Super Boost: Excuse for bad manners?

I have a ill/kin. Oh yeah I am addicted to speed period. Anything that can't give me more recharge and no end problems boyahh. That means my pets are perma that means my other buffs are stacked more. If I have another kin I sb them they sb me, even better is the fact that when my buff drops i know that other buffs are dropping.

At the begging of a map I ask who doesn't want SB, though sometimes I forget who was it that didn't want SB. I slot my SB with 3 slots of End mod that means any toon can spam away and never worry about end. I then SB every couple of fights. And if there is a stone tank in team I always keep his SB up period that is part of the job. I also tell people if the buff drops and i forgot to buff you please tell me and i will gladly buff you.

One nice thing about being ill/kin is that I don't have to do much for my primary if i don't want to. I just summon my pets then buff people and fulcrum. But I can also constantly be doing something too. With all that recharge I have slotted I am in a constant chain of my kin buffs.

SB is a insanely good buff for others for you it doesn't do much other then making your team have less issues. The only problem I have ever noticed is that people on crappy computers can't stand the run speed boost or they will crash. Yes I understand that and try to be as nice as possible. But here is one point for that. If you crash cause I SBed you cause you damn computer needs a upgrade. Upgrade your computer, it isn't that expensive. It drives me nuts when I hear someone on my team is playing on a netbook or playing on a old pentium3. Yes you can do it but don't do it it isn't worth it to play on that computer.

If you don't want to be asked for SB and expected to SB don't grab it. You don't have to SB as a kin unless that is one of your powers. If you have a power on any toon it means you can use it if needed, now is it slotted to be useful who says but it can be used.
I only think I have 1 and I repeat 1 toon that SB is a bad thing on. Otherwise if I get it I don't complain.

People still invite fire/kins to teams? On an off chance, do you use siphon speed? Are you generally the first to a spawn? Do you drop fulcrum shift at your willy nilly convenience?

Fire/Kins make excellent solo/farm toons, neato. When grouped, the advantage of have 7 people speed boosted (and yourself siphoned) is a far greater gain than losing your activity while boosting is a loss. Ditto for the bulk of your secondary >shrug< I'll take a FSed blaster over any 2 controllers anyday.

Kinetics is a ST buff set, it's a bummer, and it steers many people away from the set. Please also see therm, cold, FF, and sonic. When people broadcast "LF Kin for XXX" they are in fact looking for a buff set. It isn't poor manners for players to expect teamates to make the most of thier characters. As stated repeatedly, no one drops thanks on the tanks for taking point, only heroic heal efforts will gain a thanks, and it takes phenominal DPS to catch a Wow! Nice nuke!

I don't beg buffs or critique playstyles as a matter of course. If a team is having difficulty, and someone says "Player X, do you think you could use Power Y", and the response was "Only if you say please", I would look around for the "Kick" or "Quit" button.

Heh, whilst I can appreciate the OP's sentiment about being appreciated, saying thanks for every single SB or buff is getting borderline obsessive

Saying "nice work team" or "wow, we ripped through that lot quick" is a better way of dealing with it.

Threatening to kick or quit because of people not saying thank or please is a bit overboard, sometimes, you simply don't have time to type it out! I know I don't when I'm in full on blapper mode!

Srsly, chill, it's a game and it's meant to be a laugh, if you're enjoying the team, that's thanks enough, if you're not, time to move on, it's easily done, make a polite excuse and go off to find or make a new team, simple as!

If we stopped to thank everyone for every single power use we'd never actually get anything done. And honestly, I'd rather go without Speed Boost than feed the overstuffed ego of the arrogant knave who expects everyone to be beholden to him for deigning to gift them with his supreme power.

You know. This reminds me of the other day. I was running an ITF with a KIN. VG member Ive teamed with on occaission (not often as I neglect redside alot, because well...I lead my SG and I like being the hero ), and also a SG member who kept basically saying SB ME, SB NOW. Not once I did I see a SB PLZ.

So I sent her a message over steam, she should at least say please. Didnt help.

Some people are going to just be that way I guess.

When I played a KIN (they always got deleted up to or right after SB), mostly because...when I play one, I feel I should be keeping that SB up (if it was a 4 minute timer, I swear I could do it).

However, I always feel bad for the KINS who have to hear that all the time.

Of course, my hate for Stone Armor tanks who won't play without a kin has also grown. I mean really, you know the disadvantages of playing Stone Armor going in...

I'm sorry, but I hate this attitude. How do you know that?! Do you know how much everyone earns, what there out goings are? I played on a 4 year old lap top for 2 years cos I COULDN'T afford a new machine.

Can I ask you a question?

Good!

Why did you roll a kin?

There are several other just as potent for buffs that aren't as attention intensive.

Basically, what I'm saying is play your character the way you want it to be played.

However, I've kin'ed both villains and heroes and I like being the kin. when you are on an ITF, LRSF, STF, or either 5th Column TF's , being asked for SB every 90secs gets old. even with Please's and thank you's. I ask before we start you doesn't want SB make a note who said no and Try not to give it to them. I have a special bind file that I load for all my healers/buffers that lets me select my team members quickly and apply the buffs. It takes me less than 10 seconds to buff the whole team, that mean I get use my other powers for 80 seconds...i can usually get 2 or 3 full chains in between buff cycles.

I guess My point is people expect you to play the role you've chosen to play.

If your play style differs from the expected norm, inform your team of it and if they say okay, good. If it becomes an issue politely leave the team and move on. But don't complain that you can;t find a team or get kicked from team if you refuse to accept that sometimes there is not enough time to ask for a buff or say thank you immediately. You've chosen to play a control/support character. Sometimes you just do what you have to in the heat of a fight. Learn your role, and do it, if you are in the Kin for the thanks...you picked the wrong power.

@OP, I know better than to expect a Speed Boost from a Fire/Kin, notoriously bad players with no apparent use on a team.

When playing my Kinetics Defenders, I always throw out Speed Boost every time I see the buff dropping, but I don't demand that my teammates throw themselves to their knees and thank me orally. Flip side, if I get someone who doesn't like/want Speed Boost on my team when I'm leading, then depending on my current mood, I'll either laugh in their face, Speed Boost and then kick them, or simply just ignore em till they leave or the team breaks up and make a note of their global so I don't have the misfortune of inviting them again.

^This basically, my Plant/Emp doesn't expect thanks for casting Fort, the auras or AB as they pop up on whomever I think suits the best. Buffs are there to be used, i'd never shout at someone for letting a buff drop for a bit in the heat of battle but unless I specifically opted out of a buff (not that I ever have personally, all buffs are welcome, but I can certainly allow for others not liking certain aspects of some of them) I'd expect it to happen without me having to say please and thank you.

I will make comments on how awesome my character is with the buffs on them however (and will go *Squee* in team chat if my Combat Numbers are ridiculous because of them).

You... demand please and thankyou's to get SB? O.o

Of what good to you is a hollow thank you, when you have to extort it from someone? It isn't sincere. Seems to me all demanding please thankyou's for your serveces gives you is a since of control over your group... and why just SB? Why not demand the same thing for FS? Syphone power? Maybe charge for heals?

Hehe. I don't demand anything for my teammates other then they play the game to the best of there abilities. When a thank you happens, it's because it was sincere or a showing of "REAL" good manners, not because they feel forced to do it.

I hope everyone is as respectfull of your playstyle, as you are of everyone elses.

OP sounds like a troll.

On my fire/kin I try to recast SB as soon as the buff goes off. It's not hard.
Though I would really appreciate a buff to it's duration...

I've never asked to told someone to turn there shields on, but i have said, "hey, you know your shields are off..(i of course check before i ask to see if they even have them trained, if they do, then i "remind" them. If not, well, that answered my question now didn't it. ) most times i get a "doh!" thanks! as a responce. heh. only other responce i've ever gotten is, "they cost to much end", and that was in pre 20 content. No arguemtns there, i run without my shields at that level alot.

Now if they would say something like, "yep, i know, just don't like them much.. " or something... i'd.. leave it be i guess. never had it happen quite likethat... but yeah, i'd just leave them be. heh.

"please" and "thank you" do nothing for me.

That's why I started charging people 500k inf per speed boost. I made billions on this one 4 hour ITF I did I tell ya, hooray for bad teams!

I work minimum wage part time and you can get a decent computer for at max $200. The only expensive part is the operating system. You said laptop. You do realize that a desktop is over 1/2 the price of a laptop and way better quality. I get how people find me rude but I know how to build computers and do do it alot. What I hate when people use the exuse that it is too "Expensive", no it isn't. You just need to do some work and not get a premade computer. Also laptops are great for gaming. You have to sacrifice alot stuff. You sacrifice power, costs way more, and lifetime all to gain mobility. If you want a better computer then you old pentium3 find a tech savy guy that works on computers, he most likely will be upgrade his computer alot. Gather his old parts and build a machine. Gosh I have like 4 computers worth of old parts. I use 2 of the old computers as servers. And you don't need to buy nice stuff all at once, buy some then maybe a year latter buy those other parts you wanted.

On my Fire/Rad Controller I have advertised needing a team by stating, "Minions and LTs held for free. Boss characters negotiable."

Are you single? living at your parents for free without dependants? How can you know his circumstances compared to yours? Why not just accept that he couldn't afford a new rig? or perhaps laptops, although more expensive, are more convenient for him to get?

seriously.

do you ask for a heal everyone you need it ?
do you ask scrappers/blasters for Damage Powers ?

you roll'ed a SUPPORT char with BUFFs.
it's your role to buffs others, so if you don't want to play your role, play solo.

Good for you, you know how to build a computer, I don't, and as much as I would like to, I don't have the time to learn right now. And yes, I know a laptop isn't best for gaming, but it was the best option when I bought it.

I don't need a lesson on how to afford a new machine, I have one now. I was just saying that for the last 2 years I had other priorities and couldn't afford a new one. I wasn't ******** about having a bad machine, I would let my team mates know so they knew I would come back if it crashed, or if I had a long load, but accepted my situation. I just take offense at your attitude that anyone can instantly afford a new machine.

I have to say on alot of teams I've been on people tend to take being
boosted as a riight rather than a privalage and demand with out saying
thank you afterwards, worse is how some treat Defenders like they are
there only to Heal and Revive.

I try to all ways say thank you when any one give me a quick boost or buff
espechly for a heal and revive, I'm extreamly greatful when a Defender
who can do more than heal turns up since a proper Balanced Defender can
turn even the most hard core boss into a kitten in no time flat making it so
much more easier to take down or for me to be able to tank against.

But do they ever get thanks hell no just moaned at for not being a proper
defender becous they can't heal or revive, do they say thank you for
coming along and giving ahand when it was needed and being a proactive
part of the team?..No not in slightest.

Sorry for the rant but neede to get it off my chest since I feel the
Defenders who Buff and De-Buff get such a raw deal when they deserve
at least some measure of thanks for doing their part in a team.

I mean don't get me wrong we shouldn't have to ask since we should all
be working as a team like a cogs in a machine each turning and keeping
each other going smoothly but it dosen't hurt to say thank you when your
helped or given an insperation to revive your slef.
Even a Teleport to some where safe so you can Revive and Click Heal
befor getting ready for a nother crack at a tough mob.

Meh maybe it's just me, any way sorry again for the rant heh

Sorry for the rant. Although it may be a valid point it doesn't apply to everyone. And sorry I don't mean New I mean get a newer then anchient. I actualy suggest getting a used one. And no you arn't one that would make me mad. I wouldn't kick you for crashing. It just anoys me when people purposly buy a very basic computer and expect it to do better. And how much people don't understand how cheap it can be to buy a computer, prebuilt computer companies are rip offs big time. One of the schools around here uses the exuse of it is too much for computers and is trying to run windows XP on a low end pentium2, which can be done but you can't do much and expect it to take 30min for it to start up.

Again I am sorry for going off topic and ranting. To the OP stop being a jerk and high and mighty buff the guys. And to everyone else who is anoyed with "SB please" it could be worse try to buff them if you can and tell them to be patient with you. Being nice to each other is a great help to a team, and the biggest reason why I won't go back to WoW cause there player base doesn't care about each other.

Charging people for a buff which you shouldn't have to be reminded about in the first place is a great way to make new friends and get on peoples' good side, I tell ya. The simplest solution to the "SB PLZ" problem is to actually *gasp* keep SB on people. If you aren't willing to take the time to pass out one of the best buffs in the game, you're probably playing the wrong powerset.
