Today is officially my account's expiration. Before I left, I wanted to make it a point to get my 3 main toons to the 1200 badge mark, and I'm happy to report that I have succeeded:
I want to thank everybody for your support and kind words. The Horde means a lot to me, and I have recently altered my forum signature and avatar to include "forever" on them. I'm horrible at "goodbye" messages, but since I plan on popping in for free weekends and/or events, it shouldn't really be goodbye. We've already had many discussions about my departure for weeks now, so all that's left that I can really say at this point is that you will all truly be missed, and I wish you luck. I hope you all accomplish your goals and enjoy your time here. I certainly did, thanks to all of you.
See you soon!

Some people already know that this is my last day playing. I haven't really been around since i20 was released. I wont get into specifics here because that's not what this thread is for, but I wanted to at least get my other 2 badge toons in this club before I go.
Master-Blade: 1214
Teal Tabby: 1200
Robin Rogue: 1200

It's been a blast while it lasted, and I'll miss you all. Good luck! -

Quote:Except the World Detail should have little-to-NO effect on server transmission. The city is loaded from the client files. The only thing the server needs to send us is the position and status of Players and NPCs (which include vehicles), but that information is constant and their draw distance is not affected by World Detail anyway.Changing world detail to 100% on your computer may help with that, but only because it might require the servers to send less information to your computer.
Besides that, I agree that it's more of a server or network issue when the vehicles are stuttering, and there wouldn't be anything you can really do about it on your end. -
It seems that sometimes a character isn't really logged off completely. Friends might have been able to see that character still logged in all night long that you were not playing it, but the "Shard" (server) area in the friend list would be blank, indicating to us that the person is not really online, but the character is stuck in limbo until the account is logged in again. That might account for some of the errors.

Just a side-note, I did slot Brenda this week, so I'll be bringing her still.

The Playerbase has practically picked it's own "Launch-Zone": Pocket D... or at least that's where most people seem to gather for it anyway. It's a central co-op location with a Tailor, Vault, and Inspiration vendors anyway. There is even a Trainer too, but that's not really needed for Incarnate trials unless you are switching builds. I guess they could put an Auction House there too, but that might be over-doing it a bit. haha

Quote:That's not really true either. If the global you are sending to does not exist, the e-mail will simply be instantly returned to your own in-box, but the item should not be auto-claimed (unless of course the Claim button is overlapping the Send button, and the OP is double-clicking instead of single-clickingYour global didn't change with the merge did it? (if it was an EU account it may have - if it was a trial account it will have) - If the global you send it to doesn't exist you will get the behaviour you describe.

I wouldn't worry about that. This type of thing happens from time to time. Most likely, the zone has crashed/frozen and has not been reset yet. It'll certainly get reset at the maintenance tomorrow morning, and all will be fine again. Until then, you could try sending a /petition from one of your other characters to have a GM move your affected toon(s) to another zone so you can use them. OR, they might even be able to forcibly reset the zone once they realize there is a problem with it.

Whether or not you have a playable character on Beta, it would still let you log in, but there are a couple other factors involved.
First, it may take some time before the Test and Beta servers "catch up" to your actual account status, sometimes even a couple of days. That means if you just now activated, you might not be granted access.
Second, the server might not yet be set up. I haven't been following it's status, so I don't know for sure, but generally that message could mean they haven't activated player access, or your account doesn't have the level of access they are currently allowing. The announcement says 8pm Eastern, which isn't for almost another 9 hours.
Anyway, to copy a character, go here:

Generally, the first digit is just the Series number. The second digit gives a better indication of how powerful the card is. For example, a GeForce 8800 GT is much better than a GeForce 9400 GT, despite 9400 being a higher number than 8800. In this case, the 8 is higher than the 4. To make things more confusing, the 200 series you mentioned (260 280), are actually newer than the 8000 or 9000 series, and the 400 series even better than that. As far as your Radeon issue is concerned, the HD series has it's own series numbers that don't necessarily correspond or compare to the 9000 series or the X-series cards.
Of course, there are several other factors when determining which cards are good for what you need, or which are better than the other. More specific information about the chip specs can be found here:
NVIDIA Chips Comparison Table
AMD ATI Chips Comparison Table
There are also many other threads on the forums where people have discussed which cards to use.
As for your specific question about the Radeon HD 6770, I'd say it should be fine. I use the Radeon HD 5770 on an older computer and I get great performance with mid-Ultra settings. -
Indeed. It was likely your playerslot.txt or playernotes.txt file being corrupted. This has been an ongoing problem for some people since Issue 12 when the files were introduced. I'm sorry I didn't notice your post or I would have mentioned that before now. Glad you found the solution though.
As an added preventative, some of us have changed the properties of playerslot.txt to "read-only" (after making any necessary character position adjustments) to make sure it doesn't cause any more issues. Unfortunately doing the same thing with playernotes.txt makes the feature unusable, so many of us simply don't even use the feature. lol -
Quote:And also defeating the same number of the same type of foes (Bosses, Lt, etc..)You also need to take into acount that if you want comparable stats, the teams need to be made up of the same people every time. This way you are getting just about the same figures every time.
Personally, it seems like a lot of work just to find out what everybody else already knows: (It's random and prone to lucky streaks and unlucky streaks even if you find the "best TF for shards") lol -
If it doesn't work, I hit Back and then copy the pmid from the message I'm viewing, then try the Reply button again. if it's still broken, I'll paste the pmid into the url and it works fine.

Basically, what Blondeshell said. Those exact islands are in 2 places in the game. Their badge locations are not interchangeable. If you are actually in the Monster Island Zone (took a submarine from north of Grandville), then use Monster Island's badge maps.
The areas north of PI are officially named Tempest Quay and Cutlass Isles. In fact, the "neighborhoods" inside the Monster Island Zone are even called the same thing, but if you are just in PI, then make sure you look at PI's badge map instead.
On a side note, if you want to really explore (and not just get the badges), be sure to visit the NW corner of the Monster Island Zone.

The "4 Year Anniversary Calendar Wallpapers" can be found at the bottom of the Wallpapers page.
They did list the events, but only ranged from May 2008 to April 2009. Many people requested CoH calendars after that, so I created some unoffical ones from May 2009 to September 2010 (found here), but I didn't list any official events on them, and I haven't seen any other offical calendar since then either.
Best thing to do is stay tuned to the Forums for announcements. I'd say to make sure your account E-mail address is up to date and sign up for the e-mail alerts, but I think those are handled by a third-party, and often arrive much later than forum announcements. (Even if you don't sign up for alerts, keep your account E-mail address is up to date anyway though)

Quote:You are correct. The game reads the commands as you type them from left to right, but due to that queuing side-effect, each command (if eligible) interrupts the last one, making it actually work from right to left each time it is pressed (in this case). Also, IIRC, due to it "power queuing" when you make them (I know it does when you use them) - the last command in those lists (for the red skittles, the last one combines awakens) is the first that will try to execute, then the next, etc. If I'm wrong, it will be the other way.
I'm mentioning this because that lets you reorder the commands in the bind chain to use what you use least, first. -
Most likely, the site uses "Recommended Ultra-Mode system requirements". Those should allow you to play with decent performance with ultra mode on lower settings, but running "full blast" would require much more to stay stable.

Quote:Umm.. that's not his name. That's how Tells work. They show the name of the person you are talking to for both To and From messages. The "-->" is what signifies it is To that person, rather than From.Your chat box in the pic makes it look like you were talking to yourself... and getting responses!
Nothing unusual going on.
Back on topic, is the affected character a Praetorian? I've noticed issues using Ouro with some unlockable contacts. For example, my Praetorian character cannot do any of Doc Buzzsaw's arcs in Ouro, despite having the pre-requisite badge, and despite having run the arc "for real" when I was in the level range. Then again, this may simply have something to do with the required Inf badge being different for Praetorians, and might not apply to other unlockable contacts. -
That depends what arc you chose. I've noticed that some of the contacts are Broken, especially ones that have changed location/appearance over time. Basically, Ouro is trying to send you to the previous version of the contact, which doesn't exist anymore. For example, Maria Jenkins was broken when her arc/avatar changed. Not sure if it's been fixed yet. It's been a while since I tried.

Quote:Just to confirm it should look something like this
/bind <key> "beginchat /send "Defiant Events EU" ($name:$level) "Quote:By the way, the way you are using quotes WILL confuse the game. It will read what you did as:
/bind <key> "beginchat /send" <error second string> <error third string>
In other words you gave the bind command too many parameters.
In short, my channel binds (even in my default bind files) look exactly the same as described above, and they work just fine. -
I love you guys, and I'm sorry I wont be joining you for the next round. Being a part of this for the last couple years has really been wonderful. Each week had something to look forward to, and sometimes something extra to work toward during the week (unlock pre-requisites / get into lvl range). That doesn't even include all the great people that we've met and personal experiences that we've shared. I highly recommend this group to anybody who is available. Luna is a star! I want to wish everybody well and I'm sure you'll all have lots of fun!

Quote:A highly annoying state of affairs. I find the Arcane teleporters to be much more aesthetically appealing, and the Tech beacons to be a heck of a lot easier to interpret when scampering through the base at speed.Quote:Yes, that's long been a complaint about the beacons. (that, and the fact that the art on the Pocket D and Grandville beacons is still broken. Grrr!)
One workaround is to use both beacons; I have the Arcane beacons behind my Arcane porters so they work, and Tech beacons in front of the porters for easy identification. You need a fair bit of excess control to pull that off, however, since you'll be charged control costs for both sets of beacons.
/optionset ShowVillainName 1
That will display the names above all objects in the base.. making your trip through even an unfamiliar base, a breeze!
