Important System Improvements in Going Rogue

MEH.
For me, the real (and extremely minor) downside of the merger is the loss of smuggling, which was bandied about for a while (since the merketign survey some years ago). I think I would have enjoyed a little smuggling back and forth.

Isn't that what Vigilantes and Rogues are technically doing anyway.

I think its likely just as difficult, but that something about setting up a 3rd(maybe 4th if resistance/loyalists?) market or whatever as a seperate system for Praetoria was even more difficult.

My markets are getting merged, bizzlenitches. |
Actually, that would be pretty sweet.
Also, your your decidedly unusual phrases confuse and frighten me. I am not sure that I would qualify as a "bizzlenitch".
Finally, YAY for Market Merge!

God. You remember when they added the cape as a costume piece?
You're wrong and like many other naysayers will be proven wrong by the merger.
Prices will hit their equilibrium, marketeers will still make money as they always have, and everyone will have better access to goods. Some prices will go up, some down. I imagine that heroes will have somewhere to sell all those pet recipes now, villains all that salvage that goes to waste. This will make lowbie characters on both sides money. Those that bother to post their stuff will do well. All will be right. The fools who claimed that loot would ruin the game were wrong; The idiots who claimed that side-switching would ruin the game were wrong; The madmen who claimed flashbacks would ruin the game were wrong. I've was for all these changes. Loot and Flashbacks have become beloved features and I'm sure that side-switching will as well. Strangely, I expect this market merger to simply fade into the consciousness of the game. Folks will come to believe that this is how the game always should have been. All will be right. |

Are Influence and Infamy being combined as well?
Yes, that's what this thread is about.

Q: Are the currencies being renamed, or will they still be called infamy and influence? A: We will not be renaming influence or infamy. On your character ID cards, we will be changing the appearance of Influence, Infamy and Information to INF. |
Its probably safe to assume that, barring some change in intent on the part of the devs, that Influence and Infamy are essentially being unified mechanically. Conceptually, they'll remain different things, but they will be one to one interchangable, and everyone will have a single basket of INF (War Witch says as much in her second post in the thread when discussing the conceptual backstory for the change).

Based on the FAQ, yes. While they'll still be called different things when you're in Paragon, RI, it's all just INF.
There's also this thing called "information" in the FAQ.

New question: will Rogues and Vigilantes be able to use either market due to this change?
One of the big reasons given for that was because a market merge would disrupt all sales that were in-progress at the time. It looks like they finally decided that they'd have to bite that bullet and let it happen. A bit of a gutsy move by whomever authorized it. I predict that, come GR, there will be much yelling and screaming from players who missed the announcements. No way to avoid that.

This has to be the first time in six years I've seen four people answer the same question four different ways at exactly same time. You'd think this was something interesting like NCSoft announcing Desdemona figurines shipping with Gamestop preorders.

I had sticker shock when I returned to the game, but it is SO easy to sell drops, craft recipes for millions in profit, that I can usually afford every night to either buy a couple set IOs outright (if I'm lazy/in a hurry) or buy the recipe, jump in the base portal and craft it.
i too am glad they are making the game better. and everyone is happy about this.
however i dont want to be a stick in the mud, but how i see the merger things will go sky high. that only the rich can afford. i have a hard time getting rare io slavage at 3 mil now itll go upwards of 10 mil or higher. and recipes that go for 5-10 mil go for 20 mil or higher. im not saying this to be anti merger, im just pointing out what might/will happen. does that mean ill not go to the market no but itll give me pause. to go there. these are just my thoughts. im glad yall that wanted a merger got it. im with ya on that. now for beinging able to give things to villians or heroes thats a great move. and im happy about that. |
I spend maybe 15 minutes total (per character) crafting and selling drops, vendoring crappy recipes, and putting reasonable bids in for the salvage/recipes I want. Next time I log in on that character, I check what's been sold/bought, then go play. When I get ready to log out, I just hit the market again.
Since everything will be together, its irrelevant where you access the market now, no? The only advantages Rogues and Vigilantes have over the Heroes and Viallains is that they have more trading spots (Atlas Park, Kings Row, Steel Canyon, Talos Island, Mercy Island, Port Oakes, Cap au Diable, St Martial)... and maybe one or more zones in Praetoria, unless Praetoria has a different market system or something... or maybe none at all.
