Discussion: Two Ways to Get Going Rogue
2. WHEN is the date because I heard we would be able to do so prior to Double XP weekend?
|
I saw some people saying March 2nd/3rd in another thread last week, but I haven't seen anything official to confirm it.
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093
-----
ah okie Thanks Chad *waits some more impatiently*
We don't know for sure, but probably this coming week or early the following one.

Won't do you any good for the month of March, but another feature of Going Rogue is due to be released at PAX-East on the 27th (or whatever that Saturday is).
Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
Hmm I think I'll just wait for the boxed edition, unless I hear GR is coming with bonus character slots. I need to save my 6 year vet reward slot for the new low level content in GR, so I may as well wait to make my new character until then.
I pretty much get the expansion and bonus goodies for less then the single pre-order to play a character I would just remake at launch to see content.
It's a magical expansion full of hope and wonder and joy and happiness and joy.

Chiming in with my $.02 inf worth.....
I am disappointed with the direction marketing took this new expansion. I am one that wants "The Box" and while I don't mind waiting until July for that I think it really sucks I have to pay the price of both options if I want to get the early access to the new powersets. For some, the option of the upgrade at launch is great but it doesn't include "The Box." I wish they would make the Complete Collection available as a pre-purchase to give us early access to the powersets but the rest of the goodies are not available until "The Box" is actually available in July.
As it is.....I will wait as my money is needed for other minor things such as food, clothing, gas, etc. $70 x 2 accounts is not really a viable option for me. The free game time is somewhat immaterial to me as both accounts are pre-paid for so far in advance now that it is just another month added to the far off distance.
Have they ever gotten around to telling us what is actually in Going Rogue?
I mean, they have already announced how much they want us to pay for it.
Some of us, are considering buying both because of one thing or another.
Why is it they are asking for money before actually informing us what is *in* GR?
I am already prepared to do the pre purchase because I want the power sets.
Ok NP.
I already know both my husband and self will be buying the boxed collectors edition...
(We have all the rest.)
Ok NP.
From us alone, and that doesn't even include extra accts... we will be shelling out over 100$.
Right now, I am actually sitting here thinking that even thoe I am already going to purchase these things, I will be amazingly disappointed if there really is only 1 to 20 content in it. That with the fact that both my husband and self just re-upped for the 1 year deal, each. Just really want to know.
As others have said, money is tight in this economy... knowing what we are buying would help many in their descions about what they want to get and what they "need" (i use that term losely) to get.
When did NCsoft hire Bill Roper?
A very "Cryptic" post if ever there was one (drum roll-boom tish, etc) Now is the time NCsoft should be going all out to get more subscribers by advertising, etc NOT by trying to squeeze the LOYAL players for extra bucks by making em fork out lots of cash cos they choose to run multiple accounts and have stuck with the game all this time. Do they not read the CO forums? cos there was a royal shitstorm over their "paid" expansion and Cryptic ended up with their tale between their legs. Not enough info or posts on here anymore, well we will remember when they bring out CoH 2 |
The drama over this is mind-boggling.

We've had new powersets in free issues before, and new zones with story arcs in free issues before, so what's in GR that makes it worth $30 as opposed to being just another free issue?
This is such an obnoxious post, accusing Paragon and NCsoft of stooping to Roper-tactics. This isn't difficult, really -- an upgrade for the game is 10 dollars cheaper than buying the entire game (29.99 versus 39.99) and its not different from any other company's marketing multiple skus for a product. Oh, and btw, as a bit of a loyalty reward for existing account holders, you can pre-order the upgrade with the little bonus of early access to the new powers.

In summary:
Digital only: $29.99
Compete edition: $39.99
You're right so far that the complete costs more because it's the entire game. But let's look at what else the differences are.
Complete has: 30 days of game time, physical perks like DVD and poster, in-game perks like bonus outfits and emotes, and the original CoH/CoV.
Digital has: Early access to DP/DS.
You can do digital now, and then buy the in-game perks later. The assumption is that it'll be $9.99, meaning:
Digital+pack: $39.98
Complete: $39.99
Complete still has 30 days of game time (value: $14.99), the original CoH/CoV, and physicals like DVD, poster, and whatnot. Complete is the better value by far, because you get 30 days of game time free. But if you want early access to DP/DS, you can't buy this version. You have to go ditigal+pack, and end up paying the same amount to get less product.
The only advantage to digital+pack is that you get early access. Which means early access is NOT a "little bonus," because we have to lose out on a free 30 days and physical perks to get it. That means we aren't getting early access for free, as a perk, or a thank you; we're paying at least $15 for it.
Now this doesn't bother me that much, but I can see why people are upset. I doubt it's some malicious plan to try and steal our money, but it does leave one scratching one's head.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

OMG I remember that! XD We never did find out where they spawned that from! :P

/coughs
As for this continuing discussion of the pricing setup for GR: Paragon Studios is free to charge whatever they want for their products. If they charged $49.99 for the expansion and given no free time with it I would have paid it gladly.
Their setup as is helps me be patient for playing new sets with new content is all.
Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.

Meh. I just think of it as an "impatience tax". Kind of like on WW/BM.

I'm sure that right this minute, marketing are trying to work out how to buy our subs cheap and flip them back to us.

Yeah, where did they say it was only 1-20 content? I thought it was at 20 you picked a side between Emperor Cole and The Resistance?
|
But that's just for the people who start off in Praetoria, for existing Heroes or Villains above 20, I'm totally sure there's going to be some 20+ content to allow them to switch sides, as the 1-20 seems to be designed around the idea that you're a Praetorian, rather than a visitor from another dimension.
