What's the deal? Edit: Saw this in my Order History at gamestop.com: PREMIUM, CITYOFHGROGUE MOUSE P 1 0 $0.00 Pending N/A Meanin' my mousepad hasn't shipped yet. Still not sure what's up with the enhancements. |
Yeah .. what you said. Same exact situation here.
I had first done the pre-purchase (or whatever it's called) through the NCSoft site, as I wanted to mess w/the new powers & such early.
I like new shiny stuff , & the $$ wasn't a big issue... So when I saw the announcement here on 5/27 about the enhancements & such one would get pre-ordering through GameStop, I followed the links & placed my order early. (5/30 to be exact.)
Got an email from GameStop yesterday saying the game had shipped. It arrived safely today via UPS. (No mouse pad .. order shows it as 'pending')Applied code .. got the additional game time & such, but no enhancements.
To be honest, I didn't know anything about a mouse-pad & didn't remember seeing one listed in the promotion .. so I don't really care much about something I wasn't expecting anyway... But I would like the enhancements. Hopefully soon?
I couldn't find anything current on the GameStop site about the preorder stuff .. but that's likely because the pre-order promo is over. I did find this info on a cached page :
"Online Customers: A code and instructions on how to redeem your exclusive five exclusive character power enhancements will be emailed when the game releases. Razer Sphex City of Heroes desktop skin will ship with your game."
Guess I'll keep checkin' the email.

Just called Gamestop and they said the code and mousepad will be going out tonight.
I was soooo tempted to call back and see what answer I get next.
It was at least some level of comfort that the girl who answered had to go ask about it and didn't know the answer already.
Just checked my order status as it has reopened, and now I am seeing an order for one mousepad.

WooT! Just checked and my mousepad now has a tracking number. It's not updated with the UPS website yet, but at least it looks like they're getting them sent out today.

I can't create new characters tonight because I'd lose the items I'm supposed to have.
Very badly done, particularly the failure to notify customers.

I got mine today and now see the mousepad has tracking like others do. Didn't realize the enhancements weren't already included so I've already made my first toon. But as I just passed the tutorial, I guess he can sit as a name keeper till I can remake whenever I get my goodies. Very poor service on someone's part here.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
What the big thing that irks me is that we're getting freespecs doled out TOMORROW...
so.. my choices are.. make chars now so that I can have a freespec sitting on them. Or sit with my thumb up my posterior waiting until GS gets their kiesters in gear and get the codes out.

well some good news. Looks like they sent the mousepad 2-day air and it's supposedly on a delivery truck to my house. So should have all my goodies at last today. Still, there was definitely some kind of screw-up somewhere for them to not get the game and all it's preorder goodness together in one shipment.

We got everything at our Gamestop. We preordered 2 and just realized that on the receipt is where the codes are for the enhancements. They came up once I logged in to the game. So if you got it at the store check your receipt for the code from when you picked the game up.

Canned response from Gamestop. No response from NCsoft (long shot, wasn't expectin' much as they're not primarily responsible for this problem).

When you go to the stores route, they enter a SKU code into their cash register / point of Sale system. That SKU code is what generates your NCSOFT code for pre-order enhancements. The NCSOFT code then appears on our receipt. The mousepads are just lying there.
The crazy thing is that there is no verification that you actually pre-ordered - their systems are completely screwed up and unintegrated for online and in-store purchases. They just just ask, "did you pre-order". Thus, the really lame thing is that if I had not actually pre-ordered in the store, I could have gone down to the store, said that I had pre-ordered for the store, gotten them to enter the SKU on my purchase, and it would have generated the NCSOFT code on my receipt whether I had pre-ordered or not.
I'm not saying that those of you waiting for an online pre-order should go this route, especially since you would be purchasing it twice. However, since GameStop has totally fragged this experience, and since you would be getting another included month of game time, it might not be a bad option: especially since the emailed enhancement codes may take weeks to appear at this rate.
Apparently, the nice people staffing the 800 number customer service line are now telling callers that the codes for the enhancements do not exist, and if they were ever advertised on the Gamestop website, it was an error.

When you pick them up, a receipt is supposed to print with the code. That's how I got mine anyway.
Received one of the two desktop skins/mousepads.
Still no email codes. Willing to bet I'll only get one email.

Anyone else think the mouse pads are HUGE?
A friend gave me a heads up that he received his code two hours ago. I checked my email, and I had received mine 'bout the same time. If you haven't checked recently, I would.

Just a follow-up on my GameStop enhancements-code situation ..
Got an email from GameStop early today saying the mousepad had shipped (expected to arrive Monday). Was a little bummed at 1st, thinking my code would be with the pad .. & thus not arriving for another few days.
Got an email this evening though (around like 8pm EST.) from GS with my enhancement code. So like the poster above mentioned .. check your email !

They didn't have either the promo items OR the game box even though I pre-ordered AND put down a $40 deposit -- in JUNE. GameStop Canada SUCKS.

I've cancelled my pre-order with gamestop.ca
The physical box, and a handful of enhancements aren't that important to me. Communication and customer service are.
I called today to ask about the status, and I was told, "It hasn't been released yet". When I told them it's been live since Monday, they said, "No it hasn't". When I asked when the new arrival date was, I was told "I don't know. Next week? Maybe September 1st. It's not out yet". Then I was told there's a problem at customs. So, it hasn't been released yet.. but there's a problem at customs? And a problem at customs will take two weeks to sort? Come on. I deal with over-the-border shipments daily.

I'm sorry to hear so many people having problems with GameStop. My personal experience was great. I got a robocall the day prior to release saying my game would be in the store on the release day and showed up when the store opened. Got my game (codes and all) and went home a happy camper. I credit a good manager in my case though, the guy is always on the ball.
I would suggest one thing to people who ordered through a store and got shafted for it. Send a complaint up to the corporate level via e-mail. Make sure you include the location of the store and the store number if you can get it. Scan your receipt and use it as back-up. If you ordered on-line, I would suggest the same thing an use your confirmation e-mails as back-up.
I would also suggest sending a complaint into NC Soft as well since they would probably like to know for future reference.
