Check your Mouse Settings in the Control Panel. My "wheel button" on a WinXp system, using Microslop's Optical mouse is set for Autoscroll

I'm running windows 7 I don't have the option the set it to auto scroll.

What? That isn't under the "Scrolling" tab in the Mouse Control Panel applet?

It has nothing to do with the game's settings. Windows Vista and Windows 7 both have wheel scrolling issues with certain Microsoft mice...such as my Wireless Internet mouse 2.0. Try getting the latest Intellipoint drivers from http://www.microsoft.com/hardware

I updated mine and I can now scroll a bit, but sometimes have to scroll very fast to get some movement out of it.

I know this is a bit off topic, my problem is the scroll button click which normally locks your character and you are able to rotate. When I click the scroll button on the mouse it just freezes the screen for a second and does nothing. Any suggestions for that particular problem?

Check your button settings in-game. See if circle view is still tied to the scroll button.

Not to be a rat, but Gargamel posted a new thread regarding the same question.

I asked he come back to this one, and will now answer (best I can) the question "Anyone else having the issue, is there a fix?":

It's also been reported in these threads as well, doing a search for the word 'scroll' in this section for the past year:

There does seem to be a direct correlation to the issue and Microsoft Wireless Mice.

I will reiterate, briefly, what I said in another thread: Microsoft Wireless Mice are junk. Get a Logitech one or go wired Microsoft.

I don't know if this helps, but it at least answered your question: Yes, others have seen this. Yes, there is a fix: Get another mouse.

Well, allright, someone said to, in effect, kill Intellipoint, in one of the threads. You could try that maybe. The results were... interesting.

I don't mean to sound overbearing, but this *exact* issue has plagued Windows and Microsoft Wireless Mice. It's a very odd problem. I wasted so many hours trying to fix it, before I said "you know what? This mouse isn't worth this time." and fixed the issue with a Logitech.

Windows XP, Vista, and now 7 all seem to have the same issue... and it's *their* mouse!! Don't try to fix it, send them a message by returning the mice and getting either wired ones or the competition that works.

Again, not trying to sound overbearing... this issue was one that really ticked me off and I'm amazed it's still around.

Anyway, truly, good luck to you all with this problem, I hope you guys/gals figure it out one way or another...

Oohh my apologies I should have looked.

I started a thread a while ago about this.
Turns out what you need to do is
1) kill the ipoint.exe process.
2) Open the device manager
3) disable the mouse
4) enable the mouse

DO NOT open the mouse settings or you will have to repeat this process.

I am also having this problem with a wired Microsoft mouse. I even went and installed the intellipoint software from Microsoft with the same results (not scrolling) in 64 bit Windows 7 Ulitmate. The exact same hardware (including mouse) using 64 bit Windows XP works fine. I upgraded from 64 bit XP since there seems to be no anti-virus software that is designed for it. Everything else properly recognizes the mouse scroll.

I'm guessing that the problem is with CoH and Vista/Windows 7. Microsoft must have changed how the mouse wheel data is transfered with Vista/Windows 7 and CoH is not reading it properly. Even WoW is reading the wheel in Windows 7.

Since all my other software is reading the scroll properly, I think that they need to get off their butts and stop blaming Microsoft. Yes, Microsoft is partially to blame for the change in the Operating System, but that happens. CoH needs to be updated to fix the problem.

If the microsoft thing still isn't working, re-check the game settings again. There are 2 options to check on in the Controls section.

First is Mouse Scroll > Enabled

Second, Mouse Scroll Speed, is most commonly accidentally set at "1" for some reason, so just raise it to like 20 or more, or else it will look like it's not even scrolling at all, even though it is really scrolling like 1 pixel at a time. I've had this value reset on me for seemingly no reason at times... so it might be worth double-checking again after.

This is basically the same thing I had to do on my laptop running win7... but I only had to do step 1.

I know I'm bringing back an old thread, but I wanted to post that this issue is still alive and kicking and also in case anyone runs into this problem. Installed 7 on the GF's computer last night. Playing CoH today she noticed this issue. She has a wired MS comfort mouse 3000 and had this problem. Following these steps fixed the problem.

Oddly enough, my ancient MS wheel mouse optical did not have this issue. I swear I'll hold a proper viking funeral for this mouse when it finally dies.

I'd suggest sending a PM to our new Bug Hunting Arbiters (Curry and Oates I believe are the names) with a link to this thread.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Since the links are broken due to the board changes, I might as well report here... that I came home today with a new Microsoft Comfort 4500 Mouse (wired), and the wheel doesn't work properly. It's the second time a Microsoft mouse had disappointed me, I should have learned already. To make it worse, I probably can't return it because their package is so stupidly shaped that I couldn't figure a way to open it without tearing it apart.

Weird enough, scrolling with the wheel works normally inside chat/text windows in-game. It just doesn't work correctly for zooming in-out the character, as I have to spin it a big chunk to get some zooming to work. It doesn't make the game unplayable, I might even get used to it, but it's sure annoying.
