[Forums Issue] PM "Reply" function intermittently borked.

Okay, about 90% of the time, when replying to a PM on the forums, everything works as expected. The name of the person I'm replying to comes in, as does the body of their original message.

HOWEVER. For a small number of specific people, I CANNOT get this to work properly. And it's always the same people. When I hit reply, I get a completely blank PM form.

If I wasn't so prolific with PMs, it'd be a "no biggie". But I'm helping people via PM and having to copy-paste everything into a new PM window

...gets annoying as hell after a while.

Any chance anyone knows what this issue is caused by and if there's a fix for it?

I've had that issue since we got migrated to the new forums. I don't expect there to ever be a fix.

Under "Options" in the User CP, there's a checkbox called "Enable Private Messaging." Is it possible that these people have left that box unchecked? That would explain why it's the same specific people each time.

Until this gets fixed (if ever), I can provide you with the following work-around:

In your address bar, change showpm in the URL to newpm and press enter.

And there's a way to tell if clicking Reply will work right or not: Hover your mouse over the Reply button, and look in your stats bar. If it doesn't show the link as being http://boards.cityofheroes.com/private.php?do=newpm&pmid=nnnnn then you're going to have the problem you describe.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:

As Bill said, it's been this way since the migration to vBulletin. I can usually overcome it by going back to the PM and hitting Reply again. In my case, it's not always the same people, and I can usually easily send replies to anyone even if I have to use the Back button and try it again.

There was something else I was doing for a while, but I can't recall what it was. It wasn't what Kheldarn suggested however. Now I at least have another method to use, if I remember it.
