Our commitment to content keeps coming: the Issue 19: Strike Pack update is now LIVE! This update brings players ever-closer to tapping the power of their inner Incarnate with two major new features: the Weekly Strike Target, and the Rare and Very Rare Alpha Slot Abilities!

Every Tuesday, we will announce a new Task Force and Strike Force, or a co-op Task Force, as the weekly Strike Target. Completing the weekly Strike Target will reward a one-time gift of double merits and a bonus to XP. While these bonuses are only rewarded once-a-week, completing the weekly Strike Target multiple times will earn progress towards three new badges for helping other teams.

Completing the weekly Strike Target with a character who has their Alpha Slot unlocked will receive a once-per-week Rare “Notice of the Well” Incarnate Component, which can be used to craft Rare Incarnate abilities. Combining multiple “Notice of the Well” Components with Incarnate Shards will yield the “Favor of the Well,” which can in turn craft Very Rare Incarnate abilities. Some of these Rare and Very Rare Incarnate abilities can even trigger a Level Shift.

Look for the Weekly Strike Target to be announced every Tuesday on the NCsoft launcher and on the City of Heroes forums. For more information about the Issue 19 Strike Pack, visit the Issue 19 Overview Page!

Please note, there is currently an issue related to the Rare and Ultra Rare Alpha slots. More details in the Technical Issues & Bugs forums.

Hm, using the updater is quite good. It's hard to miss... However; I'd also bet a lot of people either bypass or skip through the updater quite quickly. I know I do, unless theres a patch.

Having an in-game display (such as the good suggestion someone did or using the City Info Terminals for Hero Side, and maybe the steet vendor NPCs Redside) would probably be useful too. Not everyone knows about /gmotd etc.

Their switching over to the NC soft launcher soon so that wont be an issue.

WOW! The new badge requires I do a task force FIFTY times with one character? I was thinking it'd be like 10 or something!

It's also an unrealistic target for anyone that wants to get the badge on a character once Issue 20 goes live and people abandon the WST en masse for the new Incarnate Trials. Please either reconsider that total now, or lower it after Issue 20.

You have to remember, you don't have to do 50 TFs in one week. The badge is designed to be earned over a period of time.

And they said they were done with grindy badges... Obviously, grindy is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm reading reports (which, admittedly, I may be misunderstanding) that the WTF is only awarding the regular amount of merits, unless you pick the merit reward. So you only get a double reward if you pick merits, you don't get a double component, or a double SHO.

I'm not suggesting that they should or shouldn't, just that I'll open a support ticket if my rewards deviate from the European press release that took eight minutes to load.

You get whatever reward you pick, plus whatever the normal merits would be. So if you pick Merits, it's double Merits. If you pick a SHO, it's a SHO + Merits, etc. And of course, you get the Notice of the Well no matter what (assuming you're an incarnate anyway).

The issue 19 page shows that the ITF is next week's WST... can we continue this trend of giving us future notice of what "next weeks WST" will be? Big help for coordinating SG/VG teams or other such things.

My guess is that the one after will be the 5thTF/SF, and then the one after that will be the LGTF.

Because nobody ever runs TFs/SFs for merits/xp/fun then? I know it's a high requirement for the badge, but on the other hand I also highly doubt the things will be 'abandoned' like you think. Especially if they give out XP like they're supposed to.

Sure they may not be as 'easy' to get people to run, but certainly not impossible.

The way I see, I interpret it a few ways.

1-To push the badgers that also TF (the 2 player types aren’t mutually exclusive) to have an incentive to redo a TF rather than a “do once and forget, then go back to the usual TF” type deal.

2-On the week that a popular TF comes up, say ITF, that week will be packed and people will skip the Quartermain weeks.

3-I put it on the same level as the Damage Taken badges. Even an OCD like player like myself puts some badges in the “I’ll get them when I get them” category.

Now, Damage Taken requirements were reduced, so this might be too. But, for now, I see it as a background progress thing. Not a “gotta get it THIS week" thing. But that’s just me.

I can’t see regular TF being done with, even with Incarnate Trials coming up. Blasting through a LRSF at +10 level shift will be cool, assuming they all give +1 shift, though they carefully put in “Rare and Very Rare Incarnate abilities can SOMETIMES grant Incarnate characters a Level Shift.” (caps by me) so they are giving themselves wiggle room in case the Level Shift turns out to be a Bad Idea (TM). Of course, I could be wrong, but I see “Speed MoLRSF” coming in the not so far future.

The badges are for 1, 10 and 50 not counting a WST that provides a notice. Doesn't have to be in one week.

Fifty all together. Well, fifty, plus each individual one to put you into having run it once already that week. The longer you take to accomplish this, the more WTFs you have to run.

Another one for me to chalk up as 'never getting'. Glad I'm not a serious badger.

50 WSTs for the badge. Will WSTs continue after Issue 20 drops? Do you only get badge credit while the TF is under the WST Flag? If WSTs stop with the drop of Issue 20, does that mean people who couldn't spend 100+ hours grinding all get screwed?

Yeah i'd put this under the "i'll get it when i get it" category.

Hopefully by the end of the year, but certainly won't be anytime soon. Especially given which TF's are required. That said, If they ever pick the incarnate TFs for the weekly target, those could probably be run 5 or 6 times on any given day I have off. considering how short they are.

Which brings me to the people complaining about not having time to team in an MMORPG, complaining that their time is sparse and they can't devote 4 hours to doing a task force to get an incarnate reward. The Apex and Tin Mage TF can be completed in under an hour. If you have time to watch an episode of something on TV, you have time to do one of those task forces.

Hell, for most of my life there were few games which contained save points within an hour of eachother. I don't like to tell people to leave the game, or how to play, but really if you can't devote that amount of time to an online MMORPG, then it's probably not the best game for you. Perhaps an ipod app game would be more appropriate
