Fix Praetoria

I'm avoiding praetoria any more, I got my dominator out of that 20 level sentence jail. i don't want to go back, it's hard to level the slow way.

until the issue release that gives us higher level praetoria zones for higher level characters to get contacts and missions, praetoria is a long job.

when it was opened up to higher levels to walk-in, I did go back but I had a sinking feeling and this thought in the back of my head: "god I hope they don't lock my character in here again by some accident"

so.. let make it easier on praetorians so it's not so much of a jail in the meantime.

how about double XP for praetorians? just until higher level zones are released.

Why? It's not a jail. The stories there are better than the level 1-20 content in either the Rogue Islands or in Paragon City. If you don't want to start there, nobody is forcing you to.

I hope you're joking, but just in case...

Unsigned.

I'm already running into places where I outlevel arcs there before completing the whole series. Keep it as it. Praetoria's content is excellent, its travel time, compared to regular CoH zones... is less, and its by far the most well developed series of zones out there. It demonstrates more than anywhere else why the JOURNEY is the game, not the destination. Why race to 20 when there's so much to experience right there?

There's nothing really "wrong" with Praetoria now. It would be cool if it eventually gets level 20-50 content added to it. But beyond that there's nothing to fix. It doesn't need "double XP" treatment any more than Paragon City or the Rogue Isles do.

If you consider it a "jail sentence" to be stuck in Praetoria then don't run or start any characters there. *shrugs*

20 level Jail sentence? o.O

I have to solo most of the time in Praetoria, because on 8 person teams, I level so fast, I'm missing all the story.

Right, if you can't get to 20 in a half hour by leeching onto a high leveled AE/PI/GV team then what's the point in playing? Gimme a break.

I've said it before but this is what happens when people spend too much time in the AE getting PL'd while door sitting. Praetoria is fine as it is, and as others have said it's fer too easy to outlevel the content there.

I have to say that I haven't enjoyed Praetoria. I don't think that there is anything WRONG with it, though. I put two toons in there, one is still there. He is a brute and I could easily get him his last 3 levels if I wanted. My elec troller on Triumph was hard, though. I didn't do much damage and couldn't find teams, so I just re-rolled as a hero.

I think that, while certain mobs hit a lot harder than the mobs that Primals face at low levels, the quality of work in Praetoria is simply so much higher I don't actually care. I could faceplant a million times (literally if it was a blaster ) and not care, simply because I don't have to put up with the shite writing and dreary minion work of Blueside and Redside low level respectively.

Lowbie Primal is the equivelant of 'Go fetch me 10 Mangy Doom-chicken feet'.
Lowbie Praetoria is the eqivelant of 'Hey, here's a world. Go nuts.'

Praetoria is a breath of fresh air after repeating the 1-20 villain lack of content (Heroes at least has some variety). Also Praetorian content is so easy to out level even solo that i have to go through again just to see what I missed.

I can't wait for the next Praetorian release as I was reluctant to leave at level 20......

I will always open up a new toon in Praetoria. Why you ask? First and foremost, I just like the environment they way things are laid out, the detail in the buildings (and yes, they have windows) unlike some in lets say Steel Canyon that are solid brick on three sides..heh..heh. I actually find it easier to solo through a large majority of contacts there. As others have said, when you make a new toon, just don't pick Praetoria as your starting point. You can go Hero or Villain to start. You are not forced to pick Praetoria as you are not forced to watch a TV show you don't like. Just change the channel.

This right here is exactly how I feel.

No they don't.
They have one flavour. Old and rusty.

Nearly every toon I've started in Praetoria has gotten to L20 too fast; I have to turn off XP to be able to do the appropriate arcs. The only toons I don't start in Praetoria these days are Arachnos and Kheldians; I can always go back and do the lowbie red and blue stuff through flashback.

I'd love to see them expand Praetoria, but fix it? The only fix I could wish for would be to fix the unfortunate push to get L20s out!

I'm keeping hope alive it's a troll, because it doesn't get any more AE baby than this.

The only think REALLY missing from Praetoria is SGs, and half of what you want an SG for (teleporters) isn't needed.

Still, if the devs expand Praetoria to more zones (for more levels of content) it might behoove them to give us the ability to make SGs there.

Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.

Isn't that two flavours?

As for Praetoria, I like it the way it is just fine. Some of the mobs can be a bear, even more so depending on powerset. When that's the case then I just fall back on... ZOMG! ...tactics ..and inspirations.

I have yet to run a character through Praetoria and not turn off xp so I don't outlevel the content.

Actually, Empowerment Stations would make Praetoria ridiculously easy.

1: After you make 1 toon go through preatoria, you DO NOT have to start any other toons there.

2: Stop whining about xp gain. It is so easy to hit 20 right now that it doesn't need to be any easier.

3: Stop being a troll.

Praetoria is broken? Was Cole playing Nintendo or something?

Bull****.

Villains have to go to Mercy and decide between Kalinda or Burke. That's it. Oh wait I foprgot Veats. They get 1 mission then must choose between Kalinda or Burke.

Heroes on the other hand get to choose 1 of 10 initial contacts based on origin which are split between Atlas Park and Galaxy City. And if the players are making a Kheld they have complete storylines to follow depending on if they make a WS or a PB which is a hell of a lot more interesting than the unfinished crap VEATS got.

Is the Hero stuff old? Yes.

Is it better than the garbage Villains must suffer thru? HELL YES!!

The main reason people get bored with the same old starting missions heroside is because they refuse to start anywhere other than Atlas Park. That's a personal problem not a problem with the content.

*ships over a plate of catnip-cookies for this*

I can just see it now. Cole is playing with his Colendo Hamiwii console, and he throws the Hamiwii-mote right out his tower into one of Anti-Matter's reactors, causing the entire Island to go into melt-down stage.

Unless I'm mistaken, don't the two sets of contacts (GC and AP) give the same missions? So yes, you can choose between 10 contacts (though really it depends on your starting origin; you can't choose who you get after that), it's really only 5 mission sets.

Unless you want a Dominator without having to suffer ~22 levels of being in the Rogue Isles. In which case you choose between yellow hell or red hell.

I still haven't gotten a character through Praetoria. The missions have been fairly interesting story-wise with a couple of interesting gameplay twists, but I largely feel compelled to solo them. The soloing becomes tedious for me faster at lower levels and progress feels unnaturally slow, so I can only play my Praetorians in short bursts. I think my highest level Praetorian is 12 right now.
