it's not so bad on Red but I'll adjust it.
-
This how I see things going for the pacts.
-You, get your character to level 5
-Me, I'll take mine into the AE and get them to 30. I have 2 toons who have 2,000,000,000 Inf/Infamy each so I can pay for the farms easily.
-We/go back and forth till about 37-40.
-Double XP weekend comes and we both come online to finish our characters or get our out of the 37-45 range. It's down hill after a certain level but I can't remember when. -
This is good advice. When I signed the agreements, I specifically mentioned that this was not an overnight thing...meaning that over a year the leveling would occur. Also, I specified that each character be played 3 hours a month. I wouldn't requested this if I couldn't do it. Also, I'm on Freedom...the fastest leveling server in the CoH Universe.
The hardest part of this game is the 37-45 range. Any help in this area benefits us both. Finally, if a person doesn't pull his weight I just stop playing the character till he/she meets his commitments.
I do get all the XP for my extra work and they will get none if I should do most of the work. NOT A BIG DEAL TO ME.
My plan is to get as close to 37-45 before the next double XP weekend then have us both come online to push us to the finish!!
Presto 4/5 new 50s! -
I feel your anger. For what it's worth, I'm in the US and I'm complaining too. I complained last friday about the patch on a friday night here:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=258302
The patch last weekend was very good and it makes the game better. I had no crashes and I was able to leave my computer on the whole weekend. I work in an IT company and our policy is to apply patches during the designated maintenance window or wait till the next one. I'm assuming Paragon/Ncsoft felt these patches were important enough that they couldn't wait. I was unhappy with having to patch on a friday but again this patch was pretty good. -
Quote:It's no fun having to wait for updates when you want to go online is it?I finally got I20 downloaded (dial-up, don't want to hear it), the other two patches applied and I came home to a 150+MB patch. I hate hot fixes because it seams that they don't/can't/won't do a differential and make a true patch but instead bulk replace entire files.
Yes I know I'm way, way, way in the minority here. Just blowing off some steam. Hoping to be patched up before the anniversary, if they let me. -
Here's the map of the Weapons cache and containment chambers. When I took this shoot I had 10/10 weapons destroyed and 7/10 containment chambers. I had a 10/10 and & 10/10 but I hit the wrong key and didn't record it. Sorry :-)

Quote:'Let me take a guess at what happened:
Since you were obviously on the team, you could not have had more than 7 melee toons on the team. You probably had less than that. Let's say you have 4 melees, 3 ranged, and you on the team (guessing).
The Nictus have a reverse-AoE heal, so if it used it on the melee group, it would have healed itself by 4 times its heal amount. The ranged toons were probably spread out, so if it healed off any of them, it would only heal by as little as one times its heal amount, and as much as 3 times its heal amount.
On the other hand, if it attacked you and your pets (who were attacking the Nictus directly, so getting more aggro from it), it would heal by up to 7 times its heal amount (your 6 pets and yourself), amounting to the same amount of healing as if the entire time (without you) stood in one place together and fought the Nictus (note that that would be a very bad team).
If we pretend that the Nictus healing amount is 1000 HP, then you and your pets allow the Nictus to heal itself (and the other AVs around it) for 7000 every few seconds (as opposed to only 4000 or 1000 in the examples above, both of which can easily be overcome by a full team).
I suggest doing as I do on the last mission of the ITF: desummon all your pets except for one (for Mercs I'd suggest Commando, though I use one Jounin as a ninja MM) and focus more on using your secondary.
How many of the TF/SFs have reverse AoE? I'm just curious. -
How can you say it doesn't cost anything look at these pictures:

http://jumbofiles.com/1f2neig4eghu/V...costs.png.html
Are these typos? Zoom to 200% or 400% if your using IE.
EDIT: I see...it's under EMPYREAN Merits -
Let me give you a little more details. During the fighting, I took a break and wandered around to see if we missed something. While I was gone they have gotten Nictus down to 25%. We also had problems with Nictus clouds/entities. I put my MM pets on Nictus to help shut him down and I pushed him back up to 75% and I was using ranged attacks. My pets were on the stairs shooting up to Nictus where he had been transformed by the Well.

Quote:Thanks USCI,Well, one or two of the players got a chuckle tonight. They thought they would be cute so they decided to use the pacification and acid grenade. As a result, it screwed me and a lot of others on the team out of four badges. We were just rocking away and someone thought that they would screw us. Don't worry...I know most of the people on the team and I know that they didn't screw us over. The ones that I don't know...well, time will tell.
I've never understood the humor behind intentionally screwing someone over like that. It's the same kind of humor that takes joy in hurting others. Perhaps one day your mother will be walking down the sidewalk in the rain and I might think that it would be just absolutely hilarious to drive through that huge muddy puddle she just happens to be standing next to.
But, you know what? We're going to run it again without you and this time we'll get the badges...just like your mother can take a shower and dry off. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference as there is no way you can stop us next time.
Residentx_EU, I would like to urge you to run it again the same time next week. Only this time, everyone on the team has to be vouched for by a trusted member of the team. Additionally, have everyone pass their grenades to the team leader. Those that don't will earn a permanent place on my global ignore list.
To everyone who tried for the badges, thank you.
I wish things would have worked out better today. I had this problem on the MoBAF yesterday too. Some people want on to a "team" not the badge. They will say anything. I'll do this again next month. We have a full team on Friday and I thought we had a solid team then 4-6 players (2 said Turg wasn't showing and they were taking his spot) didn't show and this caused problems because I had to use PUGs.
When I do this again, I hope to put a plan together and publish it for feedback before the event. I asked TKKID/Dr. Leo to step in because I was tired from traveling/jetlag. Also, I have a friend come online earlier today who hasn't been in the game for 8 months and I used up my planning time making him feel missed from the game. -
This patch was very good. I experienced no crashes at all this weekend and I was able to leave my computer on the whole time with no memory leaks.

Today, I regretting being a Merc. I was on a ITF today and embarrassed myself. It started off good I was holding my own as a 40 merc on an Alpha 50+ team. Then we got to Nictus and we couldn't kill him. I was told after almost two hours of fighting that my pets were extending Nictus. WTF. I quit and less than 3 minutes later they defeated him and I got the rewards. Can anyone explain this? I never experienced this with my Controller or Dominator pets.

In hindsight, I should of had the leaders come on at 7:00 not just myself. I got so overwhelmed with communication traffic. Also, I was afraid we wouldn't have a full team and this I felt was mandatory to make things easier for all of us.
-
Did you see the comments about being by War Witch? If your there 15 minutes early, you'll be on a team. I did look for all of you during all of this.
-
Quote:Let me make some comments, things didn't quite go like I planned. Let me take responsiblity for the parts I feel I should:Yeah I guess the leaders wanted people there at least 5 minutes early if not sooner. They filled the teams and started a few minutes early. I think a couple of people got the MO, but most did not because we failed the Prisoner part both times.
Sorry I couldn't respond to your tells more, I was busy trying to figure out what to do and listening to Myr's instructions.
First, the list. I didn't have that many sign up for the list so I had to PUG just before the game. I was online all day and started recruiting about 6:30 and I started adding at 7:00PM. I thought that I would build 2 teams and just add the prelisters to the final team. I created a team and then Myrdinn came onlline. I did email the pre-listers about two hours before the event and broadcasted the event on the Hero and Villain sides then too. I tried to wait until 7:30pm but the PUGers were restless. I started at 7:29pm because I had people online since 6:55 and I felt it was rude to them to wait much longer. I didn't want to start re-recruiting again at the last minute.
During the recruiting I was spending too much time answering questions and telling back and forth. What's a master's and other B.S. I just hated this. Myrdinn was gracioius and helped me out with tips on the League interface and I did make prelisters the leaders. TKKID came online and I made him the leader for the next team. I think we got all the prelisters except for two(sevenpenny and master-blade). We did start on time so I was proud of this.
The game play, I had planned to sit down and do a detailed plan before this and but I had fires at work on Thursday and Friday so I just didn't review before the game like I should have. Another thing, with 24 people and especially PUGers, I was concerned about being too vocal. I thought the best strategy was to speak less. TKKID stepped up and became very vocal but we had some on the team who looking for a team not the Masters. I had several tankers on my team and they died repeatedly.
We ran it twice and both failed. The first time, we finished but a few died. The second time, we couldn't kill Siege and Nightstar at the same time.
Another comment I want to make. We had escapees escapes, I was surprised this happen with 24. I thought this would be no problem with 24 but they did. I think if we do this in the future, we should cover the exits not the entrances. See attachment/weblink. There are three exits and this will be better to cover then the other way around. The escapees will be coming to us and targeting will be easier. Since there's only 3 exits, 8 players/a team at each door should be ample firepower to kill anything approaching.

Finally, the time was good. The server was medium load and I experienced no lag except at the initial load.
Tonight, we do the MoLambda with a set team. No Pugs, no trying to fill 15 spots at the last minute. It should go smoother if everyone shows 5 minutes before game time. Try to put your character in the zone prior to logging if you can. -
I"m going online to recruit PUGs so we can have a full team.

BAF is tonight in about 2 hours.

Quote:This is not "required". It's an option. I've gotten my 4th tier Cryonic without spending one inf. The reward table does provide a random very rare, rare, uncommon and common option. Obviously, the common and uncommon are far more frequent than the other two.
As for influence, and it's cap - there's always going to be some players who earn more inf by marketing wisely than by playing. In my case, I like to keep 1 to 1.5 billion on my main, and 200mill to 500 mill on all the others. Understand that when I returned to the game, I only had 23 million total - collected from all of my toons.
I don't think luck had as much to do with large amounts of inf as effort. I focused on marketing, and earning lucrative drops with reward merits and AE tickets.
The players that don't have large amounts of inf are likely alt-aholics - and alts are pricy, and typically don't pay dividends until they are level 50. Any others that don't have a billion are players who just don't enjoy crafting, or prefer to play the story content, rather than the distracting markets.
It's too easy to email a 500 mill dividend to an alt when you reach the cap. Just be sure you claim it as soon as practical, so you don't have to worry about server resets gobbling up your email.
I agree with your comments here. Once a character matures the money is easier to save. Many Alts will eat your inf up real fast especially if you craft. -
Quote:Why should I not run both at the same time? I want to hear this...Did you try NOT running both updaters at once?
Also, if you check the patch notes, you'll see that the main reason for the patch is a stability fix.
Would you rather lose an hour or two patching on Friday, or be constantly mapserved all weekend long? -
Thanks for the update. I'm doing this while trying around the world. I do updates at every airport.

I was online yesterday and it's a real hassle to do this now. The updater isn't even giving me the speeds it used to!
About your comment about stability, this game crashes no matter what!!
I plan my gaming to avoid these updates during key times. I just paid for 4 days in a hotel room and I'm sitting here watching downloads.
Edit: I got commitments tonight and I'm going to miss them. I started this at 6pm and it's 8pm already. -
What's the deal!
Why is the EU gettting all the bandwidth? My EU update is running like the Positron but my NA update "keeps retrying"
EDIT: I feel like I'm play DCUO tonight. The EU update said 152 MB then it aborted and changed to 562 MB. If this happens with my NA client, I won't get on till late tonight.
I hate you today NCSOFT/Paragon !! -
Quote:At this point in the game's life I'd be very surprised to see this cap ever get raised.
Despite how many multi-billions the "ebil" marketeers can earn you still have to remember that maybe 95% or more of players have never even seen a billion INF let alone 2 billion in their entire time playing. The only way the Devs would ever really consider raising the cap is if you start seeing that many more people having billion+ amounts of INF. And I just don't see that happening anytime soon. *shrugs*
What proof do you have of this, 95%? We are having people reaching the top tiers this new stuff within the first week. The high/mid level stuff requires 400,000,000 & 100,000,000 inf per slot.
