All Things Art: NPC Conversions
PPD Swat Outfits. Tactical gear and all.
Ooh, I forgot about the Legacy Chain helmets and chest pieces. I've been wanting those as well since I first saw the Legacy Chain.
--Virtue--
My 50s:
Tigra Swipe (BS/SR/Dark Scrapper)
Galena Storm (Emp/Ele/Ele Defender)
Master Tolarin (Psi/Fire/Force Blaster)
"We" don't want more items regardless. "We" want more items in the costume creator at character creation. "We" would sooner have NO NEW PIECES AT ALL than have good pieces added locked behind TFs. "We" would sooner PAY for our new pieces than have them for "free" for the price of a grind.
And, yes, I am completely serious. I would sooner have nothing than TF-locked costumes. |
Funny thing is, for as long as you, I or any other long standing player is concerned; most of the requirements that could be thrown at us (in a minor sense) has already been met by more than a handful of the toons in our possession... so the issue of unlocking (as far as you and I are concerned) is mainly moot except for new and fairly new toons; which at our experience and abilities, would make it a breeze to go through and have most minor extras unlocked in short order.
|
I want these costume items on new characters, and "breezing" through the levels with a new character is a colossal waste. I want these costume items on many characters, and unlocking them upwards of a dozen times does not "off the beaten path" make. I do not and will never have any of the Rikti weapons, and I have never seen a full set of Vanguard gear on any character I have ever owned or will ever own.
---
Far as costumes from NPCs go, all I can do is restate my previous requests: Nemesis boots and gloves plus the Romulus shoulders. That alone would sell this to me.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

This is the last thing I'll say on the matter:
I want these costume items on new characters, and "breezing" through the levels with a new character is a colossal waste. I want these costume items on many characters, and unlocking them upwards of a dozen times does not "off the beaten path" make. I do not and will never have any of the Rikti weapons, and I have never seen a full set of Vanguard gear on any character I have ever owned or will ever own. |
I so agree with this. I have had ideas for Roman / Greek characters but didn't make them because I didn't want them to have a "temp" costume to level 35 till I can put them in the correct costume after doing an ITF.
No, no, no to unlockable costumes.
I most definitely want the Carnival mask as usable for both male and female, perhaps a variant on it without the extra glitz and tintable eyes? I have a few toons that would like just a plain porcelain mask. Would also request the Sybil robes, and again a simpler, plainer variant (Not asking alot here as all it would require is an alternate texture, and going by the shader retouching comment earlier I can't imagine that a tintable plain fabric texture would be much to ask). Since we've basically been told full-length skirts aren't happening that's about as close to a cocktail dress on my psychic lounge singer that I'll ever get.
Also Skull/Hellion masks.
And whatever you port make it unisex, don't care what it is.
My two cents:
Sashes (Kheldians, obviously, but see also: Carnies, CoT). My Kheld needs one, my mystical characters could use them, lots of possibilities here.
Logos! Should be a simple thing, no worries about pieces clipping, etc. But if a group has a specific logo, we should be able to get access to it. There are 8 that are available as a vet reward, but I'd like to see 5th Column, Freedom Corps, Hellion, Outcast (etc, etc) logos available for chest options. This, at least, would seem to be minimal effort involved from the art department that would give maximum effect for players wanting some way to visually state that their characters "belong" (or "belonged") to a certain group.
A head detail option that gives us something similar to the headsets used by reporter NPCs, many non-armored Crey, certain 5th Columnists, etc. It doesn't have to be the exact piece, but some type of earpiece/antenna/microphone combo.
I agree with many others that some sort of porcelain-type full mask and half-mask option would be nice, especially if it could be combined with textures (a "50/50" mask, one with the skull or jack-o-lantern look, etc). This falls in-between a "new piece" and "NPC piece" request, I suppose, but it would fit Carnies, Tsoo, and potentially Skulls.
Personally, I would like 5th column masks and chest harnesses. I've managed "kinda close" facsimiles, but as long as we're wishlisting...
Freakshow pieces would be interesting, as they're some of the most common enemy groups encountered, and one of the most visually interesting, although I'm not sure what could easily be converted for PCs.
Carnie pieces (like the bustier) are also often-requested, and while I might not actually use any myself, I don't suppose I'd mind seeing what others come up with...
I understand that Circle of Thorns robes are apparently not in the realm of PC-possible, but could we look at what could be done? Odd as it sounds, one thing I would really like is something close to the sleeves. We have "robes", although they are all martial-arts-styled. Just some nice, loose, open sleeves like the CoT have for their robes would be an improvement. This, and a sash (see first item), and we're halfway there.
Gothic Horror: Dark/Stone Brute | Technophobe: Bot/Dk MM | Snow Leopard: Ice/Ice Dom
I'd like the Longbow pattern for tights please... We can always use more tights patterns in a superhero game.
Personally, I'd rather have shiny new stuff instead of worrying about all the old NPC stuff. They're all old and low rez and the time taken to update them doesn't seem to be worth the trouble.
This is based on the assumption that there is limited art resources to go around. If it all can be done, sure. For me though, I want more high res really cool unique stuff that the NPCs don't have.
Right, let's see what I can get into one list from so far and my own Grabbyhanded wanting;

- 'Blackout' hood (obscures face)
Cimerorans;

- Sybil robes
- Minotaur/Cyclops parts
Right, I think that's everything. Probably not. But, hey, it shows how popular the concept of having NPC parts being useable is, right?
Oh, and;
Rikti;
- Archetype
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

See the chest piece that matches the Tech Banded belt that these Hero Corps Field Analysts have? That would be pretty neat and it would complete the set with the belt. Granted, it might need to be a new piece, but it's been in-game forever.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Fie...lyst_Steel.jpg
I know, dull, but simple.
Knives of Artemis are just chock full of bits and bobs I'd like to see for characters.
Crey Paragon Protector costume patterns. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Par...ctorClaws1.jpg http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Par...r_Elite_01.jpg
Yeah, we can get kinda close to them now, but the actual pattern would be nice.
I would really like the remaining NPC LOGOS as chest pieces. Most specifically...
Hero Corps: They're supposed to be omnipresent, why not let us join? We can already get the Freedom Corps logo.
Hellions: ... We can already summon demons, we can murder heroes, we can destroy school and medical supplies, and we can make Flambeaux cry. Just let us have the demonic symbol already.
Warriors Jacket: Warriors wouldn't work as a chest piece because none of them wear it there, but a variant jacket with the Warriors logo on the BACK would be appreciated.
Skulls Jacket: I'm pretty sure we've already got the Skulls logo as a chest piece, but I'd like a jacket that has that on the back.
Syndicate Jacket: Syndicate Jacket please. With the logo.
Yes, these are signature to a group, however, I believe the existence of Costume Codes and Halloween Costumes shows that looking too close to an enemy type isn't really an issue in the game. And the Veteran Reward 30 month badge suggests that we are allowed/encouraged to make our characters part of enemy groups. If it was too big an issue we wouldn't have VEATs.
NPCs: A Single Method to Greatly Expand Bases
There are some NPC costume pieces that I've been salivating over for YEARS, so I'm quite happy to see this thread taking shape. I'll restrain myself and try to keep my suggestions for costume pieces to be converted to player-usable limited to ones that seem to be fairly doable and reasonable. Listed in order of preference:
1-Ring Mistress boots, gloves, bustiers, micro-skirts... Oh, these would be heavenly to be able to play with! If the devs want to keep the harlequin patterns for sole use by the Carnival, that's fine; we would still love just the pieces themselves! Icing on the cake would be if we could get the RM/DRM bustier with OR without the high collar. I've loved the Carny costume pieces ever since i1 (yes, I go back to pre-i1), and legions of us have asked for these costume pieces since then. If I could only get these out of my list, I'd still be vastly happy.
2-Sybil dresses/costume pieces and Sister Solaris's costume pieces. Even if we only get parts of these, they'd be amazing in terms of several character concepts. Like Golden Av said earlier, if using these pieces would disable capes, I'd be fine with that. Same with trenchcoats or other category conflicts. The way the Sybil/Solaris pieces flow is just stunning, and I'd love to be able to use some of them on my characters.
3-Waist Sashes. Ring Mistresses, Moonfire, Shadowstar, Sunstorm, Tsoo Sorcs... all these have very nice sashes that would help broaden our selection beyond the scant two or three we have so far.
4-Succubus boots! I've long felt these would be ideal as an unlockable costume piece, most likely for defeating demons, but I'd be thrilled to see them as an open and selectable costume piece for the beginning as well. They're exciting, fun, and make a great fashion statement. Time for the succers to share.
5-High lace-up Cimeroran sandals. You know, the ones that go up onto the calf. Perfect addition to the sparse choices we have for minimalist footwear that isn't boots.
Other posters have listed some great ideas, but these five are my personal recommendations and wish list for porting to player-selectable. Thanks for soliciting input from players; now we just hope you don't get drowned in the inevitable flood!
K
Anyway, I would want to see (that hasn't already been pushed a lot)
* Primal Clockwork Parts (scavenged skeletal robotic)
* Skyraiders Jump Bot Parts (narrow skeletal robotic)
* Skyraiders Flight Suit pattern
* Vahzilok Reaper apron
* Vahzilok Morticator bone ribs torso wrap
* Goldbrickers bomardier strap with ?gas grenades?
* Vampyri big gloved talon hands
* Freakshow Meat Doctor backpack (for Crab Spiders only)
* Coralax (parts in general)

Adding two more cents to this thread:
I'd love to see the Crey Scientist setup (I know it's been mentioned), but specifically the full-body medical apron they wear. This is best represented by Nathan Wallace from Repo! The Genetic Opera:
It's essentially the full-front rubber apron coroners/autopsy technicians use to keep from getting coated.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
In specific:
Carnie stuff! -Corsets -Boots -Top with the poofy sleeves -Female shoe (moderately high-heeled mary janes w/button strap) (with carnies, it's the harlequin patterns and textures which are really signature. A generalized version of any of the above would be wonderful) Robes -CoT -Tsoo (if full floor length robe is problematic, open-front robe - like a long coat with patterns and/or textures - would be just fine) Dark Watcher trench coat (coat sans goofy lapel, possibly options other than leather?) Roman sandals that go up the calf to the knee. Sashes. (any!) Hats/headpieces -CoT -Tsoo In general: I don't actually WANT any groups' signature pieces. I want pieces that allow flexibility in creating much more varied characters. Most responders here, and most people I know in the game, have been playing for years. Years! I, like almost everyone I know, am getting really stuck figuring out how to make a new toon look different from any one of a dozen I already have. Anything outside the bajillion spandex and armor options we now have I'd be truly grateful to have! Thanks so much for this thread, as well as the others. So good to know someone out there is listening! |
I agree with this post. If I were to write a list of wants, the very same things would be on it

The belt and the dress/toga/whatever it's called that Sister Airlia and Sister Solaris wear. Preferably split into top and bottom halves for players of course. The bottom half's "hanging cloth" part especially would work just as well for male characters, at least Airlia's non-lacy version would. The bottom half would ideally be a belt piece like the Warrior set (from the Natural Super Booster) has.

Enjoy your day please.
As others have said above, I'd say my #1 want is the Carnie and Tsoo masks.
Closely following that would be the Lost's TV heads.
Well, everyone's wishing for the moon anyway. But if it was up to me, here's my preferences:
PPD Hard Suit pieces. I know they're not all going to work on a player model, but that's still some sweet power armor. I can't ever get enough mech bits for my characters.
Freedom Corp/Longbow chest logo and tights pattern. If there was a way I could get the Stealth chest piece and the logo together to fully recreate a Longbow suit, that'd be rad.
Wyvern helmet, gloves, and boots. I've seen some of these parts recycled elsewhere, so really it's just the bows and drab coloration that's signature for them.
The Crey Armor shoulders/backpack seen on Crey Juggernauts and others. I think the in-game enemies use the mysterious "backpack" slot for those, but surely they could occupy the shoulder slot as well? Maybe the helmet too, but you can pretty much reconstruct it using existing parts.
Pieces off the Imperial Defense Force guy you showed off at the New York Comic Con. Specifically, the gloves. I want those gloves.
It looks like the Sky Raiders are just wearing the Patent Leather top and Baggy Pants bottom, with some extra harness bits added to the texture. Would those be too much to ask for?
EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Resistance guns. Assault Rifle/Dual Pistols/Mercs/Thugs totally need in on that action, even if you have to unlock them with a badge.
Arc #41077 - The Men of State
Arc #48845 - Operation: Dirty Snowball
Carnival of shadows:
boots, corsets, the sash skirt thing they wear and bikinis.
Knives of artemis:
the glowing goggles, backpacks and those chest and hip straps most of them wear.
Arachnos:
Arbiter Capes (atleast for VEATS, come on, we've wanted this forever!) Mu Vestments or something similar to it. Id understand that you would have to disallow capes with this costume. Naylors arachnos insignia labcoat
Freedom Phalanax:
Statesmens helmet, Ms. liberty's Shoulders
Praetorians:
Mothermayhems boots and bikini (i know you probably don't want players having um... thongs? But a somewhat slimmer bikini that shows the hips better like hers would be nice. I'm thinking something to connect to the Angelic costume piece so that it looks like a slim one piece costume when connected)
Malta:
Backpacks
I could probably think of more that has either been asked for or suggested for the past few years.
Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.

What I want from the NPCs are the chest symbols. We have a bunch already in the game. A good start on new symbols would be:
- Freedom Corp / Longbow
- Knives of Artemis
