Oh come on now. We all know you can totally just whip out eight new and faster animations in what ... the next hour or so right?

Well I will also admit that I was very taken with the smoothness of the animations (and I'm NOT just saying that 'cause BABs poked his head in).

The anims are very fluid and graceful - appealing to the eye. Just not sure how it's gonna go over as an "attack".

In general, the idea of a "ranged" melee attack is...intriguing.

Watch the waterbenders in Avatar: The Last Air Bender. It's not so much the motions themselves, but the effects that they elicit that make it work as an attack.

Another set with long animations and "meh" secondary effects.

Like DP, I predict another pretty but underwhelming and underpowered set. Will probably sit near the bottom of the barrel in terms of effectiveness.

You're not supposed to say that you're in the GR closed beta.

LOL you don't even know what the secondary effects are!

Hell, Castle already alluded to some sort of 'absorbing' ability or some such effect. At least admit you're jumping to conclusions >_>

If kinetic is knock-back knock-down based is it any different than energy melee?

Wait ... when did they change energy melee's secondary effect from stun to KB/KD?

.....

Setting phasars from stun.............to kill.

I hope this powerset has a power like Swap Ammo. A toggle with immediate recharge that controls the magnitude of KB. Well that sounds like a boring power, maybe the toggle sould grant +kb and +dmg.

As far as I know, Energy Melee still does disorient, not KB.

That's Dinah here on the forums. She was the one who very graciously posted those vids for us.

Yeah, but what do you know?

It's not like you work in visual media...

These guys just kinda sat there when it wrapped, I think we were all left with a big mouthful of Meh).
It wasn't so much 'meh' (in my section of the room)--there was a lot of cheering and happiness when they announced the two new powersets, and I think it was more the silence of thinking rather than the silence of meh considering we all laughed and clapped once the guy shouted out "I love you!". And realizing "Oh, that's the end of the video, whoops", given it cut out with no real...indication.

I know I watched it and mentally winced at the length of the animations. Coupled with the fact that I have no concept for kinetic melee anyways, I wasn't super excited about it. But I know a lot of people talked about it after the panel.

That being said, I'm actually excited for kinetic melee because yay more choices! I dislike melee toons because a lot of the choices are pretty much the same. This looks very different, which is exciting.
And I cannot WAIT for staves! They are one of two of my favorite weapons in real life.

Yeah I was wincing at the length of the animations when I saw the video too, but I do think it looks like an interesting powerset.

But staves... I'm more excited about staves than I am about any of the 4 powersets in GR The only MMO I've played where they had proper stave fighting was Dark Age of Camelot, on my Friar, and I really enjoyed it - then my friends convinced me to delete all my Albion characters so that we could all play in Hib together /sigh (sadly we only had 2 EU servers then, we all had higher level Mid characters we wanted to keep, and none of my friends liked Alb) - and I didn't even like Hib much

By any chance, did I hear correctly? Is Kinetic Melee and Electric Control coming WITH GR or AFTER GR?

to TO THE END!

Check out YouTube for videos of Chanters in Aion. NCSoft knows how to make Staff-fighting look very cool.

I think they said Staves will be AFTER GR!

With. Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, Kinetic Melee, and Electric Control are all powersets included in Going Rogue.

Staves will be after GR. They are a future powerset, in the "whiteboard" stage, meaning they haven't really even began working on it in earnest.
