I feel so dirty...
i dont like deleting 50s, but i will if i really didnt care for them too much, to my memory, ive prolly deleted about 2-4 lvl 50s so far because i didnt really like them all that much
i usually dont worry about deleting 50s cause most toons i really dont like i delete before lvl 30

I delete 50's all the time. I have a personal rule of having only 1 of each AT per server, so there have been cases where I want to roll a Controller, but I already have a Controller, so I have to strip/delete the old one before creating the new one.
It's not exactly a pleasant process, but it helps me keep sane from altitis, and gives that much more importance to the characters that do survive.
I've never deleted anyone over 24. Unless I had filled all possible slots I cannot see deleting a 50. That's too much time spent to just throw it all away.
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
I think I've deleted three lv50's, but it's not like I don't have a whole gallery of them anyhow ;p
I currently have 4 50s. Had a PB at 50 and deleted him without much fanfare. Cuz.. well, PBs suck. I also deleted my main brute at 50 because EM/FA sucks. He's now a level 50 DM/WP brute. Don't much care for the lack of AoE. Might delete him again someday.
Be well, people of CoH.

Closest I ever came was a lvl 45 DB/FA brute. /FA and I didn't get along at all.
There is a lvl 50 brute I have (EM/WP) that isn't performing very well for some reason lately, and is not as much fun as my EM/SR stalker, so he may or may not get replaced. Only time will tell...
Half mine (5 or so) I dont play anymore. But they are IO'd up and respecing it all out would be too much work. So until I max out on slots, I couldnt be bothered.
I feel your pain... When the game comes out with a new feature that makes me consider changing the rules of the way *I* play the game in a major way... I delete my characters too..
All of them...
No matter how high a level they are...
The worst I've been hit by this was 32 characters over 10 servers ranging from 10th to 50th level.

I always think it's funny when people tally up how many 50s they have and they end up with a double digit number. I only have two 50s (one hero, one villain) after about 4 years of playing. . I'm sure that's more than a good number of people too.
So in short, no, I've never deleted a 50.
I've deleted three. Two I did so to remake them, and another I plan to remake once the feeling comes along.
I feel the need to do so sometimes because the way I play, make builds, earn experience, design costumes and write backstories is all constantly evolving. Plus, these particular three got to fifty before their time, I feel. Two are my first hero and villain fifties, both of which I stopped caring for around forty, but rushed the last bit for EATs. The other level-pacted with a friend and it all went just too fast.
The remade characters now sit comfortably with their new lives at around level thirty. I'm in no hurry to finish them, and I'm enjoying myself more.

After a year of playing and sixteen characters, my highest level character is 45, and most of the rest are in their upper 20s or lower 30s. I've toyed with the idea of "killing" one or two (might make for a good AE arc). But you know how death and comics work, so I can't see myself deleting any of them, ever. I even paid for one more character slot, after a much-desired name became available.
The reason is probably the way I approach the character creation process. There are a dozen character concepts saved in my Character Creator, and some of those concepts sat around for a year before coming to fruition. The look, feel, origin story, personality and purpose of the character are what makes or breaks it. While some power sets are really awesome, most of my heroes are fun to play because of WHO THEY ARE, whether or not their power sets are impressive.

This might sound like some sort of high treason or blasphemy, but I have flirted with deleting my lvl 50 Fire/Kin. He was fun to play, but I haven't touched him in months aside from logging in to give him the animated lizard tail, and to move him around for Day Jobs and so that he doesn't look too unused in the SG he's in.
And to top it off, I still have 4 more slots (5 after GR) on that server and have yet to buy any.
I only VERY RARELY delete anything, and haven't deleted anything in about three years. I was very happy to see the free transfers this winter, though. Did a lot for opening up slots on Victory while leaving the characters for "in case I ever want to" (I often play on whim like that) on other servers.
Of course, getting a character to 50 in three weeks would be absolutely unheard of for me (usually it's about 1 1/2 - 2 years), so I'm not exactly in a position to say how I'd feel about deleting such a character. I'm usually well-invested by the time they hit 20, let alone 50.
Dec out.
I can't even remember how many 50s I've deleted.

Only ever deleted one 50 for pretty well the same reason as the OP... went from 20 to 50 in a DXP weekend back after the RWZ revamp and realised that I hated it, so it went.

Highest character I've ever deleted was 39, for reasons of redundancy. But then again if I'm not enjoying a character by 22/SOs, I don't keep them.
I don't necessarily play all of my 50s a whole lot, but I know when I do, I'll enjoy it.
Got a few level 50 toons that I don't play any more and I am highly unlikely to play again. But I can't yet bring myself to delete. When the free transfers came along I moved them to another server, but even then I moved one back because it was my first tank to 50. I still have slots available so until they fill up they are probably safe-ish.

I actually played all 53 of my 50s to get there, so feel an attachment to them and won't delete them even if I don't play them. The free server moves at Christmas allowed me to make some space on the servers I actually play on atm. I have 170+ toons on one account, and would love to use some of my extra slots on Victory, but I have 36 in use there.
The highest toon I deleted was a mid 30s dark/axe tank which just wasn't working, so I remade him as dark/SM and that worked much better.
Another period of free server moves around GR would be really useful, otherwise I'm not going to be able to really create any praetorian toons on my main server.

I've never deleted a 50, but I've had the urge to do it quite a few times. In the end I've never been able to do it, though. The two prime candidates have been my MA/Regen and PB who pretty much suck compared to my other characters. I like having multiple characters because usually character A is better than B at something and vice versa, but in the case of MA/Regen and PB, they weren't better at anything so I don't really like playing them.
Should probably add, I have 21 or 22 level 50 characters.

What about you guys? Who's at the point now where a level 50 character doesn't have special status just because of that, and should they find one they don't like, may actually delete it?

Of course, I could say it's "hours" away and just leave off the fact that it happens to be (roughly) 175 hours (assuming maintenance ending at Noon Eastern Time on the 17th).

Deleted one 50. My first character, Invul/EM tanker. Got to 50 and then the EM nerf came along. (Sorry, I still view it as a nerf for tankers) Ripped out all his sets over a few respecs, transfered all the inf, salvage and recipes, etc etc.
Then deleted him.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

After 4 yrs and some months of actual playing, i only have 7 50's - 2 hero, 5 villains and even now thinking of del'n another 50..i dont play it much so we'll see.
Though i've had..i think 14-16 50s over my time but if i dont play them as much as i thought i would or find them boring i kill them..

I deleted one of my 50s. On purpose. It was a standard issue "I never play with this and never will again, and don't even like the way it plays, so I'm deleting it" scenario, but still... I deleted one of my 50s. On purpose.
Level 50 characters kinda started with a bit of special status, since, you know... they're level 50 characters. But after accumulating a fair number of them, it didn't seem so special anymore, and deleting a character that wasn't all that entertaining anyway no longer seemed like such an unspeakable evil.
The thing basically got to 50 in three weeks with its eyes closed, but the amount of effort I put into it was, oh, maybe level 31 due to those couple of Strike Forces I ran...
