Is 2,000,000,000 still the limit for Characters

Is this number still the limit for what characters can carry individually?
What happens when you hit it. Does the excess coin queue until it comes down or is it discarded/dropped?

It's still the limit and if you'd earn anything beyond that from mob defeats or whatever, it's dropped. The exception is if you'd get it through WWs, where instead the interface refuses to give you the goods until doing so would put you at the cap or less.

Yes, still the limit. Any extra is lost. The market won't let you collect if it will put you over that limit.

Note that if you're a fair bit above the cap with multiple sales, clicking on "get all inf" can sometimes just give you 2B while the extra inf vanishes.

I've heard of someone managing to somehow get over the cap lately (but not to the actual 2^31 limit). Juicy rumor, but unconfirmed.

Workarounds, which you may know:
* You can globally email yourself up to a billion inf per email- we recommend collecting it and keeping a gleemail saying which alt is holding the money, because gleemail gets lost or rolled back sometimes.
* You can put bids of [say] 10x 199 million on something worth a lot more than 199 million, like a Hecatomb or a Gladiator's Armor: 3% Defense . The Market code is pretty stable.
* You can buy stuff and hold it as a hedge against inflation- although with Respec Recipes dropping to just over 100 million, "prices fluctuate" is a realistic warning.

So you think you're a hero, huh.

At this point in the game's life I'd be very surprised to see this cap ever get raised.

Despite how many multi-billions the "ebil" marketeers can earn you still have to remember that maybe 95% or more of players have never even seen a billion INF let alone 2 billion in their entire time playing. The only way the Devs would ever really consider raising the cap is if you start seeing that many more people having billion+ amounts of INF. And I just don't see that happening anytime soon. *shrugs*

A few lucky purple drops, though, and that all changes.

In I19 I went from never having seen over 400 million to having 2 billion stashed on a single character, thanks to cashing in Villain Merits and a handful of lucky drops.

Exceptions that prove the rule.

I'm sure dozens (or even hundreds) of people could post here to tell similar stories to yours. That still doesn't discount that the overwhelming majority of players will never even get close to bumping up against the 2 billion INF cap.

I'm certainly not going to sit here and promise you that the cap will never be raised. But I will continue to suspect that the odds of it ever happening are pretty remote for all sorts of reasons.

What proof do you have of this, 95%? We are having people reaching the top tiers this new stuff within the first week. The high/mid level stuff requires 400,000,000 & 100,000,000 inf per slot.

Or just a bit of luck... My dom has 7 rares sitting on her.

No, they don't require *ANY* inf at all. I have received 3 very rares and at least 1 of each rare but not enough of other stuff to get to the top tier. I wish I could buy COMMONS.

This is not "required". It's an option. I've gotten my 4th tier Cryonic without spending one inf. The reward table does provide a random very rare, rare, uncommon and common option. Obviously, the common and uncommon are far more frequent than the other two.

As for influence, and it's cap - there's always going to be some players who earn more inf by marketing wisely than by playing. In my case, I like to keep 1 to 1.5 billion on my main, and 200mill to 500 mill on all the others. Understand that when I returned to the game, I only had 23 million total - collected from all of my toons.
I don't think luck had as much to do with large amounts of inf as effort. I focused on marketing, and earning lucrative drops with reward merits and AE tickets.

The players that don't have large amounts of inf are likely alt-aholics - and alts are pricy, and typically don't pay dividends until they are level 50. Any others that don't have a billion are players who just don't enjoy crafting, or prefer to play the story content, rather than the distracting markets.

It's too easy to email a 500 mill dividend to an alt when you reach the cap. Just be sure you claim it as soon as practical, so you don't have to worry about server resets gobbling up your email.

I agree with your comments here. Once a character matures the money is easier to save. Many Alts will eat your inf up real fast especially if you craft.
