I'm glad that all the effort that would have been needed to keep the markets separate will go to far better use somewhere else.

While having a merged market is a nice QoL change, I have never, and still don't, understand why this was a major issue. At most, the redside market meant you had to wait longer to get your sets. With the exception of PVPers, there was never any NEED to have all the shiny enhancements. Sure, they made things nicer, but need? A lot of it came down to luck. Very few of my IO sets were purchased. Almost everything I have on my two main characters was gotten through drops. Pretty much the only thing I really used the markets for was dumping the buttloads of IOs that I couldn't use or didn't need.

I agree that the prices were outrageously high, and that redside was worse than blueside, but really, both sides had ridiculous prices for things and were geared towards people who have large amounts of time and poor impulse control.

I have left out another group of people impacted by the merger of markets. The people who do the market almost as a game unto itself. I feel bad for them, because all of their work figuring out the markets will be gone. On the other hand, they now have an all new market to analyze, and I have no doubt these people will be happier in the long run.

In any case, Having INF be the same between groups, and having a single market is a great thing that I look forward to, mainly because it just means less junk I have to think about whether I am on redside or blueside.

My markets are getting merged, bizzlenitches.
There are so many posts to quote but I am going to choose this one.

Thanks devs!

Wow, you haven't really been trying have you? My latest Stalker is one badge short and so far has made more than 100million inf getting this done. You just need to be a little patient bidding on the salvage and selling the IOs.

These changes are very exciting and will simplify not only the way we create content, but provide freedom for you to play your characters the way you choose.
I'm pleased by these priorities and the wisdom they suggest.

Influence and Infamy have always encompassed more than just the “kindness and goodwill of the citizens of Paragon” and the “fear and terror which allows you to extort denizens of the Rogue Isles.” Yes, some if of it is actual resources which can be taken with you. It’s also assumed that if you are leaving one city for another that you would “cash out” and call in every favor you’re due on the way out. This is all handled for you behind the scenes, but from an in-character perspective that’s effectively what’s going on.

If you feel as though some of that “goodwill” and “extortion” earned is something you shouldn’t be able to take with you, stay tuned to Going Rogue information for something in this vein. However, it will not be INF in any fashion.

As for the Market Merge, two recent developments in Primal Earth are responsible for this change:

One is the sudden emergence of a large number of fallen heroes and redeemed villains moving between the spheres of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, calling neither place home. These powered individuals live in shades of grey, and facilitate the trading of goods and services in secret between the two worlds.

The other is not quite such common knowledge. Out of nowhere, Wentworth’s has gained access to new suppliers, but all suspicions and investigations have been stymied by the immaculate paperwork of their new partners. Likewise, the Black Market has suddenly seen a rise in activity, though no one has looked too closely at the ‘why’ so long as the goods are solid. For now, it remains a mystery.

Hmmm....

Sad, but not surprising. My hero characters will never use the market again.

Like I've said earlier, I don't tend toward playing the market mini-game. As a rule I slot what drops, but occasional I want to use the market to get a specific piece of salvage or something, especially with the intro of the temp combat powers. On blue side, that tended to be difficult at best, but at least on red side it could be done more times than not. This change - and I truly hope to be proven wrong - is going to benefit a specific group of players to the detriment of all the others.

I think the devs have based this idea solely on "ease of maintainability" with little regard towards the player base as a whole.

But that's just me. I guess we'll see when the dust settles in September or Novemeber.
Too much wrong nonsense in this to fix.

I have no idea why somebody would yell and scream. I just know that they will do it. Something changed; therefore somebody is upset.

Going to take some time to stop thinking in binary terms.
You know, while the answer itself may have been somewhat spelled out already...
Your question made me realize that awesome aspect of the merger.
Being able to use the BM or WW with Rogues and Vigilantes.
It just seems like a cool thing to me, beyond the simple convenience of not having to go back and forth.

Would you either PM me your justifications or post them here? I'm very curious.

Trading volume on the red side tends to be so low relative to liquidity on the blue side for most items that I'm not sure your hero characters would even be able to notice the difference in the long run. Its the red side characters that are much more likely to notice, although I'm sure there will be some exceptions to that general rule.

I'd guess RP issues with stolen/illgotten goods.

On topic: Yay market merge!

While I'd love to take credit for this, it's actually a weird thing that some kooky people call "supply and demand".
