Urghhh....Not forggeting the fact their 'Brawl' does mid damage, very fast, with stupidly high acc for a 'weakened' punch. Oh, and seemingly uncaring of my Scrappers SR defences at the time.

I ended up kiting them with Repulsing Torrent for a good long time. I wouldn't have minded if they didn't all Auto aggro on me.
Still beat it, cheaty AI aside.

Yeah, just kited them around killing them with the Nem staff, lol. It took forever, but it wasn't hard. Just running in circles got a bit old though. When I'd regen back to full I'd wade in and kick a few to death before resuming my circles.

There are still some tip missions with stacked ambushes. I just ran a level 50 Villain tip last night that got me an ambush of Rikti and one of Longbow at the same time, then two more ambushes back to back while I was still fighting those. Hectic and fun.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

They're definitely not limited to one-per-spawn, however, they seem to be limited that way on default spawns (IE: 0x1)

See, to me, that says that you are getting more than one spawn in very close proximity. In my experience, there may be more than one Operation Engineer (which makes "pick the one that'll drop an Auto Turret if allowed" fun), but only one Sapper. It just looks like more if ambushes get dropped on you mere seconds apart, as this mission is/was infamous for.

I routinely fight Malta on x7. I still only get one Sapper per spawn.

Yes, this mission could send more than one Sapper at you at a time. But those were from separate ambushes.

I've also noticed that "special" spawns (patrols, ambushes, boss spawns, anything but the general guys standing around to populate the mission with enemies) are more likely to contain a Sapper, even on a low difficulty. It used to be that on Unyielding I could go through an entire mission and not see a single one, and the boss at the end would inevitably be hanging out with one.

True, that, and I have seen a fair few OE pairs, too, to be fair. (*shakes tiny Stalker fist at auto-turrets*) There have just been a lot of times facing Malta when I've had to look at a group and pick which Sap to hit first, knowing that Shade or Kestrel would have to eat at least one shot from the other in the process.

I haven't run this tip mission since the update, so I don't know what it would give me now, but it was always a serious sapper-fest when I tried it previously... That's why I started dismissing it on sight. The sheer number of goons running in all at once was evil, but not impossible (At least not as long as the Inspirations held out-). The evil was in being sapped into oblivion on top of being over-run.

I've been farming tips lately and I've soloed the Malta mission loads of times. I did the 'hide behind a corner' tactic and was always able to deal with the malta ambushes as they came.

There's no glowie in that mission, btw, that I could see. There's an NPC to talk to and Frostfire's incredibly obvious to spot.

Eco.

With Sapphic Neko on this, the original was hard, but 'do-able' solo with most toons. Frankly if people find some tips too hard they can always dismiss the contact.

I always thought the ambushes were ridiculous but I thought that was by design. I had to tone down my settings to +1/8 when running it on my DM/SR. When I tried it on my usual settings I couldn't figure out why the devs would put FF in the mission just to die within the first 30 seconds of the ambushes. It was a fun mission and I enjoyed the challenge; however what some of players need to realize is that not every toon is built to handle ambushes of that nature. I actually wonder how a traps toon would fair? My guess is they wouldn't do too well after the initial ambush.

I did that mission repeatedly on my Widow and loved it because it was fast-paced but mostly because she was soft-capped for defense on -1x1. I tried the same on a DP/Nrg blaster... and it was horrible. The ambushes came faster than her DPS and she faceplanted over and over. And again on my mind troller... who mass-confused everything so the ambush became a free-for-all.

So yes, little disappointed as I had a 'Save Frostfire' optional sub-quest with that one. He only perished about a third of the time I did it.
