Even for those of us who can and do run TFs frequently, an alternate path would be nice because it would give us more choices in how to work on our Alpha boosts. Right now, I have a choice between re-running the same TF on every character I want a Rare boost on, or doing other things and not getting any closer to the third and fourth tiers. Boredom or no rewards: not a fun choice to make.

This is shockingly bad news in fact. Having to verify files every time you hard crash is going to lead to a lot more people missing the end of TFs and the rewards. At present being able to skip the updater means I can get back pretty quickly without verifying.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

But I need my "-project coh -maxinactivefps 5 -renderthread 1"!!!

Seriously. I need it.
Don't take it away or legs will get broken.

O.O

(Although... is -renderthread still needed? I put it in ages ago.)

Exactly. To make progress toward the rare and very rare tiers of the Alpha Slot you need to successfully run a named TF/SF once a week. If you miss a week, no big deal, just go for it again the following week.

Really, this is *not* that onerous a requirement to become a best-of-the-best incarnate!

I still think this is a "for now" type thing. I think they're giving people a preview for things. Anyone stop and think that when Issue 20 comes out, they will give everyone other ways to make the rare boosts.

Umm, the last time I did an STF or any level 50 TF (I am assuming that this will always be a level 50 tf or sf) it took far more than 60-90 minutes. Some of them can take 4 hours or more.

Unless you're talking a speed tf and I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a stick.

Been on on a low population server for a couple hours now... on a Stalker... trying to get on a team... to do something that can be a bear for a PUG...to get a level shift.

If that's "win" yeah I'm in it. I prefer to call it something else.

It sounds like you have correctly diagnosed all of your problems with completing this task.

This week it's the Statesman. I have never been on a Statesman Task Force that took less than three hours and I have never been on a successful one, despite having run it about five times.

PUGs are bad for running the STF. you'll need to find a proper group.

That said, It's unfortunate you have had such bad luck with the task force, however, The incarnate content is meant to challenge players.

Really though, STF with a good team is a pretty short task force. Apex and Tin Mage take under an hour. A hour is a short amount of time to devote, and the game has channels and a brilliant player search function to find a team.

I have done the STF successfully on a PUG. Practically the only thing I have time for is a PUG because I don't have the time to have a plethora of friends in the game that I can call on.

Running out of ideas? Turning this game into a more grouping-oriented experience when for years it was so solo friendly (which is why so many people I know originally game to it, over other mmos) will be it's downfall. It's quite sad and the game is even more empty than ever. First the incarnate thing and than this and the last few very weak booster packs has shaved years off this games life. This used to be my absolute favorite mmo but it's no longer innovative or even fun. It's depressing how many bad choices have been made and how the very life of the game has dimished. I really looked forward to it. Hopefully change occurs again. So sick of the term "pugs" when there's people who play at some hours that will always just get that if they are even lucky to see another player online (even on the most populated servers.) A lot of us just don't have tons of friends in this game (or games in general) and have a busy life and job and realistically can't develop those friendships needed for some content. I wonder when developers will get this, or even care.

If you're basing your notion of "there's never anyone around" on actually seeing a player character go by or standing in Wentworths, you're not getting the whole picture, since this game is so heavily instanced. Get on server chat channels. Every server should have one dedicated to finding TF teams, and there's always..ALWAYS at least enough for one team, if not several, if you just ask, or even better yet, start one yourself. Yes, there are people that no longer play, but there's still new people starting up every day to take their place. The server I play on the most seems to be holding steady in number, if anything, and that's about as much as you can ask for an almost 7 year old game.

Making sure you have friends is not the Devs' concern. If you can't find teams, you're either playing at the wrong time or not looking hard enough, and sorry for being blunt, but that's really the way it is for everyone. You are in control of both of those things.

Also, making things "Team Friendly" does in no way mean they're going away from being "solo friendly." All that content you enjoyed is still there.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I just want to confirm this.

Only 1 notice will be issued per week despite having 2 targets, right?

If this is true, I just have to come on for 4 hours a week for each of my two alpha slotted characters. We'll still get shard drops too, right? They don't go away with the notices, right?

Also, the week runs from Tuesday to Tuesday, right?

From what I understand, yes you can only get 1 Notice of the Well once a week...no matter if you do both the STF and LRSF (in this week's case).

Also it seems that the week goes from Tuesday to the following Monday...since the next Tuesday starts a new weekly strike target.

Edit:

Meaning it will take at least 4 weeks to get a very rare alpha slot. 2 for the 2 rare slots you need and then you'll need 2 Notice of the Wells to make a Favor of the Well to make the Very Rare ability.

I am a plant/rad. I've done Tin Mage and Apex, I have several Mo badges. I regularly team with Dechs. I was just pointing out that I have had extremely bad luck with the Statesman in the past and that it causes a knee-jerk psychosomatic "do not want" reaction in me. That's all.

I devoted about two hours today, because that's all it should take. I know. Today it ended up taking five and a half hours and then busting. Sometimes it's not about the time people are willing to put up but more to the point that the teams they can find are garbage.

Well Im a 45 vet player and never did the Statesman TF.
So tonight, I was asking in a Union TF channel (sals badgehunters) if anyone would run one, and then I went to Statesman with my main.
I decided to run one for myself, picking people who were up for it, random till I had 6 then see what else would need then we started.
Was very smoth, lots of fun, didnt took more than 1 and half hour. My team was really awesome, we only had 2 deaths on the run.
Everything awesome.
Then when we finished we lost mapserver.
When everyone was back, we didnt had any reward. No Notice, no Incarnate component, no merits. Crap... A damn bug.
I reported, also my teammets.
Hope we can get a fix soon and have our rewards back.

I ran a LRSF this afternoon with all 50s that completed in ~90 minutes. Gotta stop beating Val down twice and get a stealther that can TP past some of the groups. Not a speed run, but we recognized where it was important and where it wasn't important to beat the baddies down.

And that's how it should go, I've just never been on a team doing the STF that's recognized that or bothered to coordinate anything. People pointing out that they've done it themselves doesn't do anything except make me feel even worse because there's apparently a magical team formula for the STF that I've never encountered.

Correct on 1 and 2; don't know about 3. I got ~7 shards on the LRSF and the special shiny at the end. Couple of times I got shards from 2 enemies back to back.

Blah to enforced teaming no matter what double merit rewards they use as a carrot.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Sorry, this was LRSF, not STF. And we were 100% PuG, no picking and choosing of ATs and builds.

Hube and TheSummerEvening.

I apologize that my post was not all that tactful, and came across blunt and offensive, but my point is that you need to work for rewards. Sometimes you luck out, othertimes not.

I play on Vic server, and it is one of the smaller servers. That said, I am subscribed to 3 different global chat handles. Victory Badges, Victory Forum, and another SG based one. I usually log in after work, and within half an hour, there is always some sort of TF/SF being advertised on one of the groups. Since I use this approach, I have reduced the number of PUGs i join. (i mostly use them for raising other characters, but when it comes to a STF etc, I usually prefer to team with the people in the channels).

That said, I have been on some great PUG's, but that seems to be the exception to the rule.

When the MoSTF badge came out, I got it first try on test server with a PUG. After that, It took about 25 runs, and several months on Live before I got the badge. Sometimes you get lucky, othertimes you get a blaster who gets killed by Ghost Widow everytime.

Parts of the game are difficult, and the whole idea of this endgame content is to create a new challenge for players. Some of the best content in the game is within the task forces. I just find it ironic that the same people complaining about not having access to the incarnate content, are the same people who do not wish to play through the TF/SF content.

As for Hube and TheSummerEvening, again i apologize for any offense you may have taken from my post, however my comments were not so much aimed at you, as the dozen or so other players I saw in the other thread that WST was introduced in complaining.

How long will these strike targets go on for? If I see a badge for 50 runs, I wondering if this will go till the end of the year(50 weeks). This will truly be a controlled run...and we still don't get to 51?

4 hours times 50 runs = 200 hours
