  1. One day someone will explain this eight-year fascination with Pacific time to me. Seems to me like a game played by a world-wide audience should run on UTC. When one schedules a live event I can see waiting for the PTers to be aboard, but for adding something to the store?

It's been a long haul through this last eight years on that sort of schedule.
  2. This morning Water Blast is a selectable power in character creation but isn't for sale because it's an unknown SKU. Looks like the market and the game aren't in synch yet.
  3. So, at its core, this contest is open to people with a legal copy of Photoshop?
  4. "In rapid-fire brainstorms deep within the bowels of Paragon Studios...."

Paragon Studios had brainstorms in its bowels. Doesn't sound pretty. Not pretty at all.

    Block that metaphor!

Other that that, everything about Freedom really rocks my feathers!
  5. And on top of that, phone support is available for five hours a day. Five hours a day? Even banks are open longer than that. What ever happened to eight-hour work days?
  6. This was not one of their better strategies. (I suspect this is across the board because of problems with Lineage account hacking, but what the heck do I know?) I got my unlock codes and Unique IDs and all that stuff seven years and five computers ago. Sometimes files got copied to the new drives, and sometimes they didn't. In this case, when I needed serial numbers, I'd just log into account support. I have no way of knowing what the me of seven years ago was intending as the answer to my unique password hint question, so I'm stuck until Support deigns to respond.

What a lovely system, and so much warning ahead of time!
  7. Yeah--it took the client several minutes to pop that dialog. Longest time I've ever seen it take to do that. I've seen the slots go away before--*it'd sure be since if we got to keep them even when the store was down*--but the dialog usually comes up about 100x faster.
  8. ...but no message that the store is down. Anyone else seeing this? Just lost a slot I deleted to make a new hero.
  9. I downloaded 258.96 today and didn't install it. And now I probably won't.
  10. Which driver version did you download?
  11. Geez. It was drivers that drove me from Matrox to ATI, and drivers that drove me from ATI to nVidia.

    Where to go now?

I'm doing fine on my own, thanks. I want to learn to master my character by learning what I can and cannot do at each level. That means your "help" is actually in my way and makes me waste my game time while I wait for it to wear off so I can go back to what I was doing.
Some people, you couldn't even hang 'em with a new rope, my Grandma used to say. Ironically, your post comes across as terribly rude and a touch arrogant.
  13. I have an 8-core 9GB gaming rig that cost $1100. That's about $600 less than the boutique prices, or even those for the big-name online builders.

I'm pretty sure it'll handle Going Rogue with ease, although I hadn't heard there were going to be any enhancements in that which would require more power.
  14. (I already did a search. The search came up empty [the last references to Crey sleep and defiance are five years old], so here I am asking.)

The last two times my Archery Blaster has gone up against the Crey lieutenants that have a sleep power, her Defiance has shut down. Ordinarily she'd be able to use the two lower powers to keep pinging away at the bad guys, but in this case, it just doesn't work. When did Crey get an exemption from Defiance? I don't see it happening with other villain groups with similar abilities.
  15. 9AM to 11AM EDT as of Sept 25th. They're rolling back two hours.
  16. Man, I hope not. It'll take me a long time to see it on a 9GB system, but it's definitely worth watching. When the servers come back up this morning I'll look at the memory usage on my system.
  17. I'm running a core i7 920 with 9GB of RAM. Cost me under $1200. Why is everyone waving these high prices around?

Should be: "The target is held helpless, while they are slowly crushed by the vines."

I'm not sure about the comma. It looks odd to me since it doesn't seem like there should be a pause in the statement.
Even that replacement isn't right, since "target" is singular, while "they" is plural.

I believe the correct rendering is "The target is held helpless while being slowly crushed by the vines."
  19. To some extent you're fighting a losing battle here because CoX isn't designed to run multiple instances on the same machine, and NCSoft will tell you right away that they don't support such efforts.

I'm also interested in the meaning of "I didn't not set one," which means, as I understand it, "I set one."
  20. I upgraded our base plot today. Paid about 312K for it, got back about 82K. All was good until I realized I didn't like the placement of the old plot in the new, so I redid it to get the old content to a different corner of the new plot, and suddenly I'm showing -75K. The supergroup dialog shows 152K in prestige, but the base editing view shows the negative value. Leaving the base and coming back didn't affect it.

In the situation where it looked like I traded out a plot for one of identical size, it should have deducted, then credited, the 312K. The leftover number doesn't even match that math.

    [Time passes]

I had to log out completely and bring in a new character before the situation righted itself.
  21. I went with 20h. So far it looks like the fix works. I see some odd slowdowns once in awhile, but no crashing.
  22. When you write 20, is that 20 hex or 20 decimal? The default interpretation in RegEdit is hex, so I don't know if you mean 32 decimal or 20 decimal.
  23. Nope, that's a good idea. I'm going there after writing this.

Okay, looks righteous, but I'll have to delay trying it until we get back from vacation.

Mallard, check my new sticky (not yet in my sig) for the step 3 (new) of dealing with that stupid error 13/14 bug, LOL.

Also, I'd suggest you roll back to the 185 driver, as the 186 is prone to odd graphical hiccups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought about that, but the latest driver has the newer (and presumably more stable) PhysX code. I'd hate to lose that. Kind of.

Since Vista SP2, the average occurrence of the crash is about once per eight hours. That's almost tolerable. If it increases in frequency, I'll fall back...if I can find the blamed thing. (I usually archive the loaders. But maybe I was sloppy that day because She Who Must Be Obeyed was bugging me about leaving for the mall or something.)
