Another Update on Friday :-(

What's the deal!

Why is the EU gettting all the bandwidth? My EU update is running like the Positron but my NA update "keeps retrying"

EDIT: I feel like I'm play DCUO tonight. The EU update said 152 MB then it aborted and changed to 562 MB. If this happens with my NA client, I won't get on till late tonight.

I hate you today NCSOFT/Paragon !!

Did you try NOT running both updaters at once?

Also, if you check the patch notes, you'll see that the main reason for the patch is a stability fix.

Would you rather lose an hour or two patching on Friday, or be constantly mapserved all weekend long?

What I would like to know is, judging by the patch notes this should be a very very small patch but its like 150 MB Thats all most a new issue. Stealth nerfs maybe..lol

No, he/she just wanted to complain. As usual.

It's getting tired and old. The game needs to be updated from time to time. Complaining about it is winning you no friends, and it's gone to the point it's really trolling now. It's unnecessary.

We get you're upset about it. If you're THAT upset, stop paying your monthly fee and play one of the other MMOs that also have downtime and patches.

I would rather they do this on Thursday as advertised as the designated maintenance window.

I was online yesterday and it's a real hassle to do this now. The updater isn't even giving me the speeds it used to!

About your comment about stability, this game crashes no matter what!!

I plan my gaming to avoid these updates during key times. I just paid for 4 days in a hotel room and I'm sitting here watching downloads.

Edit: I got commitments tonight and I'm going to miss them. I started this at 6pm and it's 8pm already.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Why should I not run both at the same time? I want to hear this...

...

For starters: NETWORK BANDWIDTH

Then there's also the issue of the actual patcher. While the PlayNC launcher seems to leverage Xdelta: http://xdelta.org/ :: http://xdelta.org/xdelta3.html :: Xdelta is not exactly known as a processor light tech.

Now, I don't know (for a fact) that CoH now uses Xdelta. In the past CoH has used it's own internal engine for downloading and "compiling" updates to the .pigg file format used for data storage.

Now, on my own multi-core systems, I don't really see a performance impact on processing time in running multiple launchers, either under the Crapware .NET NCSoft Launcher or the older CoHupdater.exe

I do see a noticable bandwidth increase attempting to run multiple launchers at once. It is entirely possible that automatic cut-offs / bandwidth caps, could be applied when running multiple launchers on some ISP's.

You do know what "Hot Fix" means, right?

They put it on the live servers as soon as it was ready. It wasn't ready Thursday.

Maintenance is exactly that. They can patch whenever they have to. The two are not necessarily the same.

Here's your bigger problem. You're trying to use hotel internet to not only play the game, but download a patch. Good luck with that.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

It's an emergency fix and it's a BUSINESS decision. It was done this way to have the minimum overall impact on the playerbase. Yes, some people are inconvenienced. Get over it.

I have not had the game crash EVEN ONCE since Issue 20. Frankly, I might not have had any crashes since the beginning of the year. Whatever crashes you are having are NOT a universal problem.

This patch was very good. I experienced no crashes at all this weekend and I was able to leave my computer on the whole time with no memory leaks.

I finally got I20 downloaded (dial-up, don't want to hear it), the other two patches applied and I came home to a 150+MB patch. I hate hot fixes because it seams that they don't/can't/won't do a differential and make a true patch but instead bulk replace entire files.

Yes I know I'm way, way, way in the minority here. Just blowing off some steam. Hoping to be patched up before the anniversary, if they let me.

It's no fun having to wait for updates when you want to go online is it?

I never understood this as well. Is there something about .hogg/.pigg files that makes this problematic?
