Well I did count 8 moves/powers from that Kinetic Melee set. Only one that wasn't shown...unless it's just alternate animations... *shrugs*

By the way, Castle mentioned "most" of the attacks are the standard melee range. Watch the video and notice the second to last power. It's the only one that actually makes a "form" of energy and projects it forward. I'm guessing that one's got a bit 'o range to it.

That looks just like energy melee to me.
It is better to ask forgiveness than permission.
It looks cheesy because it's flashy. Which is what I'd say most of the player base wants, more than actual "must be great DPA numbers"
They want their toons moving about. This is what makes Dual Pistols (imo) the best set (though others agree with me). |
Amusingly, I'm already hearing complaints in-game that "This will turn into City of Dragonball Z." This, in turn, tempts me to make the magical cavalryman summoned by the Dragoon Balls (see your radio/paper mission clues) as a character with this powerset.

Kinda meh on the animations. I hope for an alternate animation set where your character keeps their hands at their sides and just stares defiantly at the enemy while the effects play. No real effort required for BaBs to implement I suspect.

Very beautiful animations, but I do hope it's "gimmick" sets it far away from all the other smashing/etc melee sets in the game. Wish I could get one or two of these animations for some of my other powersets though, like Super Str, Claws, Energy Blast...

Kinetics as a set was based on boosting damage/recovery for yourself and teammates while affecting enemies in the opposite way.
Can you imagine if your endurance, speed, damage, etc. increased as your enemies' abilities went the opposite way with each attack?
