  1. I was once the holder of "Neverminder" on Virtue, but lost the name in a server move. I no longer play him, but it was good while it lasted.

"War Drop" on Virtue. Name will make more sense once Water Blast is out.

"Freedom Laser" on Freedom (of course).

    "Wind Ghost" on Freedom.

And all the coolest names I wanted on Exalted, but got them during the headstart so they don't really count...

  2. Torn between B and C, but voted C. If C wins, I'd be awesome to get ring-less versions of the boots and gloves!

    Tights!

The ideal set of tights I always wanted for COH almost came true with the new Elemental Order set. I say "almost" because the set wasn't treated as tights. IMO, the pants are rather fitting that they would very well fall into the "loose tights" category. (Or "leather tights", maybe?) The base of the Elemental Order boots, I say they're perfect to go along with tights. Unfortunately, tops other than a robe weren't included in the set or I'd have a really nice set of "loose tights" to outfit my relevant characters with. So that's what is currently ideal for me.

That site doesn't run its own server, but uses a hosting company. When the owner of the site contacted the hosting company about the intrusion, he was told that the modifications were done by someone using a valid username/password, and that by far the greatest likelihood was that one of the site admins had his local machine compromised by malware of some sort that had captured the login credendials when he accessed the site.

A scan of the systems of anyone with admin rights on the site did turn up a few minor infections. Those were cleaned and the problem has not recurred since.

My guess as to how it works is that it's probably all automated. Malware is loaded by visiting an infected web site or something similar. That monitors the users system for access to web sites. When it captures login credentials for a site, it automatically scans and infects that site, and the process repeats itself.

So anyway, the short version is, I'd make sure anyone who had access to the titan network scan their system very thoroughly.
This is my experience as well. I had a PHP site with a few extra FTP accounts, and one of those accounts (managed by a friend of mine) had access to a folder within the website. Then the files inside that folder got infected, and they made it so that I couldn't edit the files back and remove the code from the beginning of the files (it was a small site that I could clean things manually). I then asked the hosting company to remove all extra FTP accounts and also change the owner of the infected files so I could clean them. No one had access to the main FTP account other than me, and seeing how the main site didn't get infected, we guessed that the problem originated from an infected machine that had credentials stolen, just like the situation above.

There are 12 items in the bundle, each at costing 33 points seperatly.

    33x12 = 396.
The last piece appeared as 37 for me when I purchased the pack, which would equal the 400 points paid. No screenshots unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure of it.
  6. Kilts' leg geometry for males seems wrong; looks thinner than it should be. I suspect the female leg geometry is used instead. I've reported this issue back when Kilts were released (it's probably time to report again). That bug sets me away from even thinking about Kilts for my characters, which will probably make me avoid those awesome CoT kilts.
  7. Responding to the OP...

For me, Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit look the best among the signature characters. Foreshadow looks very closely to a hero I would create myself (if I could), and Mirror Spirit's costume is just too awesome for words.

    Polar Lights..

I got the Polar Lights specifically because they're small and I'm so satisfied with it that my other tech-based characters will be getting Robotic Drones next.

First, thanks for looking into this for us South Americans.

Second, the whole site "http://launcher.ncsoft.com/" doesn't seem to respond from my IP. And apparently (from what others say), from any IP in South America.

Chrome's error: "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found."

I can easily download this by switching to a VPN in North America, but that beats the purpose of the fix. Please make the "launcher.ncsoft.com" server work for us. Thanks.
  14. Players outside of the US/Europe (case in point: South America) keep getting the old updater to run. NCSoft Launcher won't patch it. Reinstalling everything won't fix it: it's an IP restriction issue.
  15. I can't get it to work.

Made backups and removed everything: games and launcher.

Installed the new client with launcher.

Installed COH through launcher. It lasted less than one minute (?), and when I click "PLAY", the old updater runs. This is not WAI, right?

Running Vista and everything as Administrator. Help please.

[EDIT] Found the problem... I'm in South America. You've gotta be kidding me... I'm now connecting through a VPN in New York, and the new updater works fine. Back to South America and everything is messed up. Very irritating!
  16. I think I'm having problems with the NCSoft Launcher.

It detects my two CoH installs (Live and Test) but it says the following in their properties window:

"This game does not support patching through the NCSoft Launcher."

When I launch CoH, it runs CoHUpdater, not the game itself. Is this WAI? I guess not, because I didn't get the Wisp Aura after logging into the game. Help?

[EDIT] Downloading the new game client as instructed in the just-posted news article.
[EDIT 2] No good. Made backups and removed everything (games, launcher), installed launcher, installed game through launcher... fail. CohUpdater still runs.
[EDIT 3] Found the problem. Apparently, there's an IP restriction in place for players outside of the US/Europe. I'm in South America.
  17. It's that time again, when Latin America users can not buy the newer booster packs.

The latest booster pack the local retailer has available is the Cyborg Pack (...). I've sent a ticket to support to get this resolved.

And yea... I had NO CLUE about this 100mb patch.

When the servers went back up - I would've had to patch then.

But thanks to you, I'm downloading (at a crawling 85kps... UGH) and will be updating prior.

So with that, I love you Keen. You are my savior this evening.

... hey lookit, a klondike bar!

    I mean, you're welcome.

And servers are still down. Allegedly, my ISP's maintenance is over, but it's getting too late for me to raid. Have fun if you guys manage to do it.

    Servers Down

Servers down, 100mb patch (!!!!!) downloading, and on top of that, my ISP decided to do maintenance until 10pm, so my connection is unstable.

It can always get worse. =P

I asked he come back to this one, and will now answer (best I can) the question "Anyone else having the issue, is there a fix?":

It's also been reported in these threads as well, doing a search for the word 'scroll' in this section for the past year:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....ue#Post13695936

There does seem to be a direct correlation to the issue and Microsoft Wireless Mice.

I will reiterate, briefly, what I said in another thread: Microsoft Wireless Mice are junk. Get a Logitech one or go wired Microsoft.

I don't know if this helps, but it at least answered your question: Yes, others have seen this. Yes, there is a fix: Get another mouse.

Well, allright, someone said to, in effect, kill Intellipoint, in one of the threads. You could try that maybe. The results were... interesting.

    ---

I don't mean to sound overbearing, but this *exact* issue has plagued Windows and Microsoft Wireless Mice. It's a very odd problem. I wasted so many hours trying to fix it, before I said "you know what? This mouse isn't worth this time." and fixed the issue with a Logitech.

Windows XP, Vista, and now 7 all seem to have the same issue... and it's *their* mouse!! Don't try to fix it, send them a message by returning the mice and getting either wired ones or the competition that works.

Again, not trying to sound overbearing... this issue was one that really ticked me off and I'm amazed it's still around.

Anyway, truly, good luck to you all with this problem, I hope you guys/gals figure it out one way or another...
Since the links are broken due to the board changes, I might as well report here... that I came home today with a new Microsoft Comfort 4500 Mouse (wired), and the wheel doesn't work properly. It's the second time a Microsoft mouse had disappointed me, I should have learned already. To make it worse, I probably can't return it because their package is so stupidly shaped that I couldn't figure a way to open it without tearing it apart.

Weird enough, scrolling with the wheel works normally inside chat/text windows in-game. It just doesn't work correctly for zooming in-out the character, as I have to spin it a big chunk to get some zooming to work. It doesn't make the game unplayable, I might even get used to it, but it's sure annoying.
  22. I've been playing for almost 4 years, and I bought the game (from LevelUp, despite all the bad marketing) knowing that I wouldn't play with Brazilians. That wasn't a problem for me. Even so, I tried to promote the game among my close friends to no success. I guess the theme didn't cater to them or something.

The idea of a Brazilian M&G was, for *me*, not interesting, because, like I said, I don't play with Brazilians. Sure, I have played with them a few times, but it doesn't compare with how much I play with English-speaking people. Also the frustration of not getting my Brazilian friends to play led me to think the game wouldn't be big here. LevelUp as a retailer only makes things worse.

Still, I hope for more M&Gs in Brazil and that they are successful.

    So sad...

I did that mission only once, ever, and it was extremely frustrating with my Defender. All waves had Sappers. I guess I was unlucky, but still. After I defeated all waves, I found... Frostfire. Sigh.

Never did it again. It was on -1/x1, too.

Frostfire can be missed if you click the glowie and wait for the waves, like the navigation window said. So yes, I waited for the waves instead of looking for an ally. I didn't even know there was an ally. If there was a clue after clicking the glowie, I missed that too, for the same reason.

Now I guess I'll give the new version a try.
  24. I had an average-slotted Spines/Dark Scrapper, and faceplanted to Trapdoor twice, until I came back with loads of purples and managed to take him down. Or make him talk, whatever...

    Dropped the next mission. :x

    My Claws/Regen Scrapper is next.

Edit: oops, the above seems off-topic. Trapdoor was an EB. Well, I suck, so there :P
  25. After doing Ramiel's arc, I joined a Mothership raid, got 5 shard drops and a Grei Matter from the Vanguard tables. Then joined a Hamidon raid for an extra of 9 shards (5 from drops, 4 from reward) and crafted my first common, Spiritual. My Plant/Emp/Stone Controller likes it a lot.
