So sad...

I'm in mourning...

My favorite tip mission is destroyed and turned into the most boring one ever.

Malta gunslinger action figure.

The waves were spaced out over an eternity and half!
They used to overlap so nicely, it used to be mad, crazy and stupid fun.
Now it's just a boring snoozefest... They've respeccified it ><

*sadface*

Here's my "so sad" story:

Zloth is leaving Paragon! Yes, the mastermind behind demoedit is calling it quits. <cries>

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Oh good. They finally fixed that bug. Your loss is my gain.

Is that the one with Frostfire?

That's the one. Although Frostfire was easy to miss, in the cascade of Malta operatives. Now he should be a more noticeable part of the story.

Wait, what? No, I'm still here! I promise!

I think the whole "past the aggro cap on -1x1 if you're not min/maxed" thing was classified as a problem spot, but I just think they were being too picky.

+1. I heard Master of... badges were 'relaxed' because of all the whinging on beta for the new TFs.

The devs are way too soft to the people who cry that something is actually 'hard' to do.

Is that because he will chat with me while waiting between waves now?

He was always standing behind the Longbow you had to talk to before the ambushes started so I don't understand how he could be missed in that mission.

My only complaint about the mission was when the ambushes brought both voids and sappers to my warshade at the same time but that's why the devs made luck inspirations is the way I view it.

All I'm going to say:

I've done this mission several times on a Ninja Blade/Dark Armor stalker who is currently level 44, and skipped taking fitness since it would be free in i19. He has a frankenslotted build with very few bonuses. My stalker runs missions at +1/x1.

Lethal damage is highly resisted by Malta.

Dark Armor without Stamina doesn't like to run all its toggles at once.

Stalkers do not deal well with ambushes.

I handled it fine. It took some inspirations, I won't lie, but it wasn't insanely hard.

I do think people forget that inspirations do turn things to our favor very nicely. I know I wasn't aware of that the first few months I played and it was a nightmare but since then there's only been a few EBs that I cannot even beat with them.

Sorry, I'm in the other camp of this one. I'm all for "finding a way," but that mission missed the exit for "a little too much" quite a ways back up the road...

Mostly Pinnacle, with scattered alts on Liberty, Freedom, and Justice.

I had a great time playing with you!

The only reason this mission was insanely hard for me was because I ran it on no less than +2/x4 and that many Malta at once (as in the stacked ambushes, not x4 spawns) will debuff your defense into the floor unless you're softcapped and have lots of DDR.

I regularly dismissed it, but only because I didn't want to lower my settings.

Look, I found a way! I've used this way many times myself on characters who didn't want to deal with it. The ones who did, loved the stupid waves of DOOOMMMM. There are no missions like this outside TFs. This one proved that you don't need fancy gimmicks to make a mission "different."

On teams, though, the ambushes stacked much too quickly for teams to take out, especially with bosses in the mix. It was not an uncommon sight to see 50+ Malta standing around all in one location, which definitely doesn't cut muster for acceptable mission content under any circumstances...

... not even defeating 100 Destroyers in front of the TPN station. I swear, I hope they shot whoever designed that mission.

I haven't done it since the patch, but that mission was already very easy. Talk to the Longbow officer, walk over to Frostfire, take cover around a corner and defeat the Malta ops as they run to you.

Someone thought it was hard? Really? Hmm.

Driving in the city, it's apparent that people forget they're not the only humans that exist. Likewise in City of Heroes, not every mission situation is played solo.

So your trying to say that mission was only too hard for teams? You could just, you know, say that instead of trying to be snarky.

I did that mission only once, ever, and it was extremely frustrating with my Defender. All waves had Sappers. I guess I was unlucky, but still. After I defeated all waves, I found... Frostfire. Sigh.

Never did it again. It was on -1/x1, too.

Frostfire can be missed if you click the glowie and wait for the waves, like the navigation window said. So yes, I waited for the waves instead of looking for an ally. I didn't even know there was an ally. If there was a clue after clicking the glowie, I missed that too, for the same reason.

Now I guess I'll give the new version a try.
