You know, I've never much paid attention to the Vanguard logo until the recent splash-ups on the 7th Anniversary announcements.

Then I started thinking... that looks familiar... like a face I've seen before...


then I found it:

Major Glory!

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)

...So we still don't get the entire Vanguard shoulder piece, as worn by NPCs? What, is it made of solid platinum?

This was my first thought when the Vanguard Base was first opened.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

I really don't have a problem with this booster and will probably buy it just to have the weapon options unlocked at level one. On the other hand this booster is kind of galling because 1) it makes all of the work I've done unlocking Vanguard costumes a waste of time and 2) I'm paying for something that is already in game; I like to buy "new" things, not "things that are inconvenient to get". Long ago when I was a new subscriber with 3 months under my belt and my very first level 50, I ran enough Vanguard missions to get all 1000 merits necessary to buy a full Vanguard costume. I didn't know about Rikti Raids, I'd never even played an LGTF. I got those merits the hard way. It took 6 months. Now I wish I'd never bothered.

here is my tin foil hat time, they are giving us a "free" booster pack,in a effort to shutdown any comments that they are going paid booster pack wild. like the emote pack a few months ago.

after the "free" booster is released, they can say in any forum/interview that they have given free booster pack in the past.

and really how much work is in the pack? a new skin for a pet,a slight change to one of the power emotes? already created costume pieces.

and wonder how much they will make/charge the players that later this year missed the "free"

It also includes the following weapons customizations:

* Assault Rifle, Axe, Bow, Claws, Dual Blades, Katana, Swords.

I hope this includes Nightstar's blades

Not a chance, those are not Vanguard blades, these are the Vanguard Dual Blades. You can also use the Vanguard Katana and Broadsword options in Dual Blades.

Heh, that's a decent tin-foil hat segment. But for more oomph, you should add a bit more like...

They could have just made it like previous anniversary specialty items and just needs the player to log in during the acutal anniversary day instead of tying it to a 4 month subscription time...so maybe they're trying to stifle any player urges to quit and try out the other newly launched super-hero mmo.

Or since the required subbed promo period crosses 2 financial quarters, they're hoping more people would not just keep their sub but maybe reactivate them in order to bump up their numbers in light of the new competition.

Just had a related thought. Does this mean not everybody bought into the 6mo/12mo subscription promo they had back in december? If everyone did, then not sure how much this loyalty program would be needed.

not everyone can afford a balloon payment of $60/$120+, especially in december.

Heh last time they had a loyalty thing it was just for a badge and I was all happy about it...

But now.. free goodies too wich look totally awesome ?? DO WANT !

I have to reinforce what somebody else already said.. that Vanguard poster is true eye candy. I almost want to join them now ^^

ok havent read every single post in here, but i looked at the first and last pages and didnt see exactly what i wanted to bring up

tho someone did bring up a shoulder piece issue, which might be the same thing as what im about to say

im not going to complain about the free stuff, BUT

seriously can we ever get the FULL vanguard set? i was pretty let down awhile back when i realized that no matter how many merits i got I would never be able to buy the thigh armor plates and the backpack that other VG members have, its like the heroes/villains are second rate VG members and that's kinda crappy considering all the freaking work we do for the group (heck I dont ever see VG assaulting the mothership or helping out down at the portal with the Honoree =P)

anyways, i dont see why these things have been kept from us players, its not like they are uniques costume pieces like Blue Steel's shield or anything

and personally I was hoping for a new power ala the Nemesis Staff/The Blackwand in the form of the VG staff/wand, there's already the custom weapon options, but giving players access to the kickass VG staff would have been really cool

as well as finally finishing everyone's perpetually incomplete VG armor sets

here's hoping that one day these things will be addressed

but until then im still psyched and cant wait for I20 and more incarnate content (and SS for scrappers!)

Especially since, according to someone who was in Beta for the VG/RWZ issue, there was a bug where everyone got access to ALL the VG bits. Like, thigh armour and back detail included. And they worked fine. No clipping issues, nothing wrong, nothing.

So...WHY are they still locked out for PCs? It makes no sense!

For those who edit the quickmenu and popmenus, the Authbit is VanguardPack.

Which is interesting, because it doesn't seem limited to actual alignment. IOW, any toon of any alignment can perform any of the four loyalty emotes.

Because they saw the Developer's choices available to them to create NPCs.

And as much as people say, "They worked fine!" I doubt they tried them on all PC models at all sizes and all scales in conjunction with all hair styles, all shoulder pieces, all wings, all boots, and all capes.

Back items - mutually exclusive. So those arent an issue.

Oh, and because EVERY other piece in game fits perfectly without ANY issues at all, yes, hmm, I see how I'm wrong there.
