don't like to play any games then, as I'm sure most if not all do not let you respec any time you want. At least MMOs.

I always plan out my toons from level 1 to 50 ahead of time so I know what power to pick and how to slot each power.

To quit over something you can so easily fix yourself is silly and pointless in my opinion.

I'll save my rage for bad grammar.

"It's come to pass," not "come to past."

    HOW COULD YOU!!!! (RAGE!!!!!)

Other than that I agree that there was a need for folks to catch up reward wise.

I would sit there for two minutes making sure my keybinds were correct how I want them. I also do this with any new game I play. It's quite time consuming. It doesn't help that you feel really rushed during the new tutorial.
  11. I have to agree with NewScrapper and Sam that the new tutorial really doesn't teach you much about how to play the game.

And you do have to sit there for a good while making sure your keybinds are correct and all the other things you have to fiddle with. Not just veterans, but new players will want to make sure everything is set. It's the first thing I do when starting a new game.

The old tutorial taught you about conning, enhancements, inspirations, how contacts work. The new tutorial skips all this.

The continuing training missions are less effective in my opinion because it requires you to play the game for quite a few levels before they tell you stuff you need to know from the get go. How to use a Trainer to level your character you learn at what? level 8 or so? Way too late.

I feel there are game mechanics you need to know before you set foot in Atlas Park and the new tutorial isn't teaching new players that. The old tutorial, tedious as it was, did teach you the things you needed to know before you were set loose on the game.

I don't like how rushed you feel during the new tutorial. It was Champions all over again, whose tutorial also took place during an alien invasion. The game even looked quite a bit like Champions, but at least in that game you learned basic game mechanics during the tutorial.

While I applaud the effort to update the tutorial, I feel the devs missed opportunities to actually teach new players the ground rules during the tutorial.

Actually on beta I had problems getting enough cash to get my DO's. It took several levels to get most of the slots with DO's.

    So yeah, it can happen.

Granted when you get to the higher levels and start making the serious influence things are ok. But low level? It's tough.

Edit: On second thought in the regular game I could actually use the market effectively to make enough money to get what I need. But without it, even selling salvage and inventions doesn't cut it.

    Freedom? Hardly

And you know, LOTRO is doing quite fine with their own version of this kind of free to play model.

I'm not seeing the problem that the OP mentions. Just getting access to the incarnate stuff would make me want to plunk down $15/month for a subscription. And the added benefits of Premium come at a small cost.

You can't give away everything and still expect to make money, and as a business the devs do need to make money doing this, or soon there will be no game to complain about.

If you go into any free-to-play game and expect to have access to everything for free then you are being extremely naive. Want full access? Well then, subscribe to the game for $15/month.
  14. Loved the last two the best.

    And Foreshadow.

    Edit: First after Steelclaw.

    Defunct Origins?

Technically the only other origin beyond the 5 already in the game is Divine.
  16. I never liked Galaxy City and won't miss it at all. I only went there to get the exploration badges for the Atlas Medallion accolade and for Numina's kill 10 Hellions thing in her TF.
  17. Obviously my first priority would be to give the characters fingers!
  18. A DM/Regen was my second 50, although it was the first toon I made. An Emp/Dark defender was the first 50.

    I always liked it.
  19. Here I thought the Kheldian surprise was that they were dumping the Kheldians and introducing a good Hero Epic AT...
  20. I thought the commonly accepted ploy was to put the Numina Unique in Fast Healing or Health which is automatic so that you never lose the benefit.
  21. I used to go with Seers because the Seekers spam Fortitude on you.

I like Carnies better because at T4, you get a Dark Ring Mistress which is better than the T4 equivalent of Seers and the Senechal has a nice buff to dam and to hit.

I never really cared for the others really, although I hear the Cimerorans do quite a bit of damage.

Is this me discriminating against said players, no, but trust is a two way street. I rely heavily on PuGs to level and I do not want to be (as my previous example showcased) inundated with invites by "Snoxbry123" over and over along with his or her fellow RMTers waiting for me to deny one so the other can invite.

This advents were put into place to give us peace from the RMTers and I do not want to give them Freedom to begin all over again. Yes, I can report them, and report them, and report them... See where I'm going. I don't want to spend half my time reporting RMTers. I'm all for giving Free players a measure, but give the VIP and Premium members a way to lock it off if it gets horrid.

And before some other things are brought up for Free Players. No, they should not be able to send me mail unless they are on my friends or SG lists. No, they should not be able to send me tells. I'm sorry, I log in to play not avoid the telemarketers (RMTers) like I do in my day to day routine. Am I being hypercritical and blanketing blame before it happens, yes. Why? Because I have left other games because of lack of contol over RMTers. Here, I finally have control and I will not surrender it.
I'm not understanding this attitude that all free to play players are RMTers or gold farmers, or ne'er-do-wells whose only goal is to make VIP players (the one, true kind of players!) life a living hell.

F2P players already can't start teams have limited chat options. I can't remember if they have limited mail or tell options, but I think they do? What is the purpose for this rant? Granted you've had bad experiences, that I have never had myself, but Free to Play players are already seriously limited.

I agree with Sam that if you treat the free to play and premium players like crap, they will go away and spread tales of woe. If the game is kind, then they will invest in the game. I have a friend who will look into the game when it goes free to play. I don't want him treated like crap just because he's free to play.
  23. Yes, but even if a bad guy is totally drained of endurance, they can still attack you, where if you are out of endurance, you can't. It's like they really aren't dependent on endurance.

Now, unless the endurance drain gives you back some endurance, it's not really worth banking on that end drain having any meaningful effect on the enemies. Outside of PVP, of course.

I'm happy with the AoE niceness of Pyronic.
