Sometimes, when enemies in front of you attack from range, the projectile animation plays as if someone had blasted you from behind; nothing like spinning around to fight a target that isn't there.

Is that a necessary evil or can that be fixed?

I posted this in Jays thread, but it carries over here.

Shifting the animation for crab spiders (or giving them another option) so that instead of the claws going over your head they can go down your back like a cape and then when you attack they wrap around you or under your arms. One of the few reasons I'm not crab right now is specifically because I don't like having four arms above my head. Admittdedly that'd make cutting my hair in the morning REALLY easy, but still it doesn't look good to me.

Also could there be a way where you remove the mace from the Bane spider attacks? Not like have your attacks become fist strikes, but if you put in the Crab arm guards (with the giant blades on the end) it could actually work without having a mace that you need to mess. Well, until you need a power blast but that just comes from your wrist!

That would have to be an option. It'd be silly to take away something that has been accepted as part of the VEAT for so long. I actually picked a Crab BECAUSE of the animation. Different strokes for different folks. :P

I'd really love to have the APP Water Spout animation available under Tornado for Defenders, Controllers, Masterminds...realize there are likely power/range/etc issues but one looks awesome and other looks...pudgy.

Speaking of options, how about alternative animations for Bane spider Build up, Surveillance and Placate with the machine gun instead of the mace for use by Huntsmen?
And perhaps add alternate animations to some of the wolf spider attacks that use the Crab/Bane weapons, again, to reduce redraw?

I know the devs have said they are against power customization for EATs, but in this case it should not be a problem as the alternate animations/weapons are already a part of the AT.


I do not suffer from altitis, I enjoy every character of it.

Still reading thread and preparing a more detailed response, but every one of these is worth doing.

Kickpuppy does run the risk of overtaxing the Villianside servers, though.

(PS - Think cartoon puppy, cartoon kick. It's the evocative action that'd rock, not the actual puppy-kickin'.)

Edit - Just to mention, I'd pay for an Emote Pack, with "a bunch" (say, 10-12) of emotes plus some costume-change emotes. And I bet I'm not the only one.

Alternate LRM animation, I really dont care for it when my guy pulls out a gun (be it the super soaker or otherwise), I'd really like to see a back pack type of launcher with multiple missles (ala' the Malta Titans) or maybe something sourced from the gauntlets like the mini missiles seen in IM1.

I would like to have the targeting drone animation usable for the Leadership pool. (Once we can change Pool powers that is.) I love that little drone. So here is what I'm thinking.

A blue light for Maneuvers
A red light for Assault
A Yellow light for Tactics
Or just a color tintable version like devices gets. (You can change the one in devices right?)


Option 1. The drone rotates around your head. (Same as current Targeting drone animation.)

Option 2. The Drone(s) floats over left shoulder.

Option 3. The Drone(s) floats over right shoulder.

Considering I use the emotes and costume change emotes more than the actual costume pieces from the booster packs, I would also go for this.

Still wanted: a smoking emote. I want my people to be able to stand around, flicking ash onto the ground in a bored fashion as they wait for the mission leader to get done with whatever. Before anyone else implodes in sheer horror, allow me to point out the following:

1. I play a lot of villains - and indeed, heroes - who do way worse things than smoke. I have characters who routinely rob banks! OMG, illegality! This to silence the "OH BUT THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"crowd. If you do not want your kids witnessing antisocial conduct, an MMORPG probably isn't the place for him or her.

2. This is an emote, used voluntarily. Anyone not wanting their people to smoke does not have to use it, much as I never use the "chicken dance" emote. To each their own.


PLUS! OMG, please. PLEASE! PLUS, could we pleeeeeaaaaase have an alternative Crab Spider Flight emote. I literally cannot stand that "nom-nom" motion the arms make as one flies.... looks so stupid, could the arms just lock in place as they do when one is gaining altitude?

I was advised to repost this here, as it's an animation/emote matter, so I'm reposting here:

I just found something which our characters are capable of doing which I would LOVE to see added to the game as a legitimate emote. In the editor, when you're editing your weapon and you zoom in, your character will do this:



Could we please, please, PLEASE have that as an in-game emote? That would be so cool for all sorts of weapon users!

This looks good could there also be a version where you nod your head as well? with a head nod it would be like a warriors salute. Also can we have the dual pistols and broad sword versions of this emote?

I love the emote on dual pistols (crossed across the chest) and claws (both held up, blades extended, although crossed over the chest would be awesome too)

the multi missles would get me to take it, even on characters who it wouldnt thematically fit, oldschool robotech fan here, and the multi missles would be great.

Alternatively, arms locked in a backwards/downwards position with thrust coming out of the business ends.

And to make this post productive, can the Thugs, Soldiers and Ninja Mastermind Henchmen get their original animations when being dismissed back? The death animations just don't make sense.

But can we make Assualt Rifle more..flashy, make it look more interesting/more fun to take.

As a bit of an expansion on my musings for weapon emotes I had a few things I wanted to suggest.

1. A way to keep our weapons out permanently or until we choose to put them away. Right now, if I draw a sword, it will time out and fade away after 10 seconds. I want to have the ability to keep my sword out as long as I want it without having to press a button every 10 seconds to prove I'm not asleep. One easy way I can see to do this is to just kill the fadeout timer. People can still put their weapons away by hitting the Escape key, and it adds a brand new functionality.

Basically, I want to be able to keep my sword out all the time like I can keep my shield out all the time. If this requires a toggle to accomplish, then I will accept that toggle.

2. More weapon emotes. Right now, we have none. In fact, our emotes put away our weapons entirely when we use them. What I'm suggesting is a few things. Firstly, the weapon-holding emote I posted before. As well, how about a few more, like flipping your sword like the various cops flip their billy clubs? Or how about that "tossing sword from hand to hand" emote from Taunt? Or even the "pointing with the sword" emote from the various taunts, as well. And, finally, how about a "putting weapon away" emote? I mean, seriously, we have animations for taking our weapons out, but we can even CHOOSE to animate putting them away. It'd be fun if we could.

3. Persistent weapons as character costume items. Say I put my big honking broadsword away. Could I have it show up as stuck to my back? I don't even want any clips or sheaths or anything. Just the sword stuck on my back will do. As I understand it, weapons are actually animated costume pieces which appear when needed and go transparent when not needed, so can't we have a copy of the sword on the back that's visible when the hand-held copy is faded and invisible when the hand-held copy appears? I would be willing to trade my back items for this if I had to.

Adding animated emoticon faces to BC/Local chat bubbles (with option to disable their view)

Adding status icons for crash effects of 'godmode' powers and other powers that have a negative crash effect duration

Adding another zoom-out layer to the mini-map (like most mmorpgs do); that shows the entire PC or RI overview map and its relation to your current position or zone (or the zones' relative position to each other)? (A 'macro' map as opposed to a 'micro' map)

This already exists. Look at the top right of your map and you'll see two tabs. The one you're using is Zone. The one tagged "City" does pretty much what you describe.

I'd like to see alternate stances for weapons, personally. Right handed katana, two handed swords and axes, and stances that arent just all boring carbon copies of the sword idle stance which, t'me anyway, isnt even that good. I dont think Id ever hold a sword like that, for starters.

And some assault rifle animations based on shortened version of sniper rifles 'bring to shoulder and fire' animation for Burst, slug and the others would be prime. I really hate the firing from the hip, which works fine in movies, works 0% in real life.

This is tragically impossible in the current engine to my knowledge, it was attempted when they gave katana its own animations, but it didn't work because ALL COMBAT STANCES IN THE GAME ARE LEFT SIDE FORWARD. I don't know why that's the case in the first place though...

This is, sadly, highly unlikely, as I believe BAB or Castle once commented that they don't like making two handed weapon animations and feel the reward is too small for such a large task.
Also, what is likely to further impede this from ever happening is that there's quite a few weapon customizations with the weapons you described that would only allow for one hand. I heard a second hand mention from someone that BAB's also stated you cannot have both Weapons Customization and Alternate Animations, but that's only hearsay.

This might be possible, but I think the sad fact is, I believe the animators try for the most visually interesting and diverse ways to make a power, and there's only so many different ways you can fire a rifle, and apparently, firing from the hip was ruled as cooler unless it was a formal sniper shot.

In short, I agree with everything you say AND would fight to the death your right to say it, but it all it means is just another voice echoing off to an empty hall or another martyr for a lost cause.
