probably 2,925,000.
Only $3 million dollars in sales? That's barely enough to cover salaries for the year!!
Thankfully, that's $3 million dollars for the quarter. A rough guess is that CoH will only make $5 million dollars for the year, unless they got some trick up their sleeve to significantly raise that figure like releasing a boxed expansion. But that's crazy talk.
Like saying the franchise is in trouble.

To date in 2010, CoH/V revenues are well down on year-on-year comparisons. Q1 and Q2's combined revenues are about US$5.8m vs Q1 / Q2 2009's US$10.3m. Although Q2's revenue is slightly up on Q1's, I'm putting that down to GoRo pre-order dollars and there may be an exchange rate effect (US$ improved against the KRWon, so that every $ is worth more Won).
Saying that CoH/V generated about US$2.9m in Q2 2010 sounds like a lot, but it really depends about their expenses over the same time period.
(All US$ could be a bit out due to differences in exchange rate calculations, but I believe they are roughly accurate.)
Here's the link to the quarterly figures. Most interesting in there is that Richard Garriott's court payout appears to have knocked over about 50% of NCsoft's expected income for the Q2 2010 period.
Holy carp! They're still making money off of a game that's been out for this many years? Insanity!

I have to side with Nethergoat as well on the response to a "sequel" title. The mods have been aggressive against players swinging clue-bats around the forums lately.
I will stick by my previous statements on the possibility of a sequel title. NCSoft won't be making that call until March of next year at the earliest, but more likely April or May.
$3 million USD sales revenue just for one quarter. As I mentioned above, that's about what salary is for the year. The first quarter probably paid for non-salary operating expenses, making quarters 3 & 4 all profit.

Even if it is just a guess it is a reasonable conclusion that the game still makes money, otherwise NCSoft wouldn't keep investing in it.
yeah. this was my thought as well. The second quarter numbers are right before a major expansion, right on the heels of several new MMO's, and with little to no advertising, and it's STILL bringing in money?

In 2009 CoH/V generated about US$18m in revenue across Jan - Dec.

I don't believe they can count the pre-purchase as rev yet. If i remember from my accounting classes, since they haven't provided you with what you paid for yet, they can't say they've made money till they do (provide you with what you paid for, that is). So on Tuesday they can, i would expect then to see the numbers up in Q3 between the consistent player base and the GR pre-purchase sales and retail sales. Though i suppose i could be wrong.

eh, id be unsurprised if most games were slow about now, the economy REALLY stinks right now. I wouldnt be surprised if most recreational spending was down. (by the way, how do they do those 14 month deals? technically the revenue only goes in once, or do they spread it out over the months that it covers? i have been on those since the first one was introduced, and wont pay again till may of 2011.)
2nd quarter 2009 6,673,000 6% Ncsoft revenue
2nd quarter 2010 3,491,000 2% Ncsoft revenue
Spin the numbers however you want, it says much that no one even bothered to acknowledged that they are there
And just for the people going wow its a 6 year old game take a look at the numbers for lineage 1 a 12 year old game
Is that total revenue as in what's coming in or is that just profit?
That's a huge difference...
80 employees with minimum of 60k/year = 4.8 mil...
assuming server costs make it an even 5mil
As long as they are making above 250k in profit they are good.
Considering that... they are making roughly 5mil a year on it and that's not all that bad... of course if it's net or gross makes a 5mil difference still... I'd like to think they were making 10m profit but that's unlikely unfortunately.
The point?
Lemme' ask a quick question - what are we trying to prove here?

We ?
I was pointing out that some people have an incredible ability to ignore the elephant in the room. Whats more they think if they talk about how great the furniture is no one else will notice.
Other people who have long ranted on how population decline isn't happening and the people that complain about it aren't doing things right seem to be offended by reality.

Were I you, I'd just quietly let it drop and die. I am not you, however, and I think you are probably going to keep pressing until something explodes. Or is deleted, banned etc.

Seriously, it's not like you do anything but try to antagonize others. Do you have any solutions or suggestions to offer that aren't really ploys aimed at antagonizing and insulting others? i'm somewhat puzzled by people who continue subscribing to a game while constantly whining about how much the game sucks, ******** that anyone who actually enjoys the game is a mindless fanboi, and crying that it's d00med.
Yeah, we get it by now. Some of you have been posting how the game is failing and the end is here for over four years now. It's doomed and eventually, someday, you'll get to stand over the ashes and cackle how you were right all along. In the meantime you'll do as much as possible to convince others that the game is about to die and irritate those who actually enjoy playing. After all, it might speed up the end so you can boast about how right you were.
