  1. As no one else seems to be taking you up on this wonderfully generous offer, I figured I may as well state, that if you really have no use for Lot 31 (Full set Malice of the Corruptor), I could use it on my Beam/Time corrupter.

I figure if you do mind, at least this lovely thread is bumped.
  2. I was originally going to ask for the the Achilles' Heel IO, but then I noticed you added Lot 29: Full set Ascendency of the Dominator, which seems to be unclaimed. If that can be used by a tier 9 premium player, I would adore it, as I'm working on a Mind/Fire Dom for my farewell tour.

And thanks in advance for even offering this stuff at all, even if I don't get any.

    Global is @GuiltTrip
  3. My favorite is an obvious choice:

    Guilt Trip Girl

"Katie discovered that she had minor mental abilities at the age of thirteen. She managed to keep them a secret from her family and friends for well over a decade. She fell in love with her college sweet heart, and they soon got married. All was going wonderful in her life until one day when her husband stumbled apon an online superhero game, Town of Supers.

Fueled by her hatred of the game, she quickly learned to hone her latent mutant abilities, to the point where she could get him to log off just after logging on. After a few months she seemed to have influence over anyone and not just her husband. She then decided to use her amplified abilities, to take out her anger on all of the evil men in the world, which in her mind is pretty much any man."

She was born during 4th of July weekend in 2004. My wife wanted to go somewhere, but someone invited Tassel (my Scrapper main at the time and member of the Honor Roll) to a Positron TF. They said it would only be an hour or two, but it was a team of 8 all on the low end of the scale. Lets just say it went poorly, some couldn't even get to the second or third mission in Boomtown. All in all it wasn't fun, and was made worse by my wife's constant asking of "Are you done yet? You said you would be done." The next day I made GTG and she quickly became my favorite. And until the mid to late 30s, GTG was proven correct that all the evil in Paragon City was caused by Men.

She was my first 40 (and when it expanded 50). While she was always a Mind/FF Controller, I restarted her a couple of times (once to change her origin to join Paragon Mutant Corp, and another to restart going through the new content like the Hollows and Strigga Island, with Red Tomax).

I have so many memories just role playing with her as well. I had so many memorable conversations with the Simian Defense Force, Der Gluhen, and just about any other male character I interacted with that would play along.

I also have a Guilt Trip Gal, which I played as a Praetorian version of her. She was a Thugs/FF Mastermind (that I later revealed to be a Nemisis Automaton to discredit Guilt Trip Girl when the cyborg robot face came out).
  4. Thanks for posting that. Now I have a name and look for a SS/Brute I just made.
  5. I'm trying to get some friends back in the game for the farewell tour. In the meantime, I can be found on Infinity as much as possible, taking as many charcters 1-50 as I can by playing the regular content.

I'm tempted to get a game-time card, so I can go VIP again, just so I can post to the Infinity forum again. I really would love to get a regular group going for the final months of just Beam Rifle Defenders, Corrupters, and Blasters. For some reason I really love seeing those decintagration messages every where.
  6. Thank you all so much for all you have done, for the game that took up all my video-gaming time for seven plus years. I started playing at launch, but stopped during the last Halloween event. But there is no way I am not going to play the hell out of the game from now until the servers are shut off. There are to many fantastic memories, to let it go away quietly.

While I have not agreed with all the development choices, I honestly can say you spoiled me so much, that no other MMO will ever match the enjoyment I've had over my time here. I love making characters, and you gave us the freedom to practically make anything the heart desires. I can't think of any PM I sent to any developer that was ignored. I hope you all bounce back and continue doing what you clearly loved doing as soon as possible.

Now what to do (well once this updater finishes)...
  7. As my plans just fell through on Saturday, would it still be possible to attend? Or should I just go with my back up plan and hit up the Board Game Library, and try to find a group that wouldn't mind another?

    -Phil
  8. I have released the following on Exalted:

    Facet
    Kickback
    Gruesome
    Rabble
    Harlot
    Emission
    Rout
    Gleam
    Sugar Crash
    Ink Blot

Most of these winners are doing none of that, they are not fighting crime or "flying through the city" they are at most walking, or simply standing there. Congrats to the winner, but I feel all of us who actually went to the trouble of making an action shot, got cheated.
They simply stated they would prefer to see action shots, not that it was a requirement. And as for going through the trouble of making an action shot, in this game it isn't much trouble at all to take screen shots while in action. It takes a far longer time picking which one of the dozens (and that is probably on the low end for most players) of fantastic costumes you can build from the milions of options.

Congratulations to all the winners. I'm jealous of not having a free year of subscription, but happy to not have the discussion with my wife about getting my hair cut before the holidays with a vacuum cleaner.
  10. I originally posted this in the Beta forums, but after looking at this thread I feel it is better suited for this discussion. I am fairly certain that with the changes as they stand (I certainly hope they change), many current VIPs will drop down to premium players. The biggest bonus to me about VIPs is access to the Incarnate system. My thoughts, on the Incarnate system, have changed quit a bit since it first came into existence.

For over six years I loved playing this game, even without an end game. Then the Alpha Slot came and it was good. I had several options of ways to improve all 20+ of my 50s, and had a half dozen or so choices of content to effectively earn the power. If I didn't like one of the options required for anything, I simply needed to save up some salvage and I could still avoid playing what I didn't have fun doing. If I ever got sick of doing one content, I could simply keep an eye out for the others, or simply run any level 50 repeatable missions for shards. The whole process recharged my enjoyment for the game, and I obsessed over keeping track of what one of my couple dozen 50s needed what content.

The Apex and Tin Mage TFs came out, and they were tough yet rewarding, and they added yet another way to continue to work towards all those Alpha Slot powers.

Then the devs opened up the flood gates and release not one new Incarnate slot, but four new powers at once. In addition, these four new powers were pretty much only unlockable by farming the exact same two trials. Yes, I know there was technically other ways to do it and now they are even more.

I played them and liked them at first as they each are a fantastic mission by themselves. However, soon (at least for me) they became mechanical, follow the script and don't deviate from the script farming. I hated it, and after I finished getting them on my first 50 and 1 slot on a second, I swore off running them again and cancelled my subscription for the first time in 6+ years.

When I heard of the Signature Story Arcs and the new powersets, I resubscribed. While I have been disappointed by the length of the SSAs, the new powersets and proliferations have reignited my love of the game. I can't fathom ever getting back on the Incarnate train from what I have seen and read in the Beta forums. So you can count me in the group of people that think it may be best to just be a premium player.

For me the Incarnate System comes down to this.

Earning the Alpha Slot was fun as it there were so many ways to do it. I can't think of a single player I know that didn't try to get this slot on every character they could.

The next four slots were added, but the only reasonable rate of getting them involved farming, which led to people getting used to and obviously enjoying said farming, while others gave up on the whole idea. When new options were finally added, the people that enjoyed the repetitive BAFs and Lambdas, simply had no need to move on to the new missions as they were not as farmable.

Now the devs, in what looks to be an effort to reclaim some of those players that prefered the variety to look into the Incarnate system, are trying to get rid of the farming they encouraged in the first place. Doing this will only upset a decent portion of the players that still care about the system. And guess what... it is not going to work.

This is so odd, as it is the PvP system all over again. There was a small but loyal group, that loved the current system. However, in an effort to make it appeal to all, they ended up chasing away most of those loyal players. It feels weird being on the other side of the fence.

As a smarter person then I once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." What saddens me is that I thought most of the new developers were City of Heroes players first, so thus should know of the past and want to avoid this.

Yes I can confirm that you can get the badge on any permanent costume power. I used the one I have for a Praetorian Experiment, for zombie on zombie fun, and got the badge.

Try buying less purples and more reds. Sometimes it is better to kill the enemy faster then extending the fight with your normal damage. The reason I mentioned that I thought they made a mistake with that EB, is that with the heal they have, if they kill you and you need to hosp it, you will be starting again from scratch (and this time he will have a handfull of his summoned pets with him).
  13. While I didn't find the first arc fantastic, at least it had a couple maps that were gorgeous and made it feel special. This second arc added a preview to a new villain group (which really didn't feel that unique to me), and at least for me is not as fun as the first part. I was hoping that the arcs were going to get bigger and better as they went on, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

3 missions, with an EB at the end, just doesn't feel worth the months wait (or the 400 pts a premium player would spend). I figure I'll just go premium, and then renew at the end and play it all through at once. It probably will feel better that way. All things considered I've been highly disappointed by this feature, and as I have sworn off Incarnate content, I don't think I need to remain a subscriber to enjoy what I still enjoy of the game.

Also, having an EB that has a self heal and summoned pets is not very solo friendly for some ATs.
  14. I am not at home so I can't check, but did you consider making them Irish and going with "Nick O'Time" and "Dawn O'Time"? Given you wouldn't be able to transfer them due to the evil '.

It will be based on alternate/pun based versions of Statesman. Plenty of ideas in that thread you can appropriate, if they aren't already taken. As soon as Unites States Man reach level 10, I will have it started up.
While I find joke themed groups tend to die out, this joke sort of amuses me considering all the dimension hoping and States Man variations in the official lore. I'll try to come up with something tonight (if my internet connection isn't down again). I'll look for you in game if I am online.
  16. First off, welcome back! I remember you from the forums years ago.

    The Digital Me

Who are you most well known as in-game? I mean character, but maybe you have an inappropriate nickname, and that could be fun too.

Guilt Trip Girl is probably my most memorable character, but I play her, Rout and Maltese most often.

What have you been doing in-game lately?

Nothing. I took a month off prior to this launch.

What do you enjoy the most in-game?

There is nothing I would say I enjoy most in game. I can say that I enjoy the Incarnate trial farming least though. Those are very nice missions, but they get old real fast for me.

Praetoria, Mercy Island, or Atlas: Which is your preferred landing destination?

It was Galaxy City for most of my time, but I would go with Praetoria right now. You actually can make choices that somewhat matter there.

How long have you been playing City of Heroes?

I've been playing since launch, but on this account, and around 87 months or actuall subscription time.

Why did you originally choose to play and/or stay on Infinity?

It was were my brother and his friends could get all the names to form "The Honor Roll."

What are your plans for "Freedom"?

Determine if being a VIP is worth it, or if I should just go Premium. I still enjoy the game, but it sort of feels like I would only be playing for the Incarnate Trials... which I don't even enjoy that much.

    The Real You

    What is best in life?

To cruch your enemies, to see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women. Like there could be any other answer.

    What is your favorite movie?

    Empire Strikes Back

    What is your favorite book?

    The Name of the Wind

Outside of CoH, what are your favorite games?

I guess it would have to be X-Box Live Arcade games, NBA2KX and the Saint's Row series. But only because since CoH, I have not really bought any games other then those.

Sports: Yes? No? Favorites? Teams? Players? Do you play any yourself?

I love Sports, nothing is better than March Madness. I cheer for the University of Illinois, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks.

What keeps you from playing City of Heroes for gross stretches of time? (Kids, jobs, spouses, other hobbies, fill in the ______.)

My kids, job and spouse are big reasons I don't play as much as I used to.

And finally, have you blurred the lines between my two neat categories? Do you play in-game with anyone you know "IRL," to use one of those dreaded stereotypical abbreviations that haunt the gamers' reputation?

I have played with many people I know in real life. Unfortunately none of them still play CoH actively.
  17. I didn't get the name that was on the top of my list, Dirge. I am begining to wonder if their is a comic book character named Dirge, that I don't know of as I was unable to get that name on any server seven years ago either.

    Names I reservered:
    Guilt Trip Girl
    Rout
(those are my two favorite characters on my home server)
    Gleam (For a Beam Corrupter)
    Facet (Stone/Time Controller)
  18. I'll admit I have played exclusively on Infinity for the past seven years, so I'm not even sure I'll hang around on Exalted. However, the clean slate of available names on Exalted has coerced me to create several characters on Exalted.

Some of the most fun I have had has been running with themed based SGs, but over the past seven years, all but one of my teammates from way back then have left, and I rarely get to play with the other due to differances in available gametime.

If there are any SGs forming up based around a theme, please share them here (and mention if you are looking for other members). I'm still on the fence about starting one, as I have obviously not played long enough on Exalted to get a feel for it.
  19. I'm still surprised more people are not concerned that all of the non-VIP tier 9 rewards can only be taken on one character (although you could take it multiple times on the same character). Then again, I guess that only affects Premium players as VIPs would just choose from the VIP Tier 9 list.

I guess the true reward for Tier 9 VIP players is playing the game for free, which is a pretty huge reward really.

I hate to break it to you, but I think to many of the "old-timers" you are the "other numbered person"...

I've been playing for over seven years, and while my subscription was set to lapse at the end of August or September the Comic Con info has interested me enough that I may go monthy until atleast I21 launches.

But that is what is weird about it. Why would something that is pretty much useless for anyone over level 20, included as a reward so far up the tiers? I actually liked having them for my Praetorians, as it allows you to rely on your actual powers earlier rather then the vet reward powers (if you have them). However, I still would not take them until I had no other choice.

While I understand the only thing I payed to get them, was pretty much not having access to the Dual Pistol and Demon Summoning sets early, I still find it odd that to get to the higher tiers I need to "purchase" something I already have. At least when they added the other pre-order items in veteran reward form, you got access to other items as well. I guess I'll just look at it as a slot to get the next set of "freebies", which I suppose is better then nothing.
  24. Oh this is a tad confusing. I'm a 85 month Vet now (so probably 87 or 90 month when this goes live) so I doubt I have any room to complain. But this seems to just be a faster way to allow players access to the veteran rewards (or to just buy them outright). I don't really see how I'm getting more freedom in my choices or any thing super exciting added.

Do I need to take every thing in a tier before picking up a choice in the next higher tier? It looks like all the consumable items are "freebies" from moving up tiers, but I thought they said something about picking up the same reward multiple times (which would only make since for consumables). Is that only for the tier 9 consumables?

It looks like they threw in a 5 charge version of the Mission Teleporter power as a tier reward. Does this mean the unlimited power I have due to buying the Mac version (despite not having a Mac), will go away? Or do I simply get a second power I can use 5 times in addition to it?

Also I pre-ordered GR to get access to the GR-Enhancements. Do I really need to "spend" a paragon point on something I already have just so I can get to tier 8? I guess it is the same as getting the Arachnos Helmets as a veteran reward (but atleast in that case I got a couple of new helmets to add to the one I had), but it seems odd that I need to spend a point on something I don't need just to move up a tier.
  25. That trailer was fantastic. Kudos to whomever put it together.

I may have cancelled my account, but I think I won't be able to resist buying this just to make a new character with my seven year vet slot.
