I feel so dirty...
I've deleted a level 50 before. These days, I don't get a character to 50 in the first place unless I really enjoy playing them, so once they get there, they're pretty safe.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
I always think it's funny when people tally up how many 50s they have and they end up with a double digit number. I only have two 50s (one hero, one villain) after about 4 years of playing.

Never really tried Warshade past level 8, so I rolled up a new one and got invited to a team yesterday, which happened to be in The Hollows. It was a group of inexperienced players, and while I was the only Kheldian there, it reminded me of a different PuG a couple weeks ago: I was on a team with an Arachnos Soldier who was doing the aura mission for the first time ever.
"Man," I said to myself, "just because I'm a Warshade doesn't necessarily mean anymore that I'm experienced. I've deleted more 50s than these guys have even seen!"

Highest character I've ever deleted was a Dark/Elec Defender who finally got the axe at 33. An auto-bump-to-50 on the Test server at the time showed me that I still wouldn't like Electric Blast, so she got rerolled as a Dark/Rad. I have deleted other characters in the high 20s and one at 30, for various reason.

I don't use my 50 villain either (DB/Nin stalker), but no way would I delete her.
I've never deleted a 50 level.. too much time, effort and energy invested and I do still pull them out and run TFs, etc with friends.. "What do you need? Oh I have two of those I'll switch and BRB"
I did do a bit of soul searching and deleted a few characters in the 40s recently to clear spots for arrival of Going Rogue next week .. and even THAT was painful but like you mentioned they were sitting a 40, 41 or whatever and because I had other characters I liked more all they were really doing was sitting in one day job location after another collecting badges and accolades. /e sniffs I miss them but will enjoy the new characters I create in Praetoria more. LOL

Nope can't bring myself to delete a 50. Sooo...the character transfer went a long way in letting me make some room on the server I play on.
I just can't bring myself to do it. I may find a reason to play them again, if I find a concept I like for them, better than the one they did.
My fastest level 50, was done in 5 days...but that was because I pretty much made it, played it for a few days before the double XP started and then really went to town with it. Basically my goal was to see if I could get to 50 from DP's early release for pre-purchase and by the end of Double XP weekend.
In fact, I'd say it's one of my favorite toons (DP/MM), now only if it fit the concept I had for it (DP/MM fits perfectly, but the squishiness doesnt).

I've deleted/rerolled many characters, but none above 30.
One part is that some powersets and concepts are not as fun for me as expected.
The other thing is that I try not to have more than one character with the same concept or powerset. At this time, with 25 characters, the only powerset I have more than one of is fire blast and I will probably reroll one of those when a new corruptor primary (not pistols, already have those) comes out.
I do not suffer from altitis, I enjoy every character of it.
I haven't deleted a 50 yet but I am strongly leaning towards it with my Grav/Psi Dom...just so...bad....
No relation to Arachnos!
Part Pack: Now the majority of players know how we, PvPers, have felt for years now. Don't want to be so "civil" now that you have been completly ignored, do you?
It appears that deletion of a 50 is in direct proportion to the need to clear a slot on the Server in question.
I just do not have enough heroes for lack of slots to ever be a consideration. I have 10 lvl 50s now, with 3 more teetering on the brink, and I would never think of deleting them. I leveled them up pretty much on PUGs, although I have lately joined some SGs that are very active and friendly and have never failed to have a good time with my SGmates. One of my 50s was an Earth Superteam and while he hit 50 probably the fastest of all of them, it still took about 6 months or so.
My heroes all have backstories, though most are not particularly elaborate, and each is different to play. I like them all. I would not enjoy deleting any of them, and I sympathize with those that have deleted any Heroes of the City.
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
What about you guys? Who's at the point now where a level 50 character doesn't have special status just because of that, and should they find one they don't like, may actually delete it?

But going back to 'never'; I always try and build a coherant character when I start out so no matter what their 'power' ends up as, whether they do 1-50 in 2 weeks or 2 months (or 2 years like my first), they always have a strong backstory to fall on. So my 50s, all of my 50s have a special status that endures once the game is 'over' for them.

Yeeeeeah.... umm... in honor of Going Rogue... and the ... er... changes involved in it...
::sighs::
I'm deleting all my characters again.
And no, you can't have all my stuff... I'm selling it all.
Let's see... a week until Going Rogue goes live... hmmm... yeah... I think I can get all my spreadsheets revamped and ready to go by then.
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
Deleted one lv50 Brute, for reroll/name/concept reasons when Willpower came out, which fitted her much better. In hindsight, should have bought a rename or transfer, since the reroll stalled at 22 for various reasons. I do still have a copy of her on Test though.
If I take a character to 50, I am usually attached to them. Not only gameplay wise, but they have their little stories, a concept, a small history. I don't think I could delete them, even if nearly all of them don't get any playtime except Sunwind.
well, with about 10 50's on the board, from playing for over 4 years, I think i only have 1 lvl 50 schedualed for the big delete. My Emp/Elec Defender. It really only got to 50 via people crying out 'we need a healorz' since it hit 50 i haven't touched it basically, i've respecc'ed it several times and am unable to find something I like. He is slowly being replaced by a mind/emp i have on the same server.

I don't play him often, but will never delete him as that weekend is a very fond memory. I was basically the tank on a kat/fire scrapper.

I've deleted 2-3 50's but then again I have about 20 and only play 3-5 of them anyways.

Same, except that I only have the two (one Hero one Villain) after SIX+ years. I don't play them but I won't delete them.

I've got three level 49's just a bubble or so each from level 50. And I'm holding off getting them to 50 because when I get a char to 50 I usually stop playing them regularly. By the time I get a character to 45 or so I start turning XP off to make those last 5 levels last as long as possible.
Never deleted a lvl 50, but I did delete my level 47 DM/Elec scrapper and 46 Sonic/Psy blaster. For me, DM had too little AoEs, (I LOVE AoEs) AND /elec felt super squishy. It got to the point where it became a chore to play with him. My blaster was well, meh. I just had no idea what to do with him; for crying out loud, I hadn't even made a backstory for him simply because I couldn't think of a concept. Do I regret it? Nope.
Deleted them and made a WP/Mace tank whose actually a Judge that feels he's not doing enough to help the city; so he dons a tech suit, a giant gavel, and goes to town. Not only do I love his concept, but he's really fun to play.

i have 25 lvl 50's..i dont play them all. but that doesnt mean ill delete them either. they just stay shelved.
no real reason to delete a 50 with game ending content coming soon down the road. might be someday youll want that 50 more then a lvl 2 alt you made on an idea.

Same here. Although I do have an arrow/arrow defender stuck at 46, that only got there by force of will, that I really just don't like and never did. We'll see what happens.

I delete 50s all night long. In fact I'm pretty sure the amount of 50s I have left is somewhat 30A compared to the 36DD trash bin that is my deleted 50s pile. I've even rerolled my 'mains' about three times each and am tempted to do so again for one of them come GR. I am pretty much addicted to rerolling and it's only a matter of minutes until the doctors come to pull the delete key needle from my veins.
I have little interest in keeping around characters if I never ever play them - even worse when they are saddled with valuable Inventions or sexy costumes that just collect dust. I am not a badger in any sense, striped or otherwise. Some folks get rerolled with the same names/costumes but better fitting powers conceptually (or they've been somewhat saddened through nerfing) because I hate to see good style go to waste. I routinely pull Purples and Inventions and refit them elsewhere and if anything the value/challenge of XP in the game has become less and less that the prospect of 'getting to 50 again' equates to little time at all even with casual play compared to what it once was. Blueside? Run the main Freedom Phalanx TFs with the odd kettle of Katie/Hess/Moonfire and you are pretty much there with a crapton of merits, top off with an ITF to taste.
In truth I actually look to make characters I enjoy playing at 50 with PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER (even if I have to exemplar!) much more than grinding out to level 50 and just shelving them, after 5+ years I find little joy in huffing through the teens and twenties with no endurance and not enough slots. The majority of 50s that I haven't deleted or rerolled are the ones that always get an outing in their groovy togs and I love playing them on hard tasks (Kins, Rads, Colds, incredibly haxxing IO'd Blasters etcetera).
I only have 2 50's, which is odd considering when I started playing. I usually find out whether I like them or not by their 20's.
I often get bored of characters in their low 40's, especially once the "They will get better once they get x power" rationale is no longer applicable and I have to face the truth.
I can't imagine deleting a 50 though, they only get there if I really love them ;-)
