Discussion: Freedom Fridays on Facebook!

Hi everyone! Now that you’ve had a few days to look through the announcements regarding City of Heroes: Freedom, we’d like to give you an opportunity to ask us questions you may have about City of Heroes: Freedom, and any of the new features that this exciting evolution of your favorite Super-Powered MMO will bring to you!

To facilitate this, we're pleased to announce the all-new Freedom Friday activity! Every Friday from now until City of Heroes Freedom launches, we will be hosting a Question and Answer session on our Facebook page. Every Friday, we will have a designated time period where you can ask your questions about City of Heroes: Freedom. During this time, we will be answering as many of them as we can, so be sure to keep a close watch on Facebook to see if your question has been answered!

You have your own forums, and many people want nothing to do with facebook

It does seem odd that you would use Facebook. Wouldn't use of both the forum and Facebook be more useful? Or are you using it as a means of advertisement? If the latter then good job.

I do know that there are several former players that follow the FB posts. Since those players might have some questions (and some are likely to soon be either Premium or returning to VIP) it seems a decent venue to do something like this. Since they aren't currently subscribed, they can't post on the forums.

Of course, since I'm now off on Fridays I'll not have my work phone with me to get FB updates during the day and I have plans to be anywhere but in front of my computer on those days off.

So I'll wait for the reposts here as well.

Why shouldn't they use Facebook in addition to the forums? Why shouldn't they do a podcast in addition to the forums? they have been using the forums all week long. They will continue to use the forums.

The EULA for Facebook is onerous to say the least, and their reputation for security and particularly privacy breaches is hideous. Most people I know who know anything about computer security or intellectual property rights refuse to have accounts; I'd certainly never sign away my rights like that.

This would be a great opportunity to set up and test a public-questions part of the CoH forums in advance of CoHF; to draw returning and potential customers into the CoH environment and let them experience some of the cool community we have here. At the very least, you should accept questions here as well, and repost answers. Perhaps the best option would be to accept questions via a wide variety of means (forum post here, special email address, Twitter with a specific hashtag, Facebook, etc.), then post the answers primarily here, with a link to it posted in whatever medium the question came from.

I think they should use as many tools to advertise the game as possible.

Where do I ask my burning questions?! I don't realy understand facebook that well. Do I just make a wall post or reply to one?

How does this actually work? Im on the facebook page now, but don't see any chat options or anything.

There's a Facebook post up on our wall now. You can click "Comment" under the post and submit your question. We'll be answering them in the comments as well!
