Discussion: Issue 19: Strike Pack is live!
Eh, there are still a number of badges I would consider harder and/or more tedious to do. I probably already normally run enough TF/SFs to manage a total of 50 runs in a few months regardless. If this means there's a new badge out there that'll take me that long to get so be it.
Loth 50 Fire/Rad Controller [1392 Badges] [300 non-AE Souvenirs]
Ryver 50 Ele Blaster [1392 Badges]
Silandra 50 Peacebringer [1138 Badges] [No Redside Badges]

So the WTF is going to continue after i20? To get Notice of the Wells?

50 WSTs for the badge. Will WSTs continue after Issue 20 drops? Do you only get badge credit while the TF is under the WST Flag? If WSTs stop with the drop of Issue 20, does that mean people who couldn't spend 100+ hours grinding all get screwed?
|
If you did the same TF 4 times a week when it's the Target, you shouldn't have a problem getting the 50 badge before I20 drops, though I would imagine they won't be turning off the feature, since it represents an alternate way of earning required components. I don't think I20 is as close as you think it is.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
The issue 19 page shows that the ITF is next week's WST... can we continue this trend of giving us future notice of what "next weeks WST" will be? Big help for coordinating SG/VG teams or other such things.

BTW - SCORE on ITF being next week. I'll get my rare sooner than I thought. Nice!

It's also an unrealistic target for anyone that wants to get the badge on a character once Issue 20 goes live and people abandon the WST en masse for the new Incarnate Trails. Please either reconsider that total now, or lower it after Issue 20.

Not just having something handed to you?

Hmm, maybe I'm not loooking in the right spot, but is there a page that lists the Rare and Very Rare abilities?
I'll just chime in here, and mention that I've put together a Google spreadsheet with the updated incarnate information, so you can plan what you need to do for rares and very rares. The way it's set up in-game makes it hard to get an overview of the whole process, at least for me.

Can't wait for Judgment, etc.!
I'm pleased with what I see. I've got characters who will benefit from the Strike Target who aren't doing the Incarnate stuff (merits! yay!). And honestly? I'm fine with the badges since it's another carrot to encourage people to participate in the WST. I likely won't get the 10-time badge anytime soon, myself, so someone has to pick up the slack
Arg... pity my internet is down at home!
edit: I was hoping a new booster pack would be made available today... darn

And they said they were done with grindy badges... Obviously, grindy is in the eye of the beholder. |
I do believe they removed any illusion of making the game less grindy when they introduced Alignment Merits and gave us the ability to buy purples with them. Even if you use regular reward merits and inf to by a hero merit each day you still need to grind the same 10 tip missions every two days for 10 to 12 days to get the required 30 to 35 to buy that purple, not to mention the grinding of other content that gives the 50 merits per day you need to make the trades. Just think, if you don't play the market that is a mere 60 to 72 days (about 10 weeks) of playing every day and grinding the same 10 missions to get that purple set that really, really you want.
Honestly, it does not make any sense from a marketing standpoint to make anything other than a grindy game. You see, if they make it so that you have to keep playing to get the things you want then you have to keep paying them to play. Because, you know.... None of us would ever keep playing the game because we enjoy doing so... that after all is an unfathomable concept.
You people and you me, me, me. You're looking at this from the wrong side of he fence.
The way I see, I interpret it a few ways.
1-To push the badgers that also TF (the 2 player types arent mutually exclusive) to have an incentive to redo a TF rather than a do once and forget, then go back to the usual TF type deal. 2-On the week that a popular TF comes up, say ITF, that week will be packed and people will skip the Quartermain weeks. 3-I put it on the same level as the Damage Taken badges. Even an OCD like player like myself puts some badges in the Ill get them when I get them category. Now, Damage Taken requirements were reduced, so this might be too. But, for now, I see it as a background progress thing. Not a gotta get it THIS week" thing. But thats just me. I cant see regular TF being done with, even with Incarnate Trials coming up. Blasting through a LRSF at +10 level shift will be cool, assuming they all give +1 shift, though they carefully put in Rare and Very Rare Incarnate abilities can SOMETIMES grant Incarnate characters a Level Shift. (caps by me) so they are giving themselves wiggle room in case the Level Shift turns out to be a Bad Idea (TM). Of course, I could be wrong, but I see Speed MoLRSF coming in the not so far future. |
Usual practice instead of fixing what was wrong they have decided to obsolete it, while hoping the problems won't carry over.
Originally when it was announced that the Common and Uncommon incarnate components could be acquired via two different methods (i.e. running specific TF/SFs or collecting more individual incarnate shards), I was happy to see that this new end game system would be open to all players, not just to those who have the time to run numerous TF/SFs. With the Rare and Very Rare tiers opening up today, it would appear that that initial egalitarian approach to Common/Uncommon components has been abandoned in favor of grinding and endless TF/SFs for the Rare/Very Rare components.
For those of us who do not have the time to commit to multiple hours as required of TF/SFs, those of us who play during off-peak hours (as I usually do), and those of us who just have bad timing when it comes to getting on TF/SF teams, I'm asking for the devs to give us an alternate method--perhaps similar to the common/uncommon component acquisition--to experience the upper tiers of the incarnate system.
It's extremely disheartening to find out that after all the years of effort and energy I put into this game and my characters, I'm basically excluded from portions of the end-game system because I'm not uber or 1337 enough.
Well, I'm definitely addicted to this game right now!

Credit for successfully completing the Weekly Strike Target even after a character has already received the bonus for the week is cumulative over time, and the credit can be accrued over many weeks or months. |
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
I'm sure it's been mentioned before in this thread (haven't read it yet) but...
Is there any way for you guys/gals to say which TF/SF is the "Weekly Strike Target" IN the game itself?
Again, don't know if it's been done already but....doesn't make sense why there isn't the GMOTD saying, "this weeks Strike Target is the STF or LRSF!"
