  1. My rockin' Rad/Fire runs both auras at pretty much all times. I used to be polite sometimes in lacklustre teams or wacky situations like certain rooms on the LGTF and stuff and turn off Hot Feet because sometimes the fear could be more trouble than it's worth when people don't know how to deal with it. But, then I realised that the combo of Rad's def debuff and all the DoT flying everywhere makes mobs have the tendency to ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunawaaaaay anyway if they don't all die in the initial assault (99% of the time). And the added damage was way too sexy.

Then again he is S/L softcapped, perma-Hasten, with Cardiac Alpha (and runs about 8 toggles). If he ever has endurance dips still (i.e. End drain mobs), Consume fills the brief hole. For mobs with mezzes I know he isn't protected from, like any enemies with Dominate and such, pre-emptive breakfrees are still required.
  2. All my support toons with no built in Ally Rez keep [Revive Ally] with at least a few charges.

I usually prioritise keeping [Day Trader Teleporter] or the Enhanced version once the badge is complete full on all toons once I am done/bored with Day Jobs. I find it extremely useful because I am way too lazy to walk/base/tram it to Steel Canyon and Kings Row most of the time due to no Ouro exit. Not to mention half the time I logout at WW anyway due to marketing addiction!

The rest I just find too fiddly (I'm looking at you Autopowers with timelimits) to bother with on non-badgers.
  3. Yep, and what can be quite good (or annoying) for a giggle is that it completely acts as if you are a regular enemy, so buffs and debuffs affect it all well and good. Go stand under a few Longbow nullifier -Res debuffs or somesuch and then use it after whacking Build Up. I have attended many tea parties with the Grim Reaper following silliness like this.

I have a thread on how it seems to be working here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=236107

To make matters worse the initial damage is also considered Autohit on your character - there is no escape!

Glad to see it's getting fixed soon.
  4. Cole went to fight Hamidon as a true hero does.

    Sadly, Hamidon defeated/trapped/absorbed Cole.

Hamidon saw the potential for survival/tyranny and is now acting as new!Cole to keep the anthro types contained.

Outside the sonic barriers Hamidon keeps the immense Devouring Earth populace of Praetorian Earth entertained by having them tune in daily to observe Nova Praetoria et al on a phone-in reality TV show and decide on its/our fates.

Call 1800-555-LYST to vote Loyalist and evict Interrogator Kang.

Level 50 Primals will break in to Praetoria and expose/defeat Hami!Cole in an epic raid to earn Temporary Powers, magenta coloured reward salvage, and rescue the true Cole from its grasp. The same Cole who is currently reserved to a life of watering Deathblossoms and fetching carbonated water for the camera crew of Mother Mayhem's late night Tarot Reading and softcore entertainment network.
  5. So I have a few of these old 53 HOs banging around from times of goo from long ago. Along with a few other various sparkly 52 and 53 trinkets and wonders from days gone by.

I'm stumped though, what the heck would the value of these things be? In-game prices were kind of all over the place before the history wipe.
  6. Ah! Very good point. The Burn patch is not able to miss me, it is flagged as Autohit. My combat log reads as follows, assuming my character is 'bestcharacterever':

    Quote:
    You activated the Burn power.
HIT bestcharacterever! Your Burn power is autohit.
bestcharacterever HITS you! Burn power was autohit.
You burn the ground underneath you, freeing you from Immobilize effects!
bestcharacterever burns you with their Burn for 170 points of fire damage!
You burn bestcharacterever with your Burn for 170 points of fire damage!
The power IS able to miss on enemy mobs however. This is what leads me to believe that the bug may have something to do with how Burn is applying its Immobilization protection.

I have also sent screenshots of the UI in action reporting this with correct data to the powers that be.
  7. Buggerall, I just made a topic about the Blaster Burn issue without seeing this topic. I have tested to see how it's working and it seems to be working as follows:
    • It does the initial new front-loaded damage to my character upon use.
    • It does the initial new front-loaded damage to enemies caught within it's radius.
    • It does NOT then do the following DoT damage to my character. It DOES do the additional DoT damage to surrounding enemies.
    • It still frees me from Immobilization effects (I think this is probably where the bug lies).
    • It is still applying its defiance buff correctly.
    • Upon it's use I register a Power Icon for burn featuring the same numbers as the power itself does when "info'd". However in this one the front-loaded damage number is halved.
    • When surrounded by 5 enemies or more (new!Burn's target cap) the self damage does NOT reliably occur (sometimes, sometimes not). Any less than 5 enemies within its radius or none at all leads me to take damage.
    • Verified to be occurring on other Blaster characters with different Primary powersets.
    • The damage applied to the player character is affected by outside damage buffs (Build Up, Aim, etc).
    • The damage applied to the player character is affected by damage resistance variance.
    • I am able to kill myself with overuse of the power.

I can also completely confirm your second bug as I just bugged it ingame myself. I just switched my Blaster's alignment to villain today and completed a Patron arc. Upon completion I immediately respecced. I was granted the (working) Frenzy power once the respec was complete with no wait time.
  8. Short: The newly updated Burn power in the Blaster secondary Fire Manipulation is hurting my player character upon use. This is not occuring with other versions of the power.

Long and juicy: new!Burn is great. Heart-warming even. But the thing is Burn within the Blaster secondary Fire Manipulation is hurting my character upon use:
    • Verified to be occurring on other Blaster characters with different Primary powersets (Rad/Fire in my case).
    • The damage applied to the player character is affected by outside damage buffs (Build Up, Aim, etc).
    • The damage applied to the player character is affected by damage resistance variance. Standing under a few resistance debuffs from friendly Longbow, I was able to whack myself for over 600 points of damage in the kisser.
    • I am able to kill myself with overuse of the power (quite humorous).

I love new Burn, I really do, but I don't know if my heart can take this kind of fiery passion.

EDIT: Here is an example of how the combat log reads, using my sensational bestcharacterever:

It would appear the initial damage is being applied to player characters as Autohit. It IS possible for it to miss on enemies though.

Also there's plenty of places to PVP already and they aren't used much so it's a waste of resources even if doable.
Is this really true for the Arena though? Last time I was gambling my cat's life savings away I was pretty sure there were Arena terminals in the Golden Giza of St. Martial, not to mention the ones I encountered whilst getting jiggy in Pocket D.
  10. Scorpion Shield over Frozen Armor makes me clutch my pearls.

Sexy purple aura S/L def shield in one power pick over unflattering hip expanding cyber-ice blocks combined with a side order of Snow Storm or Flash Freeze? Shaking and crying right now.
  11. I like redside in concept. I like redside writing. I like redside costumes (arrr garrrr grrrr and all that). I like redside ATs even more than I like tickling defenders with swan feathers. I just never play it. Why?

    NO BLUE SKIES!

Praise the almighty spandex lord and Mother Mayhem's Mammoth Multiple Mammories for Praetoria allowing blue skies for villains!
  12. Praise jeebus for a sequel.

I love this game, I really do. I have BACKALLEYBRAWLER tattooed across my third eye and fouth inner chakra. But the truth is that the biggest thing that holds it back is the old Cryptic engine. Despite all the best efforts everything has to be built around a higgled jumble of an engine and how often do you hear cries of "the engine won't let us" rather than "we don't want to do it". There's an awful lot of development time that goes towards first preparing/renovating the old code to even accept the new stuffs. I can't help but think that with a new slate the rather friendly devs and War Witch with all her hand gestures would run rather rampant.

I mean that may all be poppycock as my coding knowledge is absolutely nul points from the Danish ambassador but I can't help but feel that whole steam powered furnace of squirrels that is COH doesn't seem very user friendly to enhance.
  13. I delete 50s all night long. In fact I'm pretty sure the amount of 50s I have left is somewhat 30A compared to the 36DD trash bin that is my deleted 50s pile. I've even rerolled my 'mains' about three times each and am tempted to do so again for one of them come GR. I am pretty much addicted to rerolling and it's only a matter of minutes until the doctors come to pull the delete key needle from my veins.

I have little interest in keeping around characters if I never ever play them - even worse when they are saddled with valuable Inventions or sexy costumes that just collect dust. I am not a badger in any sense, striped or otherwise. Some folks get rerolled with the same names/costumes but better fitting powers conceptually (or they've been somewhat saddened through nerfing) because I hate to see good style go to waste. I routinely pull Purples and Inventions and refit them elsewhere and if anything the value/challenge of XP in the game has become less and less that the prospect of 'getting to 50 again' equates to little time at all even with casual play compared to what it once was. Blueside? Run the main Freedom Phalanx TFs with the odd kettle of Katie/Hess/Moonfire and you are pretty much there with a crapton of merits, top off with an ITF to taste.

In truth I actually look to make characters I enjoy playing at 50 with PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER (even if I have to exemplar!) much more than grinding out to level 50 and just shelving them, after 5+ years I find little joy in huffing through the teens and twenties with no endurance and not enough slots. The majority of 50s that I haven't deleted or rerolled are the ones that always get an outing in their groovy togs and I love playing them on hard tasks (Kins, Rads, Colds, incredibly haxxing IO'd Blasters etcetera).
  14. Yup. Combustion out, Burn in on my Rad/Fire. Mass pant wetting and applauding populace ensues. And now with the ability to take Scorpion Shield rather than the ugly Ice Armor, ho ho ho indeed!

Not to mention Consume was also tweaked so it no longer cries in the shadow of Power Sink or a wet fish quite as much as it did.
  15. I have one. Originally I planned for a Cold/DP Defender but went Corr after having a funny out of body experience in a field which featured dinky orange numbers scourging everywhere.

At first I wasn't sure it would mesh too well due to Cold being a bit active with debuffs and everything but it's actually turned out fine and dandy. And let's face it, Cold would be a bag of spectacular heebiejeebies even if you paired it with a 3 legged donkey.

Once the shields (take them or I shall cry tears of frozen broken hearts) are applied and in between Sleet throw downs you get some good mileage out of the AOEs for 4 minutes once you learn how to position yourself for Empty Clips and when to use Hail of Bullets (hint: after Sleet for orange number overload). I find it to be a total team toon rather than a solo dancefloor stunner no matter how I build it. On AVs and their sisters you should throw in Piercing Rounds on Lethal Ammo which makes sweet love with all the Cold -Res and just cycle it among Pistols/Dual Wield or whatever. I found Executioner's Shot too much of a killjoy damage/activation/OMGROOTED wise to keep it, and didn't bother with Supressive Fire. I basically live the street corner life of an AOE HP chipper on large groups of mobs and then roll out the Piercing Rounds and Cold sexiness for any hard single targets. In between that there will always be a buff/debuff you can apply.

I mainly use Fire ammo (or Toxic when I feel like being a home-wrecking hussy) all the way, but I can see how Cold would make your butt not look so huge in those pants concept wise and stack nicely if -Rech is your aim. I find most teams I join with any /Cold toon just become steamrollers so having a bunch of added -Rech pales in comparsion to adding to the KILLFASTER.

Don't forget your Achilles High Heels proc in Sleet.

  16. Going Rogue was full of surprises, but nothing could prepare Matt and David for the Ambient Occlusion flavoured doughnut they received as a pre-order bonus.

  17. SHAKING AND CRYING RIGHT NOW

Thank you, oh mighty digitizers of spandex :')
  18. TheOcho was well aware of the consequence of humming the Miami Vice theme tune in the presence of Resistance members, but the temptation was becoming just too much to bear (again).

  19. Whilst the effort behind the Winter Horde's latest campaign to tackle Paragon's CO2 emissions was admirable, there was no denying that the theme of "SeeSnowToo" would prove to be a grave error as dawn quickly approached.

  20. Ooops. Well stone me. My search fu is weak. Thanks for the link.

Seems the debate got rather heated too with the flames of angerdom and badge rage and stuffs. Maybe I should just let this one fizzle out.
  21. Please note that this is [u]not[u] a suggestion for [u]new[u] accounts to be able retroactively purchase Veteran Rewards.

    [u]The short:[u]

<ul type="square">[*]I've had a CoX account since June 2004.[*]Between then and now, I have had to deactivate my account a few times due to real life factors (work, money, alien invasions etc)[*]Would it be possible to make the time 'missed' retroactively purchasable? It wouldn't even have to award the appropriate game play time - I just want the shiny Vet prizes![/list]
    [u]The Long:[u]

So yeah, I've had a CoX account since June 2004. Due to all sorts of real life factors I have had to sadly click the big red deactivation button between then and now. As such my total 'paid for' time is somewhere between two and three years and my Veteran Reward time chart is all sorts of a mess. Upsetting stuff.

Is there any way it would ever be possible for me to purchase the game time 'holes' and acquire the Veteran Rewards that I would of accumulated in this time? I am not even asking to purchase the appropriate 'game time' this would supposedly earn me. Just cash for shinies.

I mean really, all this truly is is me offering to throw money at the dev organ grinders in exchange for a few swanky badges that I would have otherwise 'paid for' by now. I consider myself one of those kooky 'vet' types and have always followed the game's progress while inactive. Absence, hearts, fondness, all that.

The time I have missed would pretty much cashwise equal in excess of $300. Even if folks in a similar situation were able to purchase small amounts of this at a time, it just seems like money for old rope.
