Patch Notes for build 1850.201007290104.20T2

COMBINED

Mission Architect

  • Custom Critter powers are no longer interruptible.

User Interface
  • Removed pulsating white squares from the Alignment UI.

CITY OF HEROES
  • None

CITY OF VILLAINS

Tasks
  • Breakout - Sakai Tamaki will no longer give the player a blank stare (blank dialog screen) the first time they talk to him.

PRAETORIA

Powers

Critters
  • Toned down the Syndicate villain group, especially at lower levels:
    • Removed one of the melee attacks from minions
    • Created slower attacking versions of the Lts and Bosses for low levels.

City Zones
  • Portals in the Crucible now render from a greater distance.
  • Nova Praetoria: fixed distorted minimap for the zone.
  • Neutropolis Removed trading house sign from building.
  • Neutropolis: There are now police inside Precinct 11.

Tasks
  • Praetorians will no longer lose missions that are not alignment-specific when switching between Resistance and Loyalist.
  • Nova Praetoria – The Clockwork Flower Vendor will now advise players to open their mini-map (hotkey ‘M’) in order to locate the roses they need to pick for Praetor White’s lady. Additionally, the mission objective now contains similar advice.
  • Nova Praetoria – Dr. Arvin: Mission 1: Fixed an issue where players would sometimes spawn in the back of the map.
  • Imperial City – Seer 1381: PPD will no longer show up in droves to assist Seer 0001, she will only summon Seer Trackers to aid her. Additionally, she will summon fewer Seers to aid her thus making the fight more manageable for solo players.
  • Imperial City – Seer 1381: Seer 0001 will now properly turn invisible during her fight, thus matching the dialog that Katie Douglas says during the fight.
  • Imperial City: fixed several mission doors where using the Mission Teleporter would teleport the player behind the door instead of in front of it.

Graphics
  • Fixed a bug that made some of the walls in Praetorian Tech maps white and textureless.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Alignment Tips May Lead to Incorrect Missions: There is a chance upon selecting a mission from an Alignment Tip that you will be assigned a mission from a random different Alignment Tip. You may even be given a mission that is heading counter to your goals (Hero instead of Vigilante or Villain instead of Rogue for example).

When you select your Tip mission, take a close look at the text window to be sure the title matches the tip name and the mission is set to the correct alignment. If you do get the wrong mission, you can abandon it from the Mission tab and select the same tip again.
  • Primal Earth Missions in Praetoria: Some players on Primal Earth are receiving missions that are located in Praetorian zones. If this is the case, you should be able Abandon the mission and retake it to receive a more reachable mission door.
  • Badges which remain Hero/Vigilante restricted or Villain/Rogue restricted: Vigilante and Rogue characters are having issues earning some badges when they first cross over to the other zones. The badges should award to them when they complete the transition (all the way to Hero or all the way to Villain).

Well done.
I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.

OMG, why are you guys wussifying the praetorian mobs??? Its not like they were that hard to begin with. Seriously if anything the only thing that needed to be toned down is those hellified ambushes. That part is the only insane thing at the lower levels where players would have a harder time. Now due to the change melee characters will just get ranged to death instead of being able to engage them in melee where our defenses work best. So not liking these changes.

Bump and Grind Bane/SoA

Hmm decent patch notes. Now make alignment visible in searches, SG, and friends lists.

Since the patch today I am having a new graphics issues that causes this giant boxing/digitalizing of the edges of objects.

I think, in some way, it is tied to Ambient Occlusion, since I noticed it decreases considerably when I turn down Ambient Occlusion, but it doesn't go away entirely. This issue popped up today, after this morning's patch.

Here I was thinking the blinding whiteout in tech maps was just my PC on performance setting. Can't wait to see if this changed them for me!

Yeah, those Blast Masters suck, there are WAY too many of them in a spawn. Clockwork seem vastly overpowered as well. They chew thru full teams like mad.

And why do the devs have so much hate for Stalkers? Nearly all the Praetorian critters have AoE DoT attacks, which pretty much negates any chance of going into Hide.

Am I the only one seeing typos in this or is it a wink and a nod to something? o.@

Thank you for fixing this, devs! I didn't think my eyes could handle those retina-searing white hallways anymore.

Nice touch.

While I understand the reason behind this change, please consider an alternative fix. This change affects one aspect of gameplay, which is "interruptible powers *should* be interruptible". Having an anchor on an enemy or forcing him/her into Caltrops/Quicksand/etc to prevent them to use interruptible powers is a gameplay tactic that shouldn't be taken away.

Suggestions:
  • Snipe powers could have a (substantially?) lesser XP modifier as ranged attacks because of their interruptible nature and longer recharge; or
  • the current XP modifier on snipe powers could be applied only when the critter has at least one ranged or melee attack.

The other interruptible powers (Acid Mortar?) are probably fine because their XP modifiers aren't as big as ranged attacks.

I'm rather intrigued that Syndicate minions and LTs were the Praetorian mobs to get downpowered. I can agree with the bosses due to Leadership pool + psi damage.

2 Bring back Base raids

and ill be 100% happy wont ask for anything rest of 2010

For half of the levels in Praetoria (1-10), you don't even get debt. What's wrong with a little difficulty.

*facepalm*

Sad this has to be said.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

VoodooGirl are you running antialiasing? Try futzing with that setting a bit, see what happens. That looks exactly like what I get when I turn on AA.

Yeah lets not make anyone who just bought the game for the first time enjoy themselves!

This games for the Vets screw all those new blood who don't know how the game works yet.

And giving hints on how to open a map the first time a mission requires you to? I've been told int he old days you couldn't even find the glowies in missions because paniced NPCs would be screaming too loud.

Kids these days have it too easy.

This is sarcasm...I'm being sarcastic.

Oh yeah.

I'm actually suprised these aren't in yet. The map markers were in a couple of weeks before public release, so I thought they would be in soon. I'm hoping that they're in before long. Ideally I'd like an AnnahBeldam as well, but they're not as critical.

You're aware that PFF doesn't phase you or anything, right? Regular foes are capable of hitting you through it; it's just unlikely. Said AV is a tad more impressive than your average hellion.

That's something that happened to me with ultra mode on an ATI card when I had Ambient Occlusion and FSAA both enabled with a specific version of the ATI drivers. Try turning FSAA down and updating your drivers (It may even be the latest set that causes it, though.)

There's also an issue under the Alignment tab of Personal Info. When you do a Morality mission, it will count as 2 instead of 1 if the Morality mission is a reinforcement. For exemple, on one of my scrapper I ran 10 hero tips then a hero reinforcement, then 10 Vigilante tips and a morality to switch to Vigilante. Then 10 villain tips and a morality to switch to villain, and then 10 villain tips a villain reinforcement.

It says:

Total Morality Missions Completed:6 Should be 4
Hero Morality Missions Completed:2 Should be 1
Vigilante Morality Missions Completed:1
Rogue Morality Missions Completed:0
Villain Morality Missions Completed:3 Should be 2
Hero-Reinforcing Morality Missions Completed:2 Should be 1
Vigilante-Reinforcing Morality Missions Completed:0
Rogue-Reinforcing Morality Missions Completed:0
Villain-Reinforcing Morality Missions Completed:2 Should be 1

Also, Missions completed count as dismissed missions too.

I know, not game breaking bug, but since I like stats it would be cool if its fixed.

Hmm. I was hoping to see something addressing the random crashes I'm seeing in Imperial City--especially when leaving the Trading House. I have no such issues in Nova Praetoria.

It's very frustrating to have a approx. 1 in 3 chance of the game crashing every time I leave the Trading House.
